  1. Even if Haaland somehow flops at his next club, his young age means there's at least some kind of resale value there which is different to Lukaku.
  2. Okay. If we could bid 150m+ or Dortmund are willing to sell, we would have done it by now, wouldn't we? It's precisely because we have run into a wall there that leads us to going after Lukaku now. Haaland was/is the club's #1 choice.
  3. Do you know how release clause works?
  4. Am all for solutions but not when the solution could disrupt the flow of things. Yes, Lukaku scores goals but the concerns raised by others here are enough to raise some alarm bells. Also, is it really a disaster if we don't buy Lukaku this year and then try for Haaland next summer? Yes, our chances to sign Haaland may not be great then but it's still not impossible. And what's the worst that could happen really if we can't get Haaland then? We can either go back for Lukaku, who may be 29 years old then but will likely be cheaper if we want to OR look around the market for any other up-and-coming #9 etc.
  5. That's the release clause. It's fixed. If a club is dumb enough to pay more for whatever reason, Dortmund will be laughing all the way to the bank. Obviously it would be about convincing Haaland next year and probably even offer him astronomical wages plus agent fees to Raiola and his dad.
  6. That's his release clause next year...
  7. Oh, you're changing your tune now that we're not bidding 150m+ for Haaland? Even IF Haaland flops, it will still look less silly considering he would cost only 60-70m. Plus given his age, he would still have a good resale value if things don't work out for him in England.
  8. I believe this was already said earlier but I'll just say it anyway. If we do get Lukaku, we're practically helping United raise funds and open the door for them to sign Haaland next year. They would enjoy more years out of him compared to us with Lukaku. And if we don't get the "improved" version of Lukaku, then we're gonna look very silly then, especially for 100 million+.
  9. But Tuchel has also said he doesn't want to repeat what he did at previous clubs because he doesn't want to destroy the squad harmony and the good atmosphere at the club. At the risk of looking silly down the line, think Tuchel is someone who can learn from his mistakes in such cases as opposed to being a stubborn bastard like Conte or Mourinho. And if Matt Law is to be believed, Tuchel is said to be relaxed about how things are going and isn't using the CL win to kick up a fuss with the board.
  10. But this is also a club that sack the manager often and the next manager may not be so keen on player X, Y, Z.
  11. You're talking about a club who have a history of buying players that the manager doesn't necessarily want...
  12. I know Arsenal have to sell Lacazette first but think they have the money if things like this are in the works...
  13. I literally just posted earlier. lol
  14. Can someone else just go make a bid for Martinez or one of their main players?
  15. Tuchel also said Werner is best suited to the left in front 3 but ended up playing him down the middle a lot anyway. He would have to find solutions to see how we can fit them in if we do end up with Lukaku...
  16. Matt Law with the "latest" on Lukaku... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/08/03/romelu-lukaku-priced-100m-inter-may-forced-sell-Chelsea-target/ Inter Milan want around £100million for Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku and may be forced to cash in on him before the end of the transfer window. Telegraph Sport revealed on Monday that Lukaku has jumped back to the top of Chelsea’s striker wish-list with the Blues now actively pursuing a deal for their former player. Inter have insisted that Lukaku is not for sale and have rejected proposals that have included Marcos Alonso for the Belgian, but Chelsea remain undeterred. Sources close to the Italian club, who have financial difficulties, have confirmed they need to sanction at least one more big sale before the end of the month and that will give Chelsea hope that Inter will eventually accept a bid for Lukaku. Inter would prefer to sell Lukaku’s team-mate Lautaro Martinez, who is of interest to Arsenal, but so far they only have Chelsea ready to pay big money for Lukaku. Chelsea still hope to negotiate Inter’s asing price down or convince the Serie A champions to accept a player in the opposite direction and there is growing confidence that a deal may be viable. Lukaku has made it clear that he is happy to start the new season at Inter and there is no prospect of him requesting a move or refusing to train. But it is believed he would listen to any proposal from Chelsea and that his former club are one of the few that may be able to tempt him away from Milan. Lukaku is adamant that he will decide his future, rather than following the wishes of an agent or a club, and the opinion of his mother Adolphine could be key. Adolphine is believed to have played a big role in Lukaku’s decision to first join Everton and then reject a new contract to leave. He originally wanted to re-join Chelsea from the Toffees, but was convinced to instead move to Manchester United. Lukaku subsequently split from his old agent Mino Raiola, who brokered the United move, and is now represented by Federico Pastorello, who enjoys a good relationship with Chelsea.
  17. But there are barely any links with them at the moment. Even the one on Tchouameni has gone quiet. If the club really want Rice, they might just wait until next season.
  18. Won't be surprised if Tuchel plays Mount in CM if we don't sign a new midfielder. And which bid are you referring to?
  19. Supposedly only good if Sarri is your club manager...
  20. If I didn't misunderstand the context of the translation, it says Inter have also rejected the 110m bid? And saw an Inter reply saying that if Kane, Haaland is worth around 150m, then it should be the same at least for Lukaku.
  21. He believes the situation has been blown out of proportion? Unless there's a good reason for not turning up that we all don't know, how dense can he be?
