Not at Anfield though.

Pulisic was playing as an inverted winger. He started out wide and then worked his way inward. Think Ribery for example. My point is, Tuchel could have tailored the game plan to fit Pulisic in alongside Werner and Mount in past games. Pulisic came on for CHO at Spurs in the second half and we ended up with Werner-Mount-Pulisic as the front 3. And if you want to mention specifics aka why a player is used like what you described with Ziyech there, then one could argue that Tuchel prefers what Werner brings to the team more than Pulisic - e.g. stay on the last line and focus on making runs behind to stretch the defence/push the defence back. Moreover, we need some sort of striker presence in the XI. Werner is more like one than Pulisic is. Also while Pulisic shone on the left last season, it's not like he can't play on the right either. Did that at Dortmund and for Tuchel as well. So what is preventing Tuchel for just playing Pulisic on the right?

Werner and Pulisic are same type of player...? ๐คจ One is a direct, inside forward while the other is a winger. CHO played as one of the front 3 attackers against Spurs, Southampton and Everton. And Pulisic is more like CHO given they're both wingers. The point isn't whether Ziyech has played much or not, it's that Tuchel could have tailored the approach to fit Pulisic in but he didn't. If you want to talk this season as in the whole season, then nothing stopped Pulisic from playing a lot under Lampard after he came from injury in late November.

But that was before we suddenly went and bought so many attackers last summer. I don't think we will keep a player just because we want to tap into a market if he wants to leave.
-
Yeah but the views have always been different and we just end up going in circles anyway. lol

Okay, let's make it as if Werner is preventing Pulisic from getting into the XI. Tuchel did not play/start Werner against Wolves and Man United but chose to not start with Pulisic anyway. There were also games when Tuchel could have chosen Pulisic to play with Werner and Mount but he went with CHO or Ziyech. On the bigger picture though, we do have a lot of attacking players in the squad. It does feel like it needs to be trimmed because everyone of them would want to be in the starting XI.

It's fucking ridiculous how these English pundits seem incapable of looking beyond the surface when it comes to analysis. Either they are just dumb or want turn to a blind eye to avoid criticizing their mates.
-
Does it matter what everyone put in their line-up though? It's Tuchel who ultimately picks the team after all.

If he was the finished article and this is happening, I'd be very concerned (and not talking about him missing chances). But he isn't. He hasn't been great and consistent but he hasn't been a complete disaster either and there are good qualities that he has and things he can work on to improve his overall play. If we're still seeing the same issues this time next season, then we can look at what to do with him in the transfer window etc. Just don't understand this thing about writing players off after only a season every time.
-
You could ask the same about Mount, Ziyech, Pulisic and CHO. It's why I think we need to return to a back 4 next season. Otherwise, it's crazy to have 7-8 players for just 3 positions. Constant rotation with this lot is not going to work forever.

You're not wrong but one slight difference though, Cahill at least already had years of experience in the Premier League when we signed him. Guehi doesn't have it yet while Ampadu only has a bit of it.
-
There were definitely some wild takes back in 2018.
-
The sources you're talking about are definitely shit and even if we sign Haaland, I don't see how he would really find his spot threatened by him considering he can play on either side of the striker.
-
Look, scoring only 5 goals and missing all those chances in 20+ appearances are bad. Don't think anyone will disagree with that but there's a difference in defending Werner for missing chances and defending Werner for his general performance/play/use, which seems to be the more common discussion around here and I know you have your views of it but that's another debate.
-
We have also won titles with a back 4, more times than with a back 3.
-
You talked as if we are only hunting for Haaland (or whichever striker out there) because Tuchel doesn't fancy Abraham and the manager of this club has a complete say when it comes to transfers. There were already rumors that we want Haaland before Tuchel even took over and rumors about Abraham doesn't fancy staying at the club because we want to sign Haaland.

Juventus in CL after signing Ronaldo in 2018: L 2-3 Ajax (QFs) L 2-2 Lyon on away goals (R16) L 4-4 Porto on away goals (R16) They reached the CL final once in the 3 seasons prior to the signing.

I see Morata has squandered two big chances? ๐

LOL Speaking of Liverpool, have been seeing a lot of pieces saying they should sell Salah, Mane etc to rebuild their squad but no one seem to be asking 'Who the F out there has the money to buy them?' and/or 'Who the F wants to buy 29-year-old players with no resale value at this point?' at a time when the craze is surrounding Mbappe and Haaland. Unless their owners are willing to throw money in, which has not been their business model, they're probably fucked with rebuilding their squad.

Just realized that Everton had not lost a Premier League away game since November before yesterday's game at the Bridge. Their loss yesterday was also their first away against a Big 6 team this season - they've won at Spurs and Liverpool and drew with Man United.

Haven't been watching Leeds much but apparently the pitch condition at Elland Road has been horrendous?

I don't know anymore...
