  1. What will also be interesting is the meeting between the other 14 Premier League clubs tomorrow. Steve Parish, who is the Crystal Palace chairman, basically admitted that the Premier League need the Big 6 on Sky Sports earlier and said they hope they can continue to include those 6 in the competition.
  2. If we weren't involved, I probably wouldn't care to talk about it BUT it still wouldn't have changed the fact that it wouldn't be fair on the players and coaching staff of the clubs involved. Whether it's ours or Real Madrid's or Man City's, they didn't sign up for this. They shouldn't have to suffer the punishment because of the greed of 3 owners here.
  3. But you can't talk about fairness and then being okay with UEFA punishing innocent parties to get to the owners. Yes, the club may have been warned of the consequences but again, none of the players and coaching staff were involved in forming this Super League. It's the owners. How can you also talk about integrity if the 5 clubs get kicked out and clubs that have been eliminated are suddenly brought back into the competition? There's basically no integrity left in the competition if that happens. At worst, you kick those 12 clubs out of future Champions League competitions but this remaining season, it's just fucking nonsense. And are we even sure that it's about fairness, integrity or whatever you want to call it with UEFA? It seems they're super concerned because someone else has created a competition that rivals them and may potentially eat away at their money. They know if those 12 clubs really leave for the Super League, then the Champions League will eventually lose its appeal because no one is gonna enjoy seeing Bayern or PSG win it every season (fans will also get bored of seeing big clubs play each other 100 times per season in the Super League but that's also another issue).
  4. It's also gotta do with the fact those 12 clubs will pocket way more money in the Super League than in the Champions League. Isn't the financial gap between the big sides and the rest already big? How big do they really want more? And this is an even bigger issue in Spain because of the TV distribution between the 20 clubs. IIRC, Real Madrid and Barcelona get like 2/3s of it.
  5. The Super League isn't about fairness. That's bloody obvious. But punishing the owners through innocent parties like the players, coaching staff etc is not fucking fair. Yes, players are part of those clubs but they did not sign up for this when they signed their contract however long ago and I'm god damn sure they haven't signed any amended contract either. Do you really think the owners will have to care about explaining to the players, coaching staff? Yeah, they will just do their BS talking bla bla bla and then what we will have is a huge group of unhappy individuals.
  6. The funny thing about this is, the revamped Champions League isn't any better than the Super League proposal. It's very similar or if not, worse. It practically also looks to protect the interest of the big clubs. And Micah Richards was just saying on BBC Live earlier, when it comes to racism, UEFA usually dilly-dally over it but when it comes to this, when it comes to money, there's suddenly a huge uproar and UEFA want firm action ASAP.
  7. Someone with legal expertise will know better but can UEFA even legally kick out the 5 clubs now when that Super League hasn't even happened? Hasn't it all just been proposal right now? No Super League matches have even taken place yet, the players haven't played one such game yet and heck, I don't even think the players have signed any contract related to the Super League.
  8. Well, you have Florentino Perez coming out later in Spain to speak about this. But otherwise yeah, they're fucking spineless. They agreed to the decision and then left the manager and players hanging in the media, when they weren't even part of the decision making process.
  9. I don't have any ideas right now but since these owners just went ahead and agreed to this, how much do you think they really care about getting kicked out this season? What I just DO NOT agree is UEFA trying to punish those guilty by punishing through those that aren't guilty at all. It's just not fucking fair!
  10. The owners of the 12 clubs, including ours, deserved to be hammered for agreeing to the Super League. But what I don't think is deserving is that us fans and especially the players get denied the chance to win the Champions League because of a decision made by the higher-ups and not them or us. Why are UEFA trying to punish the players, to render their effort in the previous rounds useless because of someone else's making? These players dream of competing and winning the Champions League in their career. Us fans dream of seeing our club win the biggest prize there is in Europe. Why should we have that taken away from us because of ultimately one person's decision here? Why? The players and fans did not ask for this.
  11. This is a stupid question but I'm confused about something. Having read so many things about it, has the Super League actually happened? I know they have announced the plans for it but on one hand, you have the government, the FAs trying to stop the Super League from happening and on the other hand, UEFA and FIFA already threatening bans on clubs and players. If it hasn't happened, can FIFA and UEFA even impose bans on the players now? Can a club still make a u-turn? And as I said earlier, how is it even fair to punish the players when they were not even part of the (horrendous) decision making process to form the Super League? Why are they getting punished for someone else's greed!? Hell why are we fans even getting punished for someone else's greed!? Both the players and us fans are essentially on the same innocent boat!
  12. I saw that the SL will only begin in 2022? But either way, all the threats that have been thrown around look like they're gonna be executed ASAP. So god knows if getting a result tomorrow, on Saturday etc will even be worthy because everything that's been done this season could just get flushed down the toilet instantly.
  13. One suspects the same thing is happening at the other 11 clubs too...
  14. The next few days will be fucking fun! If that happens, the players should just stage a protest against the club. Fucking joke if the dream just gets thrown out of the window because of greed!
  15. Maybe they will happen, maybe they will not but I wonder how many of the 12 clubs thought thoroughly of the consequences of forming the Super League. Being thrown out of European and domestic competitions. Players banned from representing their country. Threat of players potentially walking away from their contract. There are probably more but those are already A LOT, HEAVY consequences to take.
  16. The timing is odd perhaps but think the Spurs fans have long given up on Mourinho and are glad to see the back of him.
  17. As much as the players are 'employees' of the clubs, it's incredibly unfair and pathetic that they get banned from playing international competitions etc for something that they were not part of in the process of forming that Super League. Why are they getting punished when the club owners were the ones that made the decision to be part of this? Club owners made the decision based on greed but the managers are the ones having to face the awkward questions in the media and the players are the ones having to face the consequences in regards to their playing career. It's a fucking joke!
  18. But why choose to sack Mourinho when Spurs would have to pay a huge compensation? If Mourinho did not agree with it, then why did he not just walk away instead? As much as it's a trophy and Spurs haven't won one in ages, not sure how much they care about the League Cup. Not as if it's the Champions League. Plus, having someone like Mourinho may give them a better chance but it's still no guarantee he will win it considering the state they have been in. They are clearly no longer convinced about him long term and thought better off just sack him now instead of sack him after the final because it would be awkward if they win the trophy. Maybe they are also hoping for a fresh scenery or a change in atmosphere of sorts by just getting rid of him.
  19. Not sure any manager of the 12 clubs would speak against it, TBH, now that it's out there. But it would be interesting to hear Klopp's thoughts later.
  20. Think the issue is, even if Mourinho wins them the cup, it would just paper over the obvious cracks at the club. And had he won them the cup, then it would look kinda silly to just sack him after that.
  21. Obviously. Had to walk the diplomatic line about it instead of taking sides - said things like "we're employees of the club, we joined to play in the hardest competitions, trust the club to make the right decisions". Also said he found out about it yesterday and hope that it won't affect the players (yet to meet them since the news came out).
