  1. Agree 100%. If anything, getting a player like Aké or Kimpembe should be a good thing as far as Colwill is concerned. Neither of those two are too good or too high profile to be slowly phased out if Colwill turns out to be the huge success we all hope he will be, but at least in the short term I'd sleep a lot easier knowing there's another solid option for the LCB role too. Having a more experienced 'first choice' for now would mean Colwill can be bedded in more patiently and not having to throw him straight in at the deep end, meaning there's less pressure on the youngster while still making sure he gets enough opportunities to develop. For example James didn't start even half the games in his first season back at the club (granted he did start out injured for the first month or so) and I'm hoping Colwill would have a similar role this coming season. If he does well enough with his opportunities, his role can then be increased for the next season and eventually make him first choice once he's clearly better than the guy he's competing with. I've seen the name of Gvardiol thrown around a lot here this summer and he seems to be the flavor of the month for many. How'd you think Colwill would feel if the club signed another youngster for his position for big money? It'd be an obvious vote of no confidence from the club / manager for him because he too would need plenty of game time to keep improving and he'd be a much bigger threat for Colwill's development. Let's face it, Aké/Kimpembe + Colwill sounds a hell of a lot better than Colwill + Sarr and that's all there is to it. As long as the finances don't get totally ridiculous, I'm totally on board bringing in one of those two.
  2. Boehly and Mendes reportedly met ONCE almost two weeks ago. Talk about "hanging last 2 days" 😂
  3. The Telegraph article by Matt Law literally says no progress is currently being made regarding Ronaldo until Tuchel has been heard. The club have no idea what he'd cost and how much he'd demand in wages, not even if United are willing to sell him at all. The same article also says the club are hoping to have two new signings confirmed before heading out for pre-season tour on Saturday this week, and working on those deals takes priority on any potential pursuit of Ronaldo. So hopefully it will be Sterling and a defender done this week.
  4. Yea no thanks to Ronaldo. While he's still definitely a world class player inside the penalty box when given the ball there, he doesn't work hard enough and he eats up the space other attacking players could otherwise thrive in. All that pretty much means even though he still scores a lot, his overall effect on the team is negative. I already said it when he was still playing at Juventus and last season at Man Utd it became more and more evident. On paper he could still be a great squad option if used more sparingly for certain kind of opponents (ones who defend deep) or certain situations within a game (ie. need a late goal so bring in Ronaldo from the bench for the last 20-30 mins), and with a more sensible load management he could even have required stamina to be a hard working player but obviously that's just not in his nature. Even at 37yo he still expects to start almost every game in the EPL/UCL and will sulk if benched. I'm definitely more than ready to eat my words if he does indeed join and is a success, but for now I'm gonna say pass. Lewandowski would be my dream signing up front for the next couple seasons but seeing as he's hell bent on going to Barcelona there's not a lot of appealing options out there. Maybe just stick with Havertz up front with Broja as rotational option for now?
  5. That's what I'm thinking. Aké together with someone like MDL could be decent. I don't think expecting the club to sign two marquee players for CB in one summer is realistic because there are concerns elsewhere on the pitch too that need addressing, and then there's of course the Colwill situation to think about as well. Aké-Silva-MDL with Colwill and Chalobah in reserve doesn't sound too bad. I don't necessarily think Aké is good enough to be a starter in a title pushing side but at least in the short term having him and Colwill for the LCB role would give the club some breathing room and we could see what Colwill is made of before deciding whether a long-term high profile CB needs to be signed on the left side or not (ie. Gvardiol).
  6. Some youth player, not even made his professional level debut yet. If it's true the lad is being offered a contract, it could well be Inter have offered Chelsea their pick of Inter youth players as some makeweight in Lukaku loan deal. On top of a loan fee of course.
  7. I stopped paying attention to the list when I saw Mason Greenwood in the top30 most valuable players. 😂
  8. Yeah I remember reading about a lowered release clause being part of the contract negotiations, but surely if he ends up signing it the clause isn't going to be valid this year?
  9. Don't think Nkunku is moving anywhere this summer. Binning Lukaku and one of Ziyech/Pulisic/Werner while getting Dembele and Sterling would be great. Havertz to be the main striker. Doesn't De Ligt have a contract extension agreed with Juve? I thought it was just a matter of signing it.
  10. I'd say around £70-80M would represent 'fair' value at the moment for his current level and for the prices we've seen other highly rated DMs move. That said, with 2 years and an option for a third still left on his contract West Ham don't need to sell for a 'fair' price so they have every right to demand an over the odds payment to let him go. They know they'll still get the 70-80M for him even with a year left on his contract so if nobody's willing to pay more, they'll probably want to keep him for a couple more years. Don't believe for a second the actual asking price is strictly 150M though. If anyone is willing to pay 100-120M for him now, they're gonna sell.
  11. Kinsella hasn't tweeted that, has he?
  12. Not bothered to check any underlying metrics other than xG but here goes. 2019/20 season (full Lampard): - Liverpool xG was 75,2 and goals scored 85. - Man City xG was 102,2 and goals scored 102. - Chelsea xG 76,2 and goals scored 69. 2020/21 season (half Lampard / half Tuchel): - Man City xG 77,7 and goals scored 83. - Liverpool xG 72,2 and goals scored 68. - Chelsea overall xG 68,7 and goals scored 58. - Under Lampard first half of the season xG 32,5 an goals scored 33. - Under Tuchel second half of the season xG 36,2 and goals scored 25. 2021/22 season (full Tuchel): - Man City xG 93,4 and goals scored 99. - Liverpool xG 93,0 and goals scored 94. - Chelsea xG 69,3 and goals scored 76. Man City have always been a lot higher but as far as Liverpool goes, this past season high was an exception in their xG created and not the normal. Under Klopp their xG/season has averaged around 70-77, which is really not all that much more than Chelsea under Tuchel this season or the second half of last season. As for Chelsea the numbers for 1.5 seasons of Lampard (108.7 xG) and 1.5 seasons of Tuchel (105.5 xG) are pretty close but at the same time there's been a big improvement defensively. One of course has to also consider that Klopp and Pep have been at their clubs since 2015 and 2016 so they've had a lot more time to build their respective teams and train attacking play patterns etc. than Tuchel has. Those two are considered two of the best teams in recent football history so it would've been a miracle if Tuchel came in and was immediately as good or better than them.
  13. 3rd place is secured even with a loss. Unless you think Spurs are winning Norwich by at least 17 goals.
  14. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/antonio-ruediger-Chelsea-fc-soccer-premier-league Rüdiger says good bye with an article. Very well written, what a man.
  15. It's not Mount's fault the others are benched more regularly because of their inconsistency and thus play less minutes. There's a reason why among the more attacking minded players Mount is 1st in minutes played as well, and the reason is stated in the statistics you quoted above. Without even needing a fact check I'm pretty certain Mount is 1st in at least 8/10 of those statistics even if we review the stats per every 90 minutes played. Btw, Mount's G+A output this season in the league (11G + 10A) is far better than Willian ever managed in his 7 year Chelsea career (best was 9G+7A). And that's not even mentioning that Mount at the moment is even two years younger than Willian was when he joined the club in the first place so 23yo Mount is already more prolific in the final third than Willian was in any of his prime years.
  16. Talking to a player and enquiring whether he's interested in a move or not doesn't mean the transfer needs to be confirmed before the takeover is officially completed. Just today Matt Law reported that Marina & Cech have already been doing a lot of leg work regarding the summer transfer window, which probably translates to sending out scouts and having preliminary discussions with the agents of the potential transfer targets. Once the ownership situation is finalized, they can then start official transfer proceedings straight away without needing to start from scratch. If they wait till Boehly's people are officially in charge, they're probably already too far behind and the top targets can already be in advanced negotiations with someone else. At the moment it looks like Marina and Buck will keep their current jobs so why not start preparing ASAP?
  17. LeBron James owns a tiny minority stake of Liverpool through FSG, who have around 30 partners overall. The likes of Hamilton or Williams being included in Broughton's consortium is just like that, doesn't mean anything really. Would imagine all of the remaining bidders have at least a couple dozen people involved with varying degrees of involvement. What matters most is who owns the controlling stake and who they put in place to take care of the club's major decisions.
  18. Werner's high salary could become a stumbling block though. That is of course unless he's willing to lower his demands to get a move.
  19. He was decent but nowhere near world class level. At no point in the first 3,5 years of Rüdiger's time at the club did any of us think 'damn that Rüdiger is one of the best defenders in the world, we must keep him at all costs'. He played under three different managers and his peak was nowhere near the level he's now shown under Tuchel's management, I sure as hell wouldn't have shed a single tear if he'd been sold at any point pre-Tuchel arrival. Anyway, that still doesn't answer my question. Before summer 2021, based on their performances since coming to the club in summer 2017 would you have chosen to extend either Rüdiger or Christensen contracts?
  20. Pre-Tuchel did you honestly want either Rüdiger or Christensen to sign extensions? If either of them signed new deals under Lampard while playing some of the worst football of their careers, a lot of people would've been up in arms about rewarding mediocrity yet again. Tuchel came in and both started looking good, but surely you'd want to wait a while before even thinking of starting contract negotiations to make sure it's not just a rare purple patch and then revert back to their previous level with a new high-paid five year deal in their pockets? After the 2020/21 season the cards were already firmly in the hands of the players with less than a year remaining but before then I wouldn't have considered it good business to hand either of them new deals so the situation is just really unfortunate.
  21. If he was buying the club with a bunch of other investors like he said he wants to, I would assume the other investors just get a chance to buy the shares from his estate once he's passed. Or alternatively his share of the club would be inherited by his daughter who also seems to be a billionaire herself.
  22. Haven't warmed up to the idea of signing Dembele at all, but I suppose a six month loan wouldn't be the worst outcome. We'd get to see how well he fits in the team and if he proved a success, he could then be signed as a free agent in the summer but if there were too many question marks over the signing the club could just cut ties after the season anyways.
  23. Last summer's transfer window was not included on the accounts for year 20/21. The previous year of heavy spending (around -190m€ net) was included in the amortisations. Would assume the next one is much better when matchday income has (so far) returned to more or less normal and transfers for the 21/22 season are included, when there have been sales of around 160m€ consisting mostly from academy players who had zero amortisation value to begin with.
  24. Nope, he got offered a 2 year deal.
