Yeah Torres is a polarizing figure, if he keeps this up these type of performances and scoring regularly he will definitively prove me wrong but it took him over an year to score a winner for us and his production in the EPL is simply not been good enough.
-
Yes hat trick against QPR and a goal against Barca, hasn't changed the way I feel. I'm 100% certain that if Drogba leaves at the end of this season we will sign a 20million pound striker and won't put all our eggs in the Torres basket. I'd personally still sale him while he has resell value.
-
Play Drogba on the left he is our second best Left Back, kept Alves in his pocket until he was subbed in Barcelona Torres or Sturridge up top, Kalou on the right
-
What is your logic behind this statement? Drogba is a big match player scored 3 key winners against Napoli; Valencia; Barca - Torres can be a sub once Drogba gets tired which will happen around the 70th minute if he continues to defend with the same vigor he showed against Barca in the second leg. Anyway QPR was Torres's best game in blue - if he keeps this up for our remaining games in the EPL he will definitively prove me wrong regarding his mentality.
-
I think all clubs in England are exploiting Liverpool As awful as Torres has been at least we can thank our management for not using 70 million pounds to sign Carroll; Downing; Henderson and Charlie Adam - I'd be on suicide watch if I was in their predicament. Can't believe they can actually be double winners this year - it's up to us to stop this farce

I still I'm inclined to agree, that goal made sure we would not experience same heart break we had in 09 but at the same time it's Ramires's goal that was not only the goal of the season(for me personally) but also is properly the most important goal our players have scored in the last few years. I'm happy he scored and has a chance to win his first few trophies at club level, but his stay here at Chelsea has been very disappointing and I do not want to risk build a side around a player who has obvious confidence/fitness issues. I doubt he would have anymore than a sub appearance in both finals we would play - since Drogba has been key in nearly all big matches we have won this season.
-
Especially when he gave that ball away which lead to I think Messi or Iniesta being one on one against Cech I was about to chuck something at the TV. I though he was awful in the first half but since Terry got send off he did his duties in the defensive department and deserves credit for his second half performance.
-
I completely agree I don't remember too many of our players being booed at the Bridge it's very disappointing considering the support we have given to Sheva and Torres - who always gotten a big cheer at the Bridge
-
You think Torres and Carroll aren't the biggest flops in World Football?
-
Liverpool fans would point out that Carroll has outscored Torres thus far and scored the winner in the derby both are a bit shite obviously the biggest flops in World Football in recent years.
-
I'm more inclined to play Sturridge; Ramires; Kalou front three against Barca myself - their defenders can barely keep up with just Ramires being out there - it would be good to tire them out than bring on Drogba to knock em around in the 65th minute.
-
I think that Sturridge would be a great option for Tuesday to stretch them on the counter I think he is faster than all the defenders they are able to play but it would also rest upon Sturridge putting in such a defensive shift that I've not seen from him on the right wing. I'd personally prefer he played than Torres - who I have no confidence in this type of match(or any match for that matter).
-
If they offered 20 million and Adam Johnson for Torres I'd personally drive him to Machester

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LamXIcNTXtc&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQl7jU5_GU0 Should be playing up top next year, Torres has had his time when we sign a right winger Sturridge and Lukaku need to be given runs up top for Chelsea FC - it's players like these two which can be our strike force for the next 5-10 years.
-
Yes I will miss Drogba hope he becomes a manager some day so I can see him at Chelsea FC once more him and Lampard are true legends - too bad that everyone ages and at some point you need to let them go.
-
You do realize we are paying him around 8 million pounds per season in wages. If he doesn't find form next season he would be virtually unsaleable - right now we can blame lack of balance; tempo; lack of creative players; lack of accommodation; players not passing to him - but lets say he fails even if we change the whole system just for this one guy. What exactly happens than - he collects his check for another 3 years or we let him go on a free just to free ourselves from his wages. The only way I'd be happy to see Torres in the squad next season is if his wages match his contribution to the squad - from his current season I don't think he should be anywhere near the top earners in the club, same can be said about Lamps and Drogba but most people expect Drogba to be on his way out at the end of the season. To me a lot that has been said are excuses, he played with Spain with virtually the best midfield in the World of the last decade and he wasn't exactly setting the World on fire. His stature in World Football is still enough for us to reclaim half of his transfer fee but if he continues on with his inability to regularly score goals and we buy another striker in the summer we could end up with the most expensive substitute player in the World.
-
I do know that Torres's transfer was in the works well before the winter transfer window and we exhausted all possible options before actually Liverpool settled with a 50 million transfer fee. If that type of energy was used to try to secure a creative attacking midfielder or a right winger - our creativity problems might have been addressed adequately last winter whether we signed Modric or someone else.
-
It's connected because we would have made our first approach in the winter, it would have been turned down Modric would have had a strop like he did at the start of the season and in the summer we would have been in a better bargaining position.
-
I feel about Torres the same way I feel about Sheva. Needless transfers not really managerial choices that made us miss out on players who would have made us a lot better in the case of Torres we missed out on Modric and in the case of Sheva it was Daniel Alves. So to me it's not so much how awful Torres has been for over an year but rather how it was a completely wasteful considering in the case with Torres we had Sturridge who had barely played and was send out on loan after a whooping 13 games mostly as a substitute in the League while in games he started like in the FA he had shown enough quality to be though off as a striker here at Chelsea. While with Sheva it was even stranger cause we had an inform Drogba who had difficulty working with other strikers but had developed an almost telepathic understanding with an inform Lampard.
-
Problem is flanks and midfield, we have Lukaku and Sturridge that can play up top if needed but until there is actual natural wide players and some needed movement and passing in midfield other than Ramires. This season should have been scrapped a long time ago with Joshua; Sturridge; Lukaku; Bertrand; Bruma; Romeu; Piazon given a proper season during which we could have gone through a transitional faze. The amount of games that Lampard; Torres; Drogba; Raul; Essien; A.Cole; Malouda; Kalou have gotten this season is sickening considering their production. We have spend about 30 million pounds on central defenders loaning out Bruma to HSV our defense has been in shambles first 6 months. We have been using a forward as a make shift right winger since that was a position we haven't addressed since Duff; Robben and J.Cole left with Anelka; Kalou; SWP all having turns being ineffective from there. We've spend over 60 million on Torres thus far despite having Borini; Sturridge etc in our youth ranks for a few years - plenty of time to give them opportunities as Drogba subs. There is Joshua who should be taking over from Lampard at this time yet he has not been given a run in the team to gain better defensive capability. A.Cole until recently had played 90 minutes in 95% of all of our games while we have a perfectly good youngster to give him a rest from time to time. Shambolic season which would have been easier to swallow had there actually been any attempt to revamp our squad - instead just papering over the cracks.
-
Sturridge has more goals in the EPL than Torres and Drogba combined it's about time him and Lukaku are given more chances up top and the likes of Torres are moved off to the right wing before being sold off at a major loss by the club in the summer. I can tell you right now that in terms of Match winning goals Sturridge beats out both and Lukaku beats out both in hunger and drive. It's quite easy to make a profit for Sturridge but in the end that profit will come back to bite us in the ass.
-
Tired of these gutless performances, Raul scores one goal - back in the first 11 straight away; not good enough to be starting in a team with CL aspirations. Mikel and Lampard are two of the slowest midfielders in the league at the moment - I'm sure that Charley Adam would outrun em at this point. Most of our problems stemmed from the fact that Ramires was taken out of a position in which he is effective and moved to the right wing so our manager can make a point. It's very disappointing and anyone who thinks that if Sturridge or Lukaku had played on the top for most of our season wouldn't have gotten a better record than Torres & Drogba in the EPL are blinkered. Kalou was Kalou I found him to be the least of our worries.
-
He is making over 150 k p/w either way we are screwed - it's about people realize how severe the situation is
-
If we manage to sale our "creative spark" for some money I'd personally be ecstatic
-
Great goal, but comparing him to Ballack is just plain wrong. Raul seems to only excel at scoring wonder goals once in a full moon - other part of his game are just "decent"
