  1. Just relax a little bit, this is all warm up until the Euro Cup Game and the EPL - everything else is simply to be physically prepared for the new season, while gelling with the new players we brought in. Don't read too much into results from friendly matches.
  2. Can't wait until the EPL starts all these signing will give us a completely new outlook and approach to games. After winning the CL, with a core that's been around for nearly a decade - we now are building up another CL winning squad. Happy days. Haven't seen much of Oscar so I will be watching the Olympics very closely
  3. Are Riise and Bellamy also World Class because they scored against Barca or was Baros World Class when he won the Golden Boot in 2004? Compare Torres to the likes of Zlatan; Benzema; Kun; Rooney; over the last 3 years, hell compare him to Falcao, Neymar, Tevez, RvP, Higuain, Milito; Cavani; RvP; Drogba who has been poor last two years still has many more goals than Torres. Simply put at the moment Torres should not be mentioned as World Class unless you don't mind me calling you delusional. Come back when he starts scoring 20 goals a season again
  4. I don't know, why you wonder why there is backlash against Torres when people make comments like this - Torres hasn't been World Class in 3 years. A World Class Striker scores a bit more than 21 goals in 93 games and most certainly isn't a sub in big games
  5. Gutted for him if he misses the Olympics, but he should concentrate on resting up and making a fast recovery.
  6. The main problem is what we face week in, week out in the EPL. Not a lot of teams really allow us much space for the passes in channels he enjoyed at Liverpool - with a bit of injection of pace from our new signings it might create a bit more space for him - but probably around 15 teams in the EPL will play defensive against us without much space. Sure he ain't the player he was pre-injury but he would still be a good player at a team which is allowed to play on the counter. The key for Torres is how quickly Chelsea transitions when we win back the ball, if we transition quickly into attack there might be a bit more space for him to run into - main problem is he is unable to beat most defenders 1 on 1 and he is not confident in front of goal. He will be our main striker but we need to keep Sturridge around because if he misfires in the first half dozen games - he needs to be benched and used the way Spain used him at the Euro. Bring him on against Tired defenses - sell him off in the winter so we get him off our wage bill.
  7. It's true, this is possibly the last summer where he would have anywhere near value that would allow us to recoup some of his transfer fee - but that's not really something Roman cares too much about - if he decides he can sell him for 1 million in the winter. As long as he has Roman's backing he will stick around.
  8. He might be our main striker next season but not even for an ounce of time at Chelsea FC has he proven that he deserves to be the main striker of a club that just won the CL. Let's just put it this way - Torres doesn't have a match winning goal in the EPL, his form has been of a 3rd rate striker for over an year and a half - and he has always been underwhelming with the Spanish NT playing in front of the best midfield as far as national team football in the last decade. As you yourself said he is a 20 goals per season striker, and I will continue with the fact that he used to be able to create chances for himself with his explosive speed and acceleration - he would still fit in well for a team that plays counter attacking football. But Torres's speed is no longer at that level - on top of that Chelsea isn't a team where you'd expect us to play too many matches with a counter attacking intend. Torres is going to find it difficult next season as well - as teams line up against us and we need to methodically break them down. If you watched many of our games last season you would have noticed the amount of time Torres wasn't able to get ahead of his marker when there was a cross coming in he would stand 10 meters away dead in his tracks ball watching or expecting the perfect ball to land in his feet.
  9. The same striker who has, only once in his entire career (11 full seasons including one in 2nd division) scored over 20 league goals in a season (07-08, his first in England), and who has only once scored over 30 goals in all competitions (same 07-08 season). A striker who over the last 3 years, has scored only 16 league goals in 69 appearances, 21 goals in 83 appearances in all competitions, and for his national team has scored 5 goals in 23 appearances. And people tell us to eat humble pie in a few months after we have "build a team that suits Torres" - well Torres ain't worthy to build a team around, maybe if we were Liverpool but not a club that's challenging for the Champions League and other titles. His time at Chelsea FC have proven this not 15 minutes in a game against Italy it was the systematic failure at Chelsea that made me loose hope - not some cameo at the Euro. Although the cameo was systematic of what mainly worries me about Torres, he doesn't have the mentality and to be the main men at a team like Chelsea. Give him the captaincy at some always second team like Pathetico and Looserpool
  10. Soldado and Adrian snubbed in the end Spain will end up playing with Cesc up top - DB is a making big mistakes, he should have been playing either of Soldado or Llorente up top. From the post match interview DB hinted that Torres's role would be similar to this game; coming on late and running at the tired defenders but Adrian could have done the very same thing.
  11. All of Torres club level trophies have been won in CFC Pre-injury Torres, mentally was a different player than the one we have witnessed at CFC. Carew scored a backheal to eliminate Real Madrid in the CL - Real Madrid have been clowns 10 seasons in a row in the CL Cesc aint a striker, it's a DB problem not playing Llorente; not brining Adrian or Soldado. When Spain crush out DB will be the one under the knife. In the end Cesc was more effective than Torres up top but no doubts Spain had better options.
  12. It's not about his runs, it's an issue of mentality Torres seems to expect a certain treatment; team to play a certain way; certain team mates; but in terms of mentality in big matches he seems to lack the balls required to succeed. He hasn't dealt with the pressure of being in a club challenging for trophies and needs someone to take the pressure off him. He seems to shy away from doing things instinctively, which he will naturally do if he wasn't a player with such fragile mentality and confidence. This is what worries me personally banking everything on a guy who is injury prone and has been a mental wreck. Every time things pick up for him he winds up in the same hole a few days later - and his real stand out performances for Chelsea FC were against Genk; LC; Benfica all games where the pressure wasn't quite as high as later matches during which he was watching Drogba do his thing from the sideline. He is 28 year old, I'd expect a little more balanced individual at this point of their career, there isn't a lot more time for CFC to wait for Torres, if he doesn't score regularly in our first 5-10 games he should be dropped and sold off in the winter, just so we get his wages off our bill.
  13. Soldado has more chances banging two goals in the next game Expect Spain to progress from their group with Torres possibly scoring one goal in an already decided game, than they will blow out in the next round since there isn't Villa to provide them with the 1-0 win.
  14. Maybe Roman has a relative that fancies him Don't envision Spain winning the Euro without Villa
  15. 90% of which he created for himself, unlike other players he is able to beat players and waste chances.
  16. Main thing is that if he doesn't score regularly bench him time rather than waste half a season hoping for him to find his groove back - it should be the same for all the players. Took coaches far too long to bench him, besides I don't really think he is getting his "groove" back he has been like this since he joined us one good game - we hope he is finally back and than 3 times in a row he would be mediocre. It got very frustrating for me personally since both Drogba and Torres were struggling mid season, yet AVB didn't have the balls to play Sturridge or Lukaku up top during that period. Going 700 minutes without a goal would mean he played a lot during this portion of the season instead of watching one of the youngsters from the bench and motivating himself to do better. His mentality is also a problem, he seems to look at faults within the team rather than focusing on himself and wondering why in certain position he takes a touch too many or squares it to someone else instead of putting the ball in the back of the net. Lastly it's his physical condition which will never recover the same explosive nature it had prior to his injuries.
  17. The whole midfield excuse is getting really tiresome, we didn't have a proper width and midfield for a while now - but I struggle to comprehend anyone claiming that the likes of Gerrard; Kuyt; Lucas; etc are much superior to what Torres had to work with here. Also you always fail to mention him being out form for his National Team playing in front what has been the best Midfield in the last 2 decades at National Level. In any case I'm tired of people blaming Chelsea FC over how Torres was handled, the fact is that he was 1st choice initially for 3 coaches - and overtime each one dropped him in favor of Drogba(despite his poor form under AVB and Carlo). There should be no revision of history, and laying blame on a Champions League winning squad is obviously moot and degrades what we have achieved this year.
  18. Why is it we are blamed if Torres doesn't work out? Ball is in his court, Chelsea has done absolutly everything to help him for over a year now - he has been played despite being unable to score in 700 minutes in the EPL, doesn't matter who was coach(Carlo; AVB; RDM) Torres always got the benifit of the doubt.
  19. You have to keep in mind that Ivanovic will be our first choice right back, if Danny Simpson has a reasonable price and wage demands I do think he would be a good option.
  20. Should we expect to sign a right wing back up to Ivanovic now or will one of the younger lads be given a chance. There were rumors about Danny Simpson so I guess he is one of the targets we are looking at.
  21. Maybe he realizes that if he is to be a bit part player at the club he would need to get a lower wage or otherwise be pushed out of the Champion's League Winners squad altogether.
  22. Maybe we are negotiating a new contract to get him tied up on a lower wage? I don't know, maybe with enough time without getting injured again he can slowly regain his form and be a good player to have - but at the moment he doesn't add very much to our squad.
