I thought I went easy on him after that comment actually, but I guess there are idiots out there that are willing to stick up for the retarded comments some members make in this forum

Nope, for example Moses had more shots and less through balls last season than Sturridge yet we signed him. The whole Sturridge is overly selfish tripe is unfounded - if you for example say that he made an incorrect decision when there were better alternatives it would be correct but Sturridge is no more selfish than a lot of players in the League. AVB is the one who decided to play a left footed player on the right wing after we failed to sign anyone else, and Sturridge managed to win us as many points as Lampard last season last season. Our managers are obviously under pressure to play particular players up top even if we have better alternatives.

It's actually 172 minutes per goal if I include his stint with Bolton.Four season he has had a total of 5504 minutes on the field, scoring 32 goals. No doubt he will be in double figures if he is fit at his next club and playing regularly. Torres has over 2100 minutes in just half a season. Yet some people say we've given Sturridge a chance. Hope we get Benzema in the summer if the Falcao to Real rumors are true
-
I would say that a goal every 188 minutes on the field on average in 4 seasons is quite good, it's another matter he was never given a prolonged run in the team in his favorite position.

+1 A long way from convincing me that he deserves automatic first choice after January but we shall see how things play out till then. Still disappointed with the subs that were made apart from the one which was necessary and the second half performance.
-
He had a great game, wont mean anything if he cannot maintain that after we return from Japan
-
Fracking Rafa, bringing off Moses for Bertrand when you have Marin on the bench gifting Sunderland the initiative.
-
LoL second time Sunderland tried to assist Torres, this time he is unlucky not to score - but Mata is there for the rebound
-
Good first half, especially for Torres.
-
LOL Torres even getting assisted by Sunderland defense, they must feel sorry for him
-
Why are you even trying to pass to Torres
-
Exactly, a team that has the worse record in the CL this season - with no chance of even qualifying for the Europa League. Missing their first choice center back, missing back up center backs, getting their other center back injured, playing a right back and midfielder in central defense after the 9th minute of the match. A team against whom we created 30 chances out of which at least 10 were clear cut scoring opportunities. I'm sure we would win the League if we had to face Nords 38 times per season but even QPR would beat that lot 9 times out of 10.

He was available for 14 matches this season which is a total of 1260 minutes this season and played 320 minutes.

You know what our style of play won us, the Champions League. Nando the passenger won his FIRST ever trophies at club level at CFC, by being a back up player for Drogba. Things he could only dream of as a striker for a mid level club like Liverpool, but as it turned out Liverpool was his level. Three Coaches have relegated him to the bench because he just is not good enough. He was on the bench for Spain's most important games in the Euro with a midfielder being favored over him. Sheva and Nando were wasted well before they joined us, but at least Sheva never moaned to the media after we won a trophy - he was a classy guy who fared much better than Fernando despite being older; coming from a different league and coaches never accommodating him the way Carlo; AVB and RdM tried to accommodate Torres. Torres has played 6000 minutes for Chelsea since joining, averaging a goal every 285 minutes. Torres has scored 7 goals which have secured us points during 2 years at the club - Sturridge had 9 goals which won us points last season alone. Go back to RAWK or whatever hole you came out of.
-
Enough for him to get dispossessed 5.3 times per match on average. Torres will not prove us wrong, when he exits Chelsea he will be regarded as the biggest flop in World Football. Your posts are a farce, blaming the system for his continued failure to score goals, create his own chances, make runs and keep possession. In the end he is just an average striker who has no place in the first team in a club challenging for the Champion League places
-
On average Mata 2.5 key passes in the League + Hazard 2.1 key passes in the League, total being 4.6 key passes per game. It's not their problem Torres is either hiding away from these passes or loosing possession as soon as they do find him.
-
Yeah and we have Hazard and Mata who have a combined tally of 11 assists in the League and make 4 key passes per game which is better than any other attacking midfielders in the League. Not sure what your point is.
-
Rooney also has 7 assists in the League
-
Torres has scored a goal for every 239 minutes he has been on the field. Rooney has scored a goal for every 158 minutes he has been on the field. Balotelli has scored a goal for every 239 minutes he has been on the field. Tevez has scored a goal for every 172 minutes he has been on the field. Aguero has scored a goal for every 167 minutes he has been on the field. Dzeko has scored a goal for every 119 minutes he has been on the field Podolski has scored a goal for every 208 minutes he has been on the field. Giroud has scored a goal for every 236 minutes he has been on the field. He scored more goals because he plays far too much compared to the other guys you mentioned.

Nope we didn't make it look easy - Nords were abject and their team was suffering injuries to key players fielding a right back and central midfielder in their central defence.

You think we would not win against Nords if Marin and Piazon were on the field ahead of Mata or Hazard ? I find that type of thinking absolutely misguided

Benitez was the one complaining that the players were burned out, yet at the first opportunity to give them a proper rest against an opposition which had a make shift defence he played our big guns. If we end up with a negative result against Sunderland I wonder if he will back to blaming fatigue

Lampard and Sturridge hopefully on the bench for this game - that would be a big boost.
-
It's between Luiz and Hazard for me, I actually prefer Luiz at the moment but he needs to sort out his defensive lapses to ensure he is in the squad in the first place to take those penalties.
-
It was a good performance against abject opposition, not sure why both Hazard and Mata played so much. Should have started Marin in this match, keeping our best players fresher for Sunderland.
