  1. He plays for Lyon, so que a little biography from me £11 million for Ben Arfa is a steal. He is fully experienced in the Champions League and can play in any of three positions - central attacking midfield, on the wings and as a second striker. He is an excellent dribbler of the ball and has a wicked delivery from set pieces, and to cap it all, he is only 21.
  2. If we can get Deco for a cut price, then it is an excellent acquisition, no doubt.
  3. That way we won't be having as many midweek matches.
  4. I don't. Mourinho was a great manager but his era has ended.
  5. "I'm sure I saw him in an Arsenal shirt five years ago..."
  6. Michael Ballack... what a goal!
  7. Hindsight is a beautiful thing, isn't it? But if you look at it, Grant came so close to a treble last season, hopefully Scolari can go one better and win something.
  8. No doubting he is a good, inventive player, but I'd take Lampard and Balley over Dicko any day of the week.
  9. He was behind Duff and Robben in 2005, he's developed as a player since then. He got into the team ahead of both of them the following season and he is more of a playmaker who operates out wide than an out and out winger anyway.
  10. Its clear Abramovich wants instant success, and instant success means changing manager every few years I guess.
  11. Yes, he is very tenacious, much like Cole. If he is as good as Ashley Cole is for us, then we've definitely landed a top player.
  12. Well we just have to take each game seriously and as it comes. I think we will win the league next season after coming so close last year.
  13. Finishing away is much more difficult IMO, because the home team always tends to perform well on the last day of a season. We really need to up our game at home this season, we need to stop fearing big teams ruining our home record and just play our football. I'd rather finish up the season with United's record at home last season than our's - they won 17, drew 1 and lost 1 - we won 12 and drew 7.
  14. Well apparently Scolari likes playing youngsters, so I wouldn't rule the young players out completely.
  15. No season is easy, but the way we seem to have blocks of tough opposition within the space of a couple of months means one thing only - we get blocks of easier matches as well.
  16. I agree, but keeping him would be such a boost for the team.
  17. Difficult start to 2009 with United, Liverpool and Villa in the first few weeks of 09.
  18. O ye of little faith, I remember the same being said of a certain Joe Cole a few years back Czechs completely collapsed in that game. Karel Brucker obviously never learned to play Jenga. Took off Plasil and they fell to pieces. Cech made one error in that game and it cost his team. That's football for you.
  19. Torres and Villa are different types of strikers, but I know what you are saying. Torres' game suits the Premier League more than it does in La Liga, whilst I think Villa's technique of playing behind another striker is more suited in Spain where there is more space.
  20. His finishing is awful? Have you seen some of the goals he's scored this season? Even Ronaldo couldn't finish like Cole did against West Ham both home and away, and Blackburn and Everton away. And no, he doesn't disappear in big games. If you're basing that on evidence of the last few games of the season, he disappeared entirely against every team because he was absolutely knackered. Cole played 54 games last season, and ran himself into the ground in the vast majority of them. But on evidence of last season on the whole, if Joe Cole isn't good enough for you then maybe the rest of our squad isn't, because bar perhaps Carvalho, Cole was the star performer of last season.
  21. Sebek is still only very young and very inexperienced. The sort of cover we need is a promising yet experienced youngster, like Ochoa or Neuer, although they are bad examples because their attitude doesn't suit that of someone willing to sit on the bench
  22. Regarding injuries, I'll say no more, knowing me I'll jinx it and we'll have to play Drogba in goal. But if that happens, at least we'll know he will dive for everything.
