  1. Whether he comes or not, relax and bask in the great feeling of being champions of europe for at least a whole year
  2. A third?! It's great being european champions
  3. Marin is effectively a punt. But if he unlocks the potential he undoubtedly possesses we could have a gem on our hands that we have not paid out massively for.
  4. That is the biggest worry. I would love torres to succeed but it is a massive risk to have only him as a senior striker at the club. With hulk he can play on the right so torres has the chance to be the main striker but it gives us an option if torres struggles.
  5. I don't trust those wages. Apparently he was only on about £30-40k pw at porto. I'm sure he would be happy with his wages being doubled and that will be enough.
  6. Madrid play one of higuain and benzema. Look at united and city's options in attack. They always have a strong team and strong bench, something we've lacked at times in last couple of years. This has to be rectified now whilst we're european champions as its then far easier to attract top players.
  7. And what happens if Torres gets seriously crocked or still struggles for form next season, we can't expect to place that much pressure and reliance on two inexperienced young players to shoulder the goalscoring burden in sturridge and lukaku. We must have another option.
  8. We have to consider that despite our european run, our league form last season showed clearly the quality in depth of our squad wasn't sufficient enough. This coming season we will be competing for seven trophies, and in all likelihood playing somewhere in the region of 60 games during the season. Add that to a number of players getting little break this summer with the Euros and Olympics and next season will be very hard and rigorous. De Bruyne and Lukaku will benefit from loan moves where they will play week in week out in a stronger league and develop, like Courtois has done. Therefore IMO Hulk is a requirement for a player still young enough to play for another 5-6 years at the top but gives what is fast becoming a much younger looking attacking unit a bit of experience. Marin, Hazard, Hulk, Mata, Ramires for the three spots. Torres and Sturridge for the striker spot. Hulk can also play the striker spot if required and likewise Sturridge a wide spot. Add then possibly younger players like Kakuta, McEachran, Piazon to the mix and we will have a very good balance within the side.
  9. Apparently we were the first big club abroad to start scouting him when he was 17 so thats 4 years ago. He was reportedly very flattered at the time. So fuck off City. The greatest season in 40 odd years and the way the league was won but no one was talking about it a week later cos it was upstaged by us. You've got a way to go before you're at our level!
  10. Not necessarily. I'm sure when he joined he expected to be loaned out for 3-4 years minimum. I understand that Chelsea's plan is to loan him back out to Atletico Madrid next season because he was so successful there this year and will be guaranteed another year of top level football, then a couple of years in the Premiership. By then Petr Cech will have been at the club for 11 years and at 33 would be coming up to a 'now or never' scenario whether he would want to play in and experience a different country. As long as Courtois is playing he will be fine and happy to bide his time and wait. But this is fantastic news - Cech was one of our better performers last season and his performances in the Champions League were nothing short of heroic!
  11. I heard from somewhere that Gourlay reckons we'll earn serious millions from this champions league win, and expect to be now around the break even point after this. The transfer fee's aren't even the big problem, it's the wages, and they will be streamlined by moving on some of the older players on high wages this summer. (Drogba, Essien, etc) I believe we want Hulk aswell and plan on buying both.
  12. Firstly still erring on the side of caution until the deal is wrapped up and we see him shaking hands with Gourlay and holding up a Chelsea shirt outside Cobham on our website. However it would be a monumental fuck up now if he didn't join us. I have already said that I heard an interview from an Italian agent who said Chelsea's principal transfer targets this summer are Hazard, Hulk, Fellaini and Van Der Wiel and they expect to get all of them. This will make a real statement of intent from Abramovich.
  13. Caught offside full of shit mate but it is looking optimistic that both could happen
  14. If this happens youwonder whether Joe Cole has helped influence his decision as i would expect a glowing endorsement from a player loved by the fans when he was here.
  15. We're European champions. Now is the right time to strengthen seriously. Our biggest area of concern has been our wide positions for the last few seasons - buying Hazard and Hulk would be a serious statement which I believe is what Roman is looking to do. De Bruyne will likely go out on loan next season and Lukaku may do aswell. Therefore Hulk would be a necessary purchase.
  16. It was something i found and was listening to on the internet - really can't remember where from sos mate. Would be prettyspecial though if that was our transfers for this summer.
  17. Very true, probably put that a bit wrong. Meant the ending in terms of finally winning the champions league for the first time. I too, don't believe we're anywhere near the end of this era/cycle of success and trophies.
  18. He's definately a big improvement on bossie and is about 6/7 years younger. Branna's defensive strengths will be good against the better teams but against smaller teams willing to sit and defend at the bridge, his pace and ability out wide could be vital to breaking down teams like this.
  19. I was also just thinking what if we had done what we should have done back in 2004 - in the semi finals with Monaco, Porto and Deportivo we really should have gone on and won the Champions League in Roman's first season. If that had been accomplished I wouldn't have been surprised to expect at least two or three over the next 8 or 9 seasons. But I'm glad we didn't looking back now in hindsight. Otherwise those seemingly unjust losses to Liverpool and Barcelona wouldn't have hurt so much. The penalty shootout loss to United wouldn't have felt like the world had just caved in. The level of pride and appreciation at what the club managed to accomplish during this seasons competition can never be overstated. But it's the pain suffered on the journey of the last few seasons which has allowed us to saviour this cup so much. The sense of satisfaction is something money can't buy and I would happily relive all the pain all over again to experience the happy ending once more!
  20. We win the Champions League and all is back positive, being linked with some of the most sought after players in europe. Bayern lose the final, panic and resign Claudio Pizarro at the age of 33.
  21. If there was one statement to show just what an achievement we managed it was after the match when Heynckes was asked why Neuer was in the first five penalty takers and it was because he didn't have five penalty takers willing to step up and take one. Now we are talking about one of the most successful club sides in world football. German no less, who many symbolise with an unbreakable inner confidence and arrogance in their ability and 'bottle'. A team who has never lost a penalty shoot out in european competition in their history. In front of their home fans in the biggest club match of each season. Flip that round to us, never having won the champions league. English, notorious for bottling it in penalty shootouts. A team who has not won a meaningful penalty shoot out since Roman bought the club, including losing our only other final appearance on penalties. Taking penalties in front of the opposition fans. Torres put himself forward for a pen and wasn't even in our top six. The iron will, desire and determination caused the unbreakable to be broken down. Schweinsteiger couldn't watch Robben's penalty - because the pressure had got to him witnessing that we just could not be beaten. We completely broke them down!
  22. Yeah but i don't think madrid and inter are prepared to pay what sao paulo are asking.
  23. I heard an interview from some Italian super agent yesterday, i cannot remember from where but it was his belief that Chelsea's four transfer targets this summer were Hazard, Hulk, Fellaini and Van Der Wiel. In turn Drogba, Kalou, Bosingwa, Ferreira and Essien would all leave. Chelsea were confident in all although not 100% with Hazard, hence the enquiries for Lucas Moura. The original plan if Hazard does join is to go back for Moura either next summer or after the world cup in Brazil. De Bruyne and Courtois will go out on loan next season and Lukaku may also go on loan. According to this bloke aswell United will sign Gaitan and Kagawa and City will sign Dani Alves and Van Persie. If people had the choice now would they take that?
  24. Would make sense for Napoli. I understand PSG are favourites for Lavezzi.
  25. Van Der Wiel is a lot better than Bosingwa - a deal between £10-12m would be good business.
