Before you get too cocky that any player would go to you over anyone else if you show an interest, this is just a reminder that CHELSEA ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!!! :blue scalf: And you wanted both Hazard and Lukaku and I don't see either of them pitched up in Madrid
-
Lots of reports his release clause is only £8m, but Lille likely to accept between £6-7m. I agree, we have to move for him for that sort of money. Given our recent negotiations with Lille for Hazard which I assume went smoothly, surely it would put us in a strong position to negotiate with them again for Debuchy.

Sorry that wasn't worded well. I mite have considered piszczek if he was younger but as he's a similar age to debuchy i would prefer the frenchman because i've been more impressed with him when watching.
-
Didn't realise he was 27. I would prefer debuchy.

I've lost count how many times this is said but brana won't play 60 games a season! Bosingwa managed i think about 35-40 appearances last season - do you honestly expect an 18 year old to play that amount of games?!
-
Similar to Zola Would he play RW in a 4-2-3-1 alongside mata and hazard?
-
Haven't really seen him mate but i know zola rates him VERY highly. Dunno about his worth - how much are juventus paying for parma's 50%? If he's worth £15-20m on top of £24m cash then i'd be inclined to sell torres (reluctantly)
-
I heard it was £24m + Giovinco. However parma own 50% of his rights so not sure how that would work.
-
Agreed. For every bad reference you can find a good one and vice versa. Just ask john terry what he thinks of marcel and you'll find a depiction of a near perfect captain and role model.

People have to appreciate that the foreign lads will have grown up following other clubs in other leagues, etc. Look at Zola - when chelsea played napoli he didn't want to lean to prefer either, he loves both clubs. But when it comes to the prem he'll always support us. And Desailly was interviewed before the champions league final saying how desperate he was for chelsea to win it. In fact given we were not a european powerhouse 15 years ago, to have players like gullit, desailly and vialli who had enjoyed stellar careers and were in their twilight years, talk fondly of their time at the club still now and continue to follow us is something special!
-
Yeah i don't want him now for the prices quoted but we have actually been linked with him going back to the days of scolari and since then porto snapped him up for about £10m. Thats what leaves the bitter taste is what we could have brought him for a couple of years ago, its hardly like he was an unknown back then.
-
Sounds like a decent deal for Valencia
-
He's been poor in this Euros but then the whole Holland squad have. However I would prefer Debuchy. I haven't really watched any of him at Lille but apparently he's been very consistent there. I've seen the last half a dozen France games and he looks good.

That's a lovely part of the country for the two weeks every year of 'hot weather' england gets!
-
Apparently noone, in my high level of wisdom i made the language up!
-
Yeah guess everywhere's got problems and issues. Could be worse though cap...you could live in liverpool, england!!! And i'm sure we could bring dennis wise back for a month to give him a crash course of swear words and cockney rhyming slang!
-
Nah england isn't all bad and it's so small you wouldn't have problems living in the middle of nowhere. True i never knew that about belgium - fucks up my assumption then! Would lukaku speak french?
-
I live in a ghetto (or at least what half the little teenage shits round here think it is) most famous for where Fred and Rose West lived and mass murdered!
-
Well surely he speaks Belgian?! Seeing as we're buying half the country's players I'm sure he'll be ok. Lukaku obviously speaks fluent English and pretty sure De Bruyne and Courtois do too so should be no problems there! Don't provide needless excuses to keep hold of Malouda!
-
I wouldn't bother, it's overrated!
-
I agree with you spike, but unfortunately this comment could easily be copied and slightly amended to be used for John Terry. If Chelsea didn't pay him the earth, he would have gone to Man City. Yes I know he loves the club, but IMO the money Man City were waving in his face outweighed the loyalty. What irked me about that whole situation was that he kept quiet and wouldn't comment, and then when the contract was signed he said it was never in doubt he wouldn't leave Chelsea. If that was the case why didn't he come out in public and say he didn't want to leave Chelsea and was currently in contract discussions to extend. I love John but that situation did leave a bitter taste for me.

Ha ha thats why they say listen to your elders! And that bleacher report article is utter wank! Hazard may take time to adjust but ultimately he has the tools to become one of the greatest ever at this football club.
-
They do like to think they're getting a bargain. After all Levy's reported preference in hiring AVB is believed to have something to do with no compensation to pay out!

I think circumstances in England are different to that in America too. Most university courses are 3 years so people finish at 21. A lot of people, including me, also finish school at either 16 or 18 and go down the apprenticeship route which means whichever profession they move into they are generally qualified in by the time they hit 20/21. As I said everybody's circumstances are different. But I will refer back to and stand by my feeling that I would rather a Chelsea player be settled down and going home to his family at night, bed early, etc, than living a wild, partying lifestyle. I have a sister 7 years younger than me and a brother 10 years younger than me. I would encourage them to follow the path that makes them happy but not rush into making life changing decisions.

Each individual and circumstance should be treated singularly. There isn't no right or wrong answer. What I would say is that children change your life forever. I never realised or appreciated prior to my daughter being born the time, effort and responsibility involved. You will never enjoy the level of independence and sense of freedom that you perhaps did before. Having said that, I would do it all again because she is the most important thing in my life and worth it all.
