JT will probably be a starter for a couple more seasons unless injuries ruin it for him, so with David Luiz at the club, I wonder if Cahill would want to come and be the 3rd choice CB. And where would this leave Ivanovic? Bosingwa is doing decently so far this season and AVB favours him to Ivanovic at RB

It is clear Wenger is no longer in full control of the club. He wasn't in charge of the last minute transfers that they made last week. And now they have injuries to their two most important players - Vermaelen and Wilshere. If things continue, the board will have no choice but to get rid of him.

What formation would you play?

Piazon? You've got to be joking. It will be at least 18mths - 2 years until Piazon will be ready to feature consistently for us, if at all. Frankly, I am not all that impressed by him at the moment. We will have to see how he gets on with reserve team football or at another club on loan which is what will probably happen. -
Yeah my dad (liverpool fan) has been saying that all along. He says he's physically weak. So people need to calm down with the "he's going to boss the game with his strength" comments and wait and see how he does first.

Champions League and PL cannot be compared. They are totally different.

What Lampard's England exclusion does for Chelsea...

Wonder if he'll get to play in the Euros. If he won't, then he should just retire right now. -
Obviously, it's good to have English players, but I'd rather sign Mata than, say, Downing. Quality comes first. and it's a fact that right now, continental players are more talented than English players (as a general statement)
-
He is not a capable footballer. I wouldn't even have him in my pub team. You can excuse the occassional miscontrol or mispass but the guy can't even control the football.
-
I see Phil Jones as the future English captain more than Smalling tbh
-
I'll nominate madmax and ulsterchelsea!
-
What I meant was we needed a creative player more than Meireles. Now that we have him, okay, good. I did say he's a good player. And for the price, it's decent. But if you told me six weeks ago that we would only sign him as a midfielder then I would be disappointed. Wouldn't you?
-
Alex, I hate you!
-
But how would that be possible? Highly doubt that this could be true

Next summer we will see Andre stamp his mark on the team
francozola replied to Tomo's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Agreed, I think FB made a post in the transfer section a while back about this as well. Next season will see the most transfer activity, because all of our old players will be leaving/benched. Anelka, Drogba, Kalou, Malouda, Ferreira, Essien, Alex will likely be leaving, Lampard and possibly A.Cole will be substitutes. I just hope that Roman has a long term plan with Andre. -
Arteta is not the player he was 2 years ago. He's decent but no way can he and Benayoun replace Fabregas & Nasri. The gap in quality is too wide.
-
yeah maybe "poor signing" is a bit harsh but I didn't mean it to reflect his qualities as a player but rather that the club didn't get a more creative midfielder which is what we were crying out for. and what did GS say? Can it really be possible that there's another signing? I thought the deal had to be done by 11pm and medical and rest by 1am?

most sources including ssn saying 12m

I hope so, but personally can't see it.

Okay, so deadline-day was highly disappointing. Everyone was freaking out (me as well to a certain extent) but the posts claming we are going to get trounced by Liverpool, Arsenal, etc were just lol-worthy. FFS. I hope everyone has calmed down by now. What we have done this summer: Thibaut Courtois - 8 million Excellent prospect, decent price. Great job sending him out on loan to a good club where he'll get to play week-in-week-out. Conclusion: Very good signing Oriol Romeu - 4.5 million loan Pissed off that Barca has included a buy-back clause in his contract but I'm sure that if he is successful and happy here, he will decide to stay. And worse comes to worse if Barca do decide to recall him, we'll still make a bit of dosh Conclusion: Good signing Romelu Lukaku - 18 million Again, wonderful prospect. He's already shown glimpses of what he can do (and what Drogba & Torres aren't doing) and has a great attitude. Very reasonable price as well Conclusion: Very good signing Juan Mata - 25-27 million Just what we needed. A bit of flair, movement and intelligence. He's young and he's hungry and also possibly the key to unlocking Torres. Conclusion: Brilliant signing Raul Meireles - 12 million Good player, but the simple fact is that we just do not need him. This has left me baffled. Why, oh why have we swapped Benayoun for Meireles? Will Lampard be dropped for Raul? No. It will probably be Ramires who makes way - which is a damn shame. I wouldn't have minded him if we had a creative midfielder signed up as well. He'll do a good job whenever he plays, I have no doubt about that. But we should have tried for someone else. Conclusion: (EDIT) Average signing I have not mentioned Davila but he's also a decent signing. Plus, we have new players in the form of Sturridge and Bosingwa. Albeit Kalouda is still here but AVB has clearly lost faith in Kalou so I don't think he'll get much playing time. Having Malouda as a sub isn't a bad option. Anyway, the point of this post was to say that the transfer window was not just about yesterday. If it was then I'd be devastated, but we have already made some good inclusions to our squad. It hasn't been ideal, but with the twats that run our club... not everything is going to go smoothly. Yes the whole creative midfielder thing was fucked up but hopefully we'll address it in January. Final point: I hope we never deal with Spurs ever again. Fucking cunts. Modric can go to hell as well. At least Raul put in a transfer request to push through the move. Modric should have done the same and made some noises in the media over the last week to indicate that he wasn't happy there so that there would be more pressure on Levy. I'm glad we didn't end up giving them our money.
-
We better not give them danny
-
What is the point of a deadline day show on CTV if there are no signings? Nobody wants to listen to that twat Cundy drone on and on
-
I think I'm just going to go to bed and wake up 5 hours from now. Was pretty sure we were gonna get modric but I have to admit, looks really unlikely now.
-
What are they saying on CTV?
-
How convenient. If Modric does sign, it was likely to be a 10.59pm type deal anyway. So you will end up looking like some amazing guy with great contacts
-
How the hell does that matter? What a stupid post.
