By that I mean a Hazard/Pato/Higuan/Cavani/Lucas R, nowadays we lack that game changing player (Lampard, Torres etc are all only possible game changers on their day) Teams like Barca, Real, AC a filled with them I'd say we probably only have Mata & (Sturridge), which sometimes just isn't enough. We obviously need a CB with Alex going, and it seems likely that it will be Cahill (in my opinion he is very solid, but we could spend less and buy a potentially more talented player from abroad - like what we did with Romeu) And obviously we lack a midfielder who can make things happen on a regular basis. I'm not sure exactly who this should be tbh, Modric is a very good player no doubt, but I don't think we should dish out the 40+million that's being quoted. Moutinho is possibly a better option being a whole year younger and for almost half the price. But perhaps even better than those, I'd like to see us go for someone on the level of Eriksen for example - young, talented and definitely one which will bring a higher future value if needed.

Exactly, I do think we'll finish in the top 4 but we should use our current position in the UCL for sure. It's disgusting to think that this January Arsenal will now probably be above us now! It's pretty damn clear a defender is just one of few problems. Attacking wise we're desperate for speed,flair and creativity. Yes we have Mata and Sturridge but that will not suffice. If we want to get by we'll go for Krasic and Rodwell but if we want to aim high, and go for number one we need to be going for the likes of Hazard, Pato, Higuain. As much as people say we dodged a bullet with Pastore I think he'd be perfect for our philosophy. In terms of ability and creativity he's got bags of it. Whenever I've tuned into PSG he's played pretty damn good too...

Cech may be solid, but the blunt fact is he need's a genuine no.2 to compete with him for the GK spot. He's reminding me of of Van Der Sar in his last few years, prone to mistakes but generally solid. I do think we should recall Thibaut because if we look at the facts Cech has made some serious point-dropping mistakes - Arsenal, Leverkuson, Liverpool, Wigan, Sp*ds and apparently today (haven't had a chance too see it yet) Maybe if he had been on the form of Krul/Hart we wouldn't have leeked some of the goals we have. He does have the knack of making outstanding saves, as a world-class keeper it's inevitable - but with the utmost respect to Petr I don't see him saving us with those right to left super saves nowadays. Watching City, Newcastle and even Arsenal I've seen their keepers save 2 points or even 1 at times. Back in the days we had Carvalho, Terry and Cech working as a defensive wall under Jose! We don't have a defensive shape as of yet, and Cech is by no means of his Jose form.

I guess Swansea would be 2nd best. Best would be him playing for Chelsea! I know he picked up a niggle but has clearly got the creative talent we're yearning. It's just a no win with Terry. We look at the photo as a standard photo but the majority of the comments are lambasting it as a "sick" and "contrived photo". I wouldn't say he's average he's pretty decent, the English media do of course over-hype 'their' players (which is the norm) but I'd say 7mill isn't too shabby, although I would prefer us targeting the likes of Hummels and Subotic. Or even young prospects from abroad which would definitely be cheaper than 7 mil'. That said AVB has been pretty good in the transfer department so I have no reason to doubt him.
