It is something extra he does. His main priority is attacking wise, and then he's meant to help out at the back and he did and has been doing so. Like i said he will sometimes get some things wrong, be in the wrong position etc but that's common when attackers are asked to defend. Look at Drogba in the CL last season.

Btw Ramires played well i thought. He's no Fernandinho but he works ever so tirelessly, wins so many tackles and bursts forwards like a boss. Glad to have been proved wrong by him, didn't think he would do as well in the double pivot.

It's Cahill's fault

Yeah no doubt, but it's obvious that Luiz is the one that makes the most mistakes when both play together.

He's not a defender, of course his positioning in those areas is not always going to be the best - but he did very well tracking back all game.

Hazard did as good as he could helping him, Bertrand just had a bad game really, from the opening 30 seconds when he gave the ball away.

Once again most of the mistakes by Luiz.

Defence was actually solid today, without David Luiz in there but the forward players did not play as well. It happens though, there will always be games like these over the course of the season.

The problem is Mikel imo. Romeu is being the DM while Mikel is pushing high up but he isn't doing much when he receives the ball, unlike Ramires who can make good runs and also take the ball forward and cause problems. Romeu for Ramires at half time please.
