As a concerned Chelsea fan I am kind of really wondering what it would take for us to turn the season around ? I am ashamed to say that I have lost interest in watching Chelsea matches (no it's not results that I stopped watching its because of how poorly we have been playing) history repeating itself, once we start losing everyone start to hopelessly desperate and in the process we are unable to go back to fundamentals and do that properly. Manager looking clueless, players looking clueless, etc. What I am hoping for is analysis on the matches played and course of action you guys think (please be more informative than just "sack Mourinho", "stop playing Fab/Iva", basically don't point the obvious) what our priorities should be(I know recent run of results would warrant just staying away from relegation zone) I think our first and foremost priority should be defense, try to avoid defeats at all cost( happy with one point to begin with for the next couple of matches) while we work that out slowly develop good football. Clearly result oriented mindset and approach isn't taking us anywhere period. Personally focus only on premier league, use rest of the cup competitions to develop the young players and try different tactics, basically use that as a training ground to play better football while focusing on PL. At this point silverware is not something I care for, obviously good results would be welcomed in that competition but not at the cost of not playing good football/team football (I would take defeats/draws all day long in other competitions to see us improve our play and tactics). Use this season as much as possible to build the long term team, because short fix won't win us the league, so pretty much pointless) figure out kind of players we need or kind of players from our loan list who can fit in, tactics that would exploit the best of everyone we have in our team sheet right now(this part is so try and salvage the way we play in the league). I am keeping sacking Mourinho out of this thread because that is well taken care of in the Mourinho Thread[http://forum.talkchelsea.net/topic/20662-the-mourinho-thread/]. We are currently 15th on the table, what is the most realistic position that you guys think we would/could/should end up/aim for at the end of season( on that note, it is pretty clear Mourinho can't be aimless and be like we will concentrate one match at a time. He needs to set goal, and work towards it). ponder on the following and post your response: 1. What formation or tactics do you think we should adopt going forward? 2. What do you think should be our priority going forward? 3. What position do you want to see Chelsea be at the end of season? 4. January transfer window (who should we buy, how will they fit in the grand scheme of things)? 5. Who should play, who shouldn't? 6. What kind of tactics do you think will get us out of this slump? As a bonus, how did we go from Premier league to staying clear of relegation ? (quiet frankly I knew we weren't good enough to defend title the way we played last season, but this?) Sorry if this repeat I tried to see if there were any other threads but couldn't find one so thought I would create one. PS: Keep this thread as informative as possible please, if you like someone's opinion hit like button(I know that I have been guilty of being the guy who quotes and just types "+1" for response) . In fact I don't even want this to be a discussion thread, I just want it to be opinion thread(one post per member of the forum ) As always mods if you think this thread is useless, feel free to delete/lock/merge it.

Looks like Fergie kind of manager will never happen for us.

These kind of news no longer excites Chelsea fans, we all know they are never going to get into the starting 11. Couple of loans to useless teams in useless leagues and then the eventually get sold on the basis that they didn't prove on their loan spells (FFS). These kind of news just adds more frustration and irritation if any. We will never make/get some on e as United's Martial( I know its to early for that kid too but still he is showing promise).

the team is playing so bad that I have lost all hope. Even if we do end up wining by some freak show chance wee need consistency. Till we win for a month straight I am not going to have high hopes.

That's because everyone wants Hazard to be the one man army and little do they realize it is a team game. And the fact that he has set the benchmarks very high in the previous seasons followed by series of pathetic results. Added to that thanks to Mourinho benching him and constant scrutiny from media which doesn't help the cause in any way. Also now Madrid being linked with him, if it has any kind of credibility associated to it then the media will attach that as another reason for his poor performance. It is kind of really embarrassing to see Mourinho's press conferences. Seriously the club needs to issue a transcript to Mourinho that reads "the other team played better","we weren't good" for what he thought of the match, nothing more nothing less.

Exact same thing here. Weekends used to be waking up early and used to enjoy watching Chelsea play but the way we are playing( not even the results) just frustrates me and spoils my weekend more than anything.
-
Thats because he is the one who got himself into this mess. Right from the word go he has been doing things on and off the press that has tarnished our image and his image among the players, fans, referees, and the media. The manager who was hailed to get the best out of players can seem to get the ordinary stuff out of some of the extraordinary players that we have in out team. We are now on the verge of losing one of the most touted and talented player, who is to blame ? I can't state this enough but we acquired shit players while selling some of the good ones. We are in this mess because of Mourinho, I refuse to believe that our players suddenly just started playing shit for no apparent reason. Clearly the atmosphere in the dressing room isn't looking pretty.
-
I attribute each point in your post to Mourinho. I don't know how he did it but he just turned Hazard from class to utter shit. Playing Zouma out of position was that a way to get Ivanovic back in the team? We still continue to play bad football, getting bad results and still don't play the game as it is supposed to be played.

Fergie was just one player, at Chelsea its way more than one and it is coming back to bite us where as in case of United it didn't bite them hard. No one is crying its just stating facts. Like I said you need to know when you are way over your head. which in our case we don't seem to be realizing.
-
thats what we want to believe. Some times its better to admit you are wrong clearly Mourinho needs to change the way he approaches game and his tactics. I have mentioned it several times in many threads. the replacements to the players sold are no where near the capacity of those players so the math just doesn't add up.
-
But if you look at it form another angle it is good he is giving his predecessor the opportunity to build the team fresh from ground up.
-
does that mean we have a chance ?
-
Yeah right totally forgot lol hopeful we shouldn't be in a situation where you remind this same list 2 months from now
-
Looks like we can never get consecutive wins
-
Do you have a link for that interview ? I would like to watch it .
-
I will be super pissed if we lose Hazard. We have lost couple of good players on the same ground. What's with Mourinho ? Is he trying to get Hazard out in the January window ?
-
While Mourinho is one part of the story, I think we must also look into the way we have been doing business (which in my eyes has been really bad). Klopp to Liverpool means we need to up our game even more, quiet frankly Mourinho cannot and should not cling on to the past( he was special one) and for him to continue to be a special one he needs to prove himself now more than ever because the premier league has managers who are really good and has gotten a lot more competitive than the last time he was here. I can't iterate this enough he should focus on playing good football and the players need to play as a team, good result I believe would be a by product of that. The so called "prove yourself" for a starting 11 spot i feel is killing the team. They need to understand how to cohesively play as a unit.

Pretty much sums our season so far, unlucky. Anti-Chelsea campaign.
-
I would be very happy if that happens because I am torn apart between love the club and special one(unfortunately that doesn't suit him any more). I wanted him out because he isn't doing anything to make us play good football. Results are good but for me I want the team to play fluid, quality football, and play as a team. Which seems to be against Mourinho's philosophy. If a player isn't playing well we need other players to fill in and cover that person which doesn't seem to happen with Mourinho.
-
+1 I was so pissed when I heard we are selling Luiz and Mata.
-
You talk well Jose but then I don't see you taking responsibility. Still fix the problem with the individuals inside the training ground in the team selection and not just in press conferences. As much as you complaint about the penalty Southampton can also say the same during the first half. I would love for you to show that you are the best but unfortunately up until now there is no evidence that is happening
-
sorry but that train left 3 matches ago. You need switch trains if you want to reach your destination.
-
Nvm you meant subbing him. Yes Mourinho has just lost it.
-
Looks like the Media guys were right 3 seasons is how long his motivational speech/ magic works He needs to go primarily because he is looking very clueless with his selection and tactics. He doesn't know how to build the team, make us play like a team. And can't make us play good football.
-
He bought upon himself quiet frankly. Useless banter on the press. I think it started right from the word go starting an unwanted row with the medical staff that unsettled pretty much our season. Like it or not I feel the atmosphere inside the dressing room is very cold. No team play at all.
