  1. We all feel that but he can't score if he doesn't get the ball. We're setting ourselves up for disappointment each game because we keep saying oh he must score in this one, or he'll definitely break his duck today if certain fundamentals don't change--largely, he needs passes his way. And game after game, it LOOKS like some of his teammates do not want to pass to him.
  2. Torres can't score without the ball can he? He's not without fault today but look at all space he's in and Kalou goes for glory himself. A flick over to Nando and it's a sitter.
  3. It makes me chuckle when some LFC fans praising Reina for being honest and straightforward. No shit sherlock, the man has eyes. He saw what the club and fans did to Torres after he acted the discreet professional. We learned after the transfer that he had repeatedly told the club he wanted to leave. There had been offers prior to 2011. He did tell them that the club needed to invest. He had to be persuaded to give the club more time. Finally they agreed to let him go but asked him to keep it quiet so Ajax wouldn't jack up the price for Suarez. Torres kept quiet the entire time. He knew he wasn't going to leave a hero but he asked the club to give him a dignified exit. And they hung him out to dry. You have muppets believing that Chelsea and Liverpool ironed out a 50M deal in three days from first interest to sale. Yeah, right because four days before Liverpool had no idea Chelsea wanted Torres and that he wanted to go. NO IDEA. What's the difference between Reina and Torres? Chelsea came back around for Nando and whatever club it was in the summer, didn't for Reina. That's why one's gone and the other is still there. I don't think it's a given that Reina is leaving for sure, but he's obviously paving the way for a possible departure. After what happened with Torres, Reina is obviously taking a different tack. If he lays it out first, the club can't bury him in a PR war like they did with Nando. Smart guy, he may pull off going to Man U without being as hated as Torres. Pretty funny, but that's Liverpool fans for ya, some are so dopey.
  4. I just feel a big giant jinx will come out of this. This season has proven that there are few easy games. Remember Wolves beating Man U? Having said that, Blackpool is missing their best player and have a porous defense. I would stick Torres up front and tell him not to leave the box and get him off and running for goals.
  5. Guardian article I'm surprised his family hasn't moved down yet, I thought they were in London already. Hopefully he settled quickly. No excuses for not scoring yet, but it's clear he's playing a very game and role at Chelsea to the one he played in Liverpool.
  6. Blackpool swept Liverpool this year but Charlie Adam played in both games. Torres left the Anfield game early due to injury and scored in the second game.
  7. Funny, there’s a thread about this and I’ve pointed out the same things you did in my post there (before coming here) What struck me about last night’s game is how different the setup is to what Torres got in Liverpool. And honestly, I don’t see him scoring at the same rate unless he adapts (really difficult to radically change his game at this stage of career) or if Chelsea adapts the game to him. And obviously, the team should do what’s right for the team and if it means winning but Torres not scoring as much, then that’s the way to go. But people won’t see that and he’ll carry on the flop tag. He spent a lot of time so far away from goal. Thus, even though he was sharper last night in overall play, he was less of a goal threat than in the Copenhagen game where he got off a handful of shots. Other than the disallowed goal, did he have any other close calls otherwise?
  8. I don’t know if it’s just Malouda ignoring him. Nor if it’s even intentional, but I did notice Torres waving his arms a bit and towards the end of the game, doing the “put the ball on my feet” gesture. I also noticed that there were a few times where he was unmarked in the box and the ball never got near him. I don’t know if it’s just a matter of teammates not quite being on the same wavelength or if some have lost confidence in him. Or even if some are intentionally ignoring him. Torres is a pretty quiet guy so I don’t think he’s the type to rub people the wrong way but I wouldn’t be surprised if some in the dressing room resent him. Not on a personal basis but what he represents—changing of the old guard, the owner’s new darling, highest wage earner, etc. I don’t think it’s necessarily a huge deal because they are all professionals but it’s gotta be on the back of some people’s minds and that may manifest in certain behavior or pattern.
  9. So how he did play? And I've asked a couple of times already....where are good places to DL Chelsea games? Have read he had a goal disallowed early on?
  10. Couldn't watch the game until the 65th minute. Happy for the win of course, but the BBC and Guardian texts of Torres was pretty scathing. Was he that bad? From the final 1/3 of the game I did see him getting very frustrated.
  11. Hope I'm wrong but I have a bad feeling about the Drogba-Torres partnership. Torres and Anelka make for much better movement but with Drogba and Torres it could devolve into stagnation if they both want to be the center forward. I can definitely see egos clashing. Torres will make great runs because Anelka is willing to play the second striker role. But I can see Torres getting frustrated if Drogba stays in the middle and won't interchange with him. Then you'll have two strikers sulking, stationary and isolated. I hope to be very wrong and receive deserved stick here.
  12. Tottenham dropped points. Liverpool dropped points. Man City dropped points. I would say 'woohoo time for Chelsea to capitalize!" But it's been a strange season for the entire league.
  13. When he left AM, fans went out to buy his shirt (and still do). When he left Liverpool, they burnt their Torres shirts. Yet, the Scouse will claim, "he'll never be loved like we loved him..."
  14. Very cool photo from a recent Atletico Madrid game. AM photo
  15. I know the NOTW is a tabloid but the story is being carried by other sources now. Even if the NOTW sensationalized the story, the simple fact that Cole would bring an air rifle to the training ground is stupidity beyond belief. You play for one of most high profiled clubs in the world, why would you do something so unprofessional? Then to wave it around without knowing whether or not it was loaded just doubled down the stupidity. To do it in the dressing room and to actually shoot someone? Stupidity doubled plus infinity. I know it wasn't a real gun but a young man was injured and all because of something that could have been easily avoided if a 30 year old man had any sense. If it's true there was an injury, I can see this getting ugly if the police decide to investigate. Not to mention if the victim sues for damages or if the FA look into this too. Then Chelsea may have to "punish" Cole to avoid a PR debacle. Well, at least that's what would happen if this was in the US. Maybe it'll be handled differently in the UK.
  16. I'll have meetings all afternoon on Tuesday and will miss at least the first half of the Man U game. So I'm putting the question out again--recommendations for a reliable place to download Chelsea games?
  17. :champions: Okay, whatever works. Well, I'm a wannabe Torrista, I'm not Spanish and do not go back to his AM days but I support Nando's career and wish him (and the club he plays for) all the best.
  18. No worries, welcome anyway! I'm new here too and am a Torrista
  19. Video of Torres' Copenhagen game. Had some great play there, pity the goal didn't come. Football is cruel, but he's bound to score a few if he keeps up this kind of form. Just needs to sharpen up the shooting. Copenhagen video
  20. Considering CFC are in 5th right now, who cares? Isn't it more important for CFC to finish safely within the Top 4? Would you be happy if Chelsea finish 5th but Arsenal didn't win the PL? Realistically, CFC aren't going to win the league so who cares who wins it other than to ensure CL eligibility at this point? Any points against any team are welcomed. Beggars can't be choosers.
  21. He has said that as a striker, he can miss 9 chances but will still want to take the chance to win the game. I think all good strikers have this mentality.
  22. You're going to be pretty disappointed then. Torres does work hard but he's not the type to run around all over the pitch. He makes good runs and positions himself well. He's clearly getting better with his new teammates but you can still see that he and they aren't on the same page. There were quite a few times where he was expecting a cross or pass and also times when it looks like he's playing at a different speed. He's much more direct and pacey.
  23. Agreed that his shooting could have been better, it's like he's too hesitant to let it fly but what about his attitude? I was watching a stream so maybe my video wasn’t that great. He made some good runs, he beat a couple of defenders and generally looked up for it. The yellow card was a bit silly but I give him credit for recognizing that Copenhagen had a good break and he did his best defensive midfielder imitation. How many “9”s would you see doing that?
  24. An away CL win should never be scoffed at but I do agree that better teams than Copenhagen would have exploited the space Chelsea gave today. There were a few chances where a decent pass would have hurt Chelsea. Luckily Copenhagen was dire.
  25. He's guaranteed to start unless he has an injury. His movement has been good for the team. He just needs a couple of breaks to go his way.
