I think he would suit the way we play better than Lukaku would have, but then again that's not saying much as I think Rom would have been an awful fit.

United fans can gloat as much as they like, if we get Bellotti or even Morata we have done better than them. The same fans thought they were doing a serious number on us appointing Jose and look how that's worked out.

That won't happen this summer, he will want a shot of the CL with us. At worst it would happen next summer but I'd be amazed if it happened this. Either way, if he did his replacement wouldn't have us fighting relegation, that was a unique one off.

The man solely responsible for that farce is gone. And if Conte has us battling relegation aswell then he will be sacked and rightly so. If we have a poor transfer window in the end then you can maybe excuse Conte if we drop a few places, but if a repeat of 15/16 happens only one man would be responsible.

That's funny because in my group of CFC supporting friends i'm often called up for being too negative and not even they are particularly positive, so if i'm sounding like Ty here that says more about the current state of this place than it does me. I will criticise when i see fit. However i have on and off helped run my local team for years (which has often included helping negotiate transfers and helping identify parts of the team that need upgrading) and i just find these simplistic notions difficult to accept.

These same incompetent members that decided on the likes of Courtois, Hazard and De Bruyne for a combined £49m? Ironically it was giving a manager more power than he should have got that lost us the latter. The only manager that definitely got total control was Fergie, and while his success on the pitch was unprecedented his flop:good signing ratio was well to high, especially in his later years.

Manager's should never get COMPLETE control.

The Kante deal last summer they cited how quick the time frame between rumours starting and deal being done was impressive and that they wished they were as decisive, also when i told a City fan that the average Chelsea fan worship's their board he spat his tea out and uncontrollably laughed for 5 minutes.

Funny because City fans are often slating their board citing our's as an example of how it should be done, guess it's a grass is greener mentality.

He's to awkward on the ball and that usually never improves much. Improvement usually comes tactically, technical ability is something you either have or don't.

Because it is done. Luis and Costa weren't announced until mid July but it was as obvious as night follows day it was happening, its the exact same with Baka, Rudiger and Lukaku.

Wasn't the problem's in 15/16 more down to Jose mentally knackering the player's? I'm sure the light pre season (which i think was more down to relaxed training, which won't be an issue under Conte) didn't help but any physical rustiness would have been gone by September and we still performed like dog until Christmas.

Zouma will never improve his ball playing, certainly not for the demands of this system anyway.

Then hopefully he retires or takes another Championship project. He can't cope with PL footy anymore which was brutally exposed the last two season's (his decline post 2015 title has been every bit as steep as Iva's).

If City are such genius negotiators like you are implying, why aren't Mendy or Walker there yet? Or United, why are they having a mare with the attacking targets? Why can't PSG get PEA done?

Bit off topic but if he made similar noises to Eden circa 2012 and decided he wants to come here we should be all over it whatever the price. I would happily see us take a short term hit (ie abandon signing's in positions we need them) to fund him aswell.

Pogba will end up being worth the price in relitive terms, he's certainly one of the best midfielder's around and when the obsession over his price tag stops he will be reconised as such. Lukaku im truly not convinced ever will be, his goals no doubt he will score, but aside from that i can't see how he fits in. Costa fit's us outside his goals because he's tenacious, presses well and is incredibility smart tactically with his off the ball movement. Even when he has his games were he can barely control the ball properly he gives us that. Lukaku falls short on those tactical level's compared to Costa and i fear our shape and team balance could be heavily affected by the fact Romelu is pretty lazy and hasn't got great movement.
