  1. Why I fucking hate l'Equipe: Translate "le parfait inconnu" by the perfect stranger One of the best right backs in the league and well known since 2009 in Europe, this bunch of cunts can't say anithing less stupid than that
  2. Mata, just leave it to Torres now... And it's missed for the second time in a row, Mata's really a poor penalty taker...
  3. I think he's having a great game tonight, he wins challenges and covers well, he brings the power and the tactical guarantee we really lacked under AVB I wasn't especially for AVB's sacking but one of the reasons I think the decision was right was his misuse of Mikel since the preseason. When he wanted to change the whole play of the team and also the player who allowed a certain balance tactically to cover many others. It was a mistake in my opinion. But right to the pre-season I though that Villas Boas could achieve to learn how to press and close spacces in transition phasis so I wasn't worried about Mikel's role. But as the season went on it really became a point to explain to me, especially when we were that awful to defend counter attacks and as we saw, to be honest, no evolution in that domain. One of the reasons why the midfield was often average under AVB, players of the likes of Meireles or Ramires really lacked lucididity forward because they felt they had to defend as well, by example closing and covering the space in front of the back four and trying to tackle to get the ball. And Romeu was also useless behind the Ramires-Meireles pair A reason to be happy about AVB's use of Lampard (It was OK in my opinion). Seeing Lampard weeks after weeks in a role where he would have to defend (due to Mikel's absence) would have produced an insane amount of shit which would really have annoyed me.
  4. Maybe you don't take care of the mentality and the conditions WBA and Birmingham were before playing Chelsea... Can it have a rapport with the fact WBA has find his full potential and scores goals for fun, trashing a Martin O'Neill side 4-0 (MO'N is a twat but a defensive minded twat) just after one of the biggest wins in the derby ? I don't know how Birmingham are this season, are they one of the best teams in England in terms of dynamic and organisation ? With a manager who deserves the Manager of the Year award ? Maybe a team who plays well with a genuine motivation for 90mn especially at the end of their games ? Maybe the stadium is a though place to go ?... No it really can't be the case for Birmingham It's similar to the AC Milan side who probably booze, celebrate and think they had already won the tie. Yes, Chelsea is shit but despite that fact the team is having a pretty decent game tonight.
  5. Sloth because you're liking my post, just to precise I'm sarcastic
  6. I really wish we hadn't fired Mikel yet... No really this player is totally as useless as he's also crap defensively.
  7. Here's the free wordpress I run with some friends: http://mypremierleague.wordpress.com/ Tumblr is interesting when you start putting images... And to be perfectly honest I must admit I nerver read posts on tumblr, I just look at the pictures...
  8. I think you're harsh, who could imagine the crazy tackler who got sent off everytime against Manure could become one of the best young DM in Europe ? One of the main problems of Chelsea this term is that we hadn't any holdong midfielder so then Meireles and Ramires had to complete a far wider role than the seasons before when Mikel was covering and winning aerial challenges, tackled with success... This season we saw clearly in pre-season that AVB wanted to change his play and asked him to get forward more often. I think it was the main mistake of AVB during his spell. He wanted to change all, and also the piece who allowed players around to have more freedon on the pitch. He got injured and had personnal issues so it wasn't an easy season. But to be honest I find the wankfest on Romeu even more insane than the bashing of Mikel. Some were over the moon when they saw Romeu stayed in front of the defense when full backs got in front. I read things I find inaproporiate, by example congratulating Romeu for doing things Mikel does far better for 3 seasons now... Coping with pressing: Mikel can, Romeu can't Winning aerial challenges: Mikel can, Romeu can't Being solid instead of wanting to play as in La Liga to intercept every tramsission: Mikel can, Romeu can't Keeping the ball under pressure among the ones who does it the best in Europe: Mikel can, Romeu can't Guarantee a proper build up play instead of trying to create from the deep: Mikel can, Romeu can't To add my contribution to the subject because it's what matters, considering Tioté's form last season I'm disappointed this season. His role is also not the same, he makes more mistakes and loses the ball more often Last season I was impressed by his tackling abilities and his passing, his crosses, his runs forward. To be honest sometimes I had the feeling to see the great Essien playing...
  9. I really hate him but he has a great season and he improves year after year at Fulham... He's on 8 goals for his last 9 Fulham games, he creates chances for fun... I read this about him: http://www.whoscored...-A-One-Man-Team I completely agree, I became a huge fan last season. Bolton's playing style and results made me starting to watch their games, I watched almost half of all their matches. It confirmed my opinion on Cahill by the way during this spell I was really impressed by how complete he was and how central he was in Bolton's play. Muamba had a decent season, but Holden's one was magnificent. It's not a surprise that Bolton struggle exactly since they lost Holden, it's not a surprise too if they lost so heavily versus Stoke in FA Cup within a fortnight after Holden's injury. Since Evans injured him, Bolton struggle to have a dense midfield which can also create and add movement in the play. This season, Coyle plays Muamba with two other players : Reo-Coker and Mark Davies (in CAM). It really looks like if Coyle needs two players to do what the lone Holden could: tackling (NR-C) and create (Davies). Bolton played a very interesting pass & move game for the last months of the 2010 year, Holden was very good because he could tackle and distribute in the same time that he was mobile. He covered an enormous surface, leaving his position to ask the ball very deep (from Cahill most of the time when our current overrated number 24 gave him the ball instead kicking it as randomly as he keeps doing even now) and providing solutions in intervals in the midfield ; his runs forward to support wing players or overcrowding in the last 30m were also very interesting and reasoned . His passing game was complete, calm, accurate ; variety and relevance in passing choices. He could also cross or shoot from distance, taking set pieces. Gifted on the ball, really pleasant to watch. Fair play, I never saw him kicking an opponent or having words with a referee. He's the versatility at his best, really can afford every role in midfield I decided to read some stuff about him and he seems to be a genuine nice lad who didn't had luck in his early career (his first spell at Sunderland ended before it started, he lost his father...). I follow him on twitter and on facebook (we can add him as a friend, puts videos and pics from his rehabilitation) His injury and the even more difficult decision to have a second surgery in September deleted his hopes to play this term. But he's a very good player. To be honest when we think we were looking for a versatile midfielder, a player for the turnover during the summer and that we ended with Meireles*, I really think that if he wasn't injured we could have a chance to get him. But both Meireles and Holden are very pleasant players to watch, but for me Holden is even more complete and versatile *Meireles is not well used this season, he's a false versatile player so he plays different roles he could have in smaller clubs or in SuperLiga (Porto fans said to me that he used to play in front of the back 4 in Portugal, this position is really far more important in England and requires tackling and impacting abilities Raul clearly doesn't have). I don't want to scapegoat him because he can do good things but not the "Lampard register" Villas Boas wanted him to take
  10. A read a lot of people who think he's not suited for English Football and that he'd rather go to Liga or Série A. I'm of those who think he's made for English Football, all in his playing style makes me think he can only succeed there. Almost 4 years that I'm convinced of it and how his career goes only confirms this feeling lol
  11. As the season goes on, I'm really even more disappointed that we let him go as I was already during the summer... Keeping him would have allow to put Mata in a central position sooner than now. And for me Malouda has a future as a left central midfielder, we should have kept both but there wasn't enough spots in the 25 man list.
  12. His main problem is his playing style, he dives and keeps the ball (also known as the Nasri Syndroma) too often. Otherwise when he decides not to bitch and to play simple with movement as against Germany on wednesday he's a good player. He has also not a bad amount of assists this season, I think he's among the best in Europe Sorry mate but your belief is wrong, I'm from Tours (his former club) and the only thing I can say to you is that he's not an opportunist. He's on his 4th consecutive very good season with a linear progression. Grenoble did not kept him, he was loaned to Istres where he scored 14 goals in 2007/2008. Tours was promoted in 2nd division and signed him in the summer. Giroud wasn't the main asset in 2008/2009 in a team which finished 5th (and missed the second promotion back to back...). He scored 12 goals He was the main asset the season after in an average team (which lost Koscielny, Diarra, Ca, Bong, Atik) and he scored 20 goals, often on his own (Ligue 2 top scorer). He signed to Montpellier in the winter but stayed on loan at Tours On his first season in top flight he scored 12 goals whereas Montpellier was an outsider before ending the season 14th On his second season he has scored 16 goals so far with 8 assists and Montpellier is a title contender. He became full international and scored his first goal on his 2nd selection, 1st time in starting XI I think you're wrong too, there's nothing to do with those 2 ones. First of all, Gignac has one only good season for him: 2008/2009 when he scored 24 times Here's the typology of his goals: 23 right foot, 1 left foot. 24 in the penalty box. Toulouse only played for him, he had Etienne Didot who really deserves all the credit for the success because it's him who gave that much assists to Grognac. Exactly the same with Bafé Gomis who was feeded by Pascal Feindouno in 2008. Here's the typology of Giroud goals this term (it's similar the seasons before, but I havent the precise figures). 16 goals: 7 first goals (best tally) 14 in second half, average a goal every 2 hours and not any goalless streak. 12 goals inside the penalty box, 8 in the six yard box 4 goals outside the penalty box 8 goals with his favorite left foot, 4 with his right foot, 1 with the head 8 different assist providers (contrary to Gameiro with Amalfitano, Gomis/Feindouno and Gignac with Didot) Gignac was already known in France, he was already scouted for France when at Lorient. He's stupid with a poor lifestyle (he's always injured, lunches in fast foods and stay on playstation all day round), he promised to sign with Lille but he eventually signed for Toulouse. He's a genuine opportunist, signed fot his boyhood club of Marseille and really does nothing to improve his case. He's a poor footballer, slow, no left foot, no motivation, no goalscoring spirit, no intelligence of play... Giroud is a really smart guy, he's a playboy but beside that he made wise career choices and has the head on his shoulders in press conference. He said not long ago that he didn't want to sign for Paris if it was to warm the bench. I didn't but some friends of mine did chat with him after a training session and said to me he's a nice guy (as Koscielny). Gignac is allowed to have said to a father of 3 in Marseille that he'd kick his ass after the guy said to him that he didn't respect a driving obligation with his 4x4 Giroud could have signed for Middlesbrough or Celtic Glasgow after good performances in Ligue 2 in 2010, as could have done Koscielny with Nantes in January 2009. Both didn't and chose Montpellier and Lorient I don't think Giroud'd be likely to sign for Chelsea to be honest, there will be rumours especially because he'll be going to the Euros for France. But he won't chose a club where he'd warm the bench as Chamakh does. I think he'll sign for Spurs But he's really a complete striker, has good finishing, good technique, his controls are terrific. He was compared to Ibrahimovic by Max Marty (the guy who bring him to Tours and who already did know him before). He wins everything in the air, he keeps the ball very well. He knows when to shoot and when to pass, he has a good mentality and a huge motivation due to the difficult start of his career. Even when he misses something (or everything, but's it's rare lol) at the start of the game, he stays an even bigger threat for the rest of the game.
  13. My transfer wish list would have been composed of Steven Fletcher and Kevin de Bruyne. Maybe Jarvis too, I'm such a big fan of Wolves' four aces Johnson, Jarvis, Doyle and Fletcher lol Underrated players with genuine quality in my opinion, I won't think it'd be a bad idea to start looking to the talents in Premier League because there really are some who coule be worth to look at them. Not the massively mediated overrated ones but the ones worth it
  14. Great talent, but I want to see him a bit longer at Birmingham. Chamberlain has the advantage Rooney or Barkley had at their débuts, they were physically ready to play at high level, strong enough. I don't think Redmond is already ready to this, let's wait one or two years. If he's really good enough to play in a big club (in terms of level, or mentality, look at Walcott who is terribly weak mentally) he'll make a big move, otherwise he'll end up at Liverpool or elsewhere He's a twitter addict otherwise lol. I've seen him play several times, in FA Cup last season and sometimes in Championship or Europa League this season, he catches attention Roberto Martinez uses him spreadfully, he's increasing confidence for 2 years. This guy is really worth to look at him. He has a genuine pure talent, and a huge room for improvement. Plus he's linked with big clubs for 4 years and when he had to leave Palace he chose the best choice for his career, where he'd have the biggest playing time without pression. He has to gain consistence during a game though, I don't think it's impossible to achieve. He's one of many who were regarded as potential fantastic players who is on his way to comfirm his potential : the talent, the mentality and the good carrer choices are gathered for Moses
  15. I really wonder what the announcement of a deadline day TV coverage is about... Is Chelsea likely to sign a player, or will it be just pundits dialogue about other transfers in England ?
  16. Porto allegedly wanted to sign Lukaku as Falcao's replacement after he moved to Atletico ; whereas Villas Boas planned to sign Lukaku at Chelsea one summer later. Because he left Porto in bad terms (even if Porto does never takes players on loan, he didn't want to speak again to his former club) and didn't wan't the player to sign elsewhere, that's why he signed him hastily. And it's what explains why Lukaku wasn't on the Champions League squad, when Villas Boas arrived at Chelsea he didn't have Lukaku in his 2011/2012 plans
  17. But both were wanted at Porto by Villas Boas too
  18. Villas Boas is making fun of medias, he wanted De Bruyne at Porto and was impressed when Porto faced Genk in Champions League qualification rounds. I must admit I don't really understand the utility of that kind of comment, especially because De Bruyne is the most interesting player we could have: great mentality, versatile, can play on both wings and behind a striker, has a great passing into space ability and can shoot from distance... He's similar to Hoilett, except in the mentality
  19. http://www.rtbf.be/s...genk?id=7474993 De Bruyne seemingly does not know anything about any transfer, he said that Chelsea didn't phone him and even if he signs for Chelsea he'll stay until the end of the season. He guarantees that it's not his last game for Genk. The articles reads that Genk's president Dirk Degraen went to London 2 times this week, and that the contract would be 5 and a half years, De Bruyne expected to stay for 6 months in Belgium
  20. I could, but I like to write long article (though I really have to synthetize lol) but my english style is not yet fluent, I don't want to inflict you 3.000 words in a 13 years old english student style
  21. Thanks god, I'm not the only one spotting that. It's like I say in my article, Torres was used to bve given the ball into space, even if we dont evoke the situation when the "support player" plays backwards, the amount of times when he starts a run behind defenders and he is given the ball behind him because the Chelsea players are used to put the ball ON Drogba The points in the first post are a translation of the main points of the article lol Messages on the topic are answers to the thread title, it wasn't what I expected
  22. I just wrote an article about Torres. And saddly it's in French, so you can look at the images or try google traduction I tried to explain things from the start: Poor World Cup because of the lack of rythm after his knee injury and because of fatigue due to 6th summer out of 10 when he played an International tournament, his 6th consecutive season when he played more than 45 games. A come back at Liverpool when Hodgson tried to obtain recruits without funds and in a bad climate. The bad start of the season, and the lack of other solutions since Keane left just after he signed. The influence of Arnesen's selfish decision to save his own youth policy in getting out senior players replaced by inexperimented youth. Lack of bench, rotation and poor results ; Chelsea enters into the market to complete his squad in defense and attack. Why Torres ? Because he has a name and can provide a massive money income as Chelsea want to do like Manure on Asian and American markets, whereas Stamford Bridge's capacity cannot match Chelsea financial requirements The importance of the energy and form in Torres' play because his play was based on his pace rather than on the intrinsic quality of his controls. The huge amount of games played made of him a "static" striker who did not left his position and only scored goals The difference between the paper and Chelsea as one of the most difficult team to handle in Europe, and the first half of the season where Lampard was injured, Drogba sick and other players tired. The tactical failing of Chelsea (flanks blocked wherheas full backs are too high, CBs are covering and Mikel alone and highly pressed) The difference between Liverpool's game plan where he was alone up front and when the team played vertically into space and Chelsea's one where we played a direct style "on the man" and where Drogba magnetize the balls. The fact he still keeps asking the ball into space whereas he asks it in the space His personal situation, he struggled to find a flat/home, lived in a hotel. The fact that his amount of goals scored is low but coherent because of the context in which he came in. HIs arrival allowing the switch from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 and the good results coming The vairiety of the strikers combinations upfront allowed Anelka or Benayoun to play with Torres and they were the 2 who could guive him service and support he was used to Villas Boas' will for Chelsea to play in a different way, quick and offensive, high team... but the transition phasis because of the importance of the spine and key players (Terry, Cole, Lampard, Drogba). Torres' high motication, good performances but lack of movement and support The bad results making Villas Boas switching to a more used style of play, based on Drogba as a target by example. Lampard, Mikel, Anelka... suffering at this moment The new aspects in Torres' play, his abiltiy to play back to goal, and his new ability to give assists. He gave 5 assists in 182 games at Loserpool, 9 in 49 games at Chelsea. His eye for pass we saw during the last weeks Here's the link http://mypremierleag...torres-chelsea/
  23. I think he's inconsistent in a game, not especially that he's awful on the whole 90 minutes. He misses crosses, but except Drogba and Malouda, who is able to cross well in the team ? (Meireles used to do so at Liverpool, he has forgiven the way to bend it properly at Scumpool). Ashley Cole is an awful crosser, one cross out of ten is on the chest and every other is low and not exploitable. Bosingwa can be nonchalant at times, it's the why we can reproach him with, on his elastic marking on set pieces. But keep on mind he's not an as good athlete as many other players in the team, especially since his injury. I would say he's decent with some lows and highs during a game Plus, we know what are the requirements to play there, when modern full backs approaches 30 years old they start to decline. There's no decent full back on the market, we can wait Hutchinson to come through or put some money on Nathaniel Clyne in 1 or 2 years. As often it's the full or emtpy glass debate, I know the contexts are totally opposed but it reminds me the stick Ramires was given because of missed passes whereas he was decent or good in others domains during his first months. People focalize themselves on visible things, what they see at the moment. Though we know Bosingwa's limits, his injury, the lack of solutions on the market... People seems to forget the requirements to play at Chelsea, we can't put a complete stranger, even McEachran or Bertrand don't play so how in the world could Hutchinson or Billy Clifford play at RB because they would seem better than Bosingwa ? We shouldn't bash him like that but it's my point of view I've forgotten the most important point, Bosingwa also struggles because he's exposed. Sturridge is neither willingly to help defending (just tracking an opponent and coming back to his own half is not defending. Defending is Antonio Valencia or Malouda) neither a genuine right winger. So of course Bosingwa faces 2 players, the winger and the full back...
  24. I just don't want Luiz and Cahill playing alongside each other because they both base their defensive play on the anticipation, I think their covering ability is poor. Otherwise I think the best back four possible would be Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry and Cole. Ivanovic is balanced and has dramaticaly improved when he goes forward. I put Luiz ahead of Cahill because Luiz has been playing pretty well for the last weeks, mainly because he takes less risks in his interventions, he does not challenge too high on the pitch like he used to do in the past. He has also a far better distribution than Cahill, I really wonder if Luiz has the best long play in the team after Terry... I do agree with people who thinks Cole needs a rest, especially because I'm a huge Bertrand fan (and when we see that not that much Chelsea loanees performs well on loan eventually, even if the contexts are always different). But if Villas Boas did not make a move so far, it's because Cole provides such a high guaranty in many domains. Of course he's not the greatest crosser out of there, he sometimes forgets himself more than before defensively... but he keeps being a fantastic athlete, his passing accuracy is one of the best in Europe and he brings real quality because he's experienced and accurate ; not many passing choices are really like giving the ball away. Plus, he's really part of the team's play, in the build up and offensively, it's a bit like Ramires, sometimes his importance is underlined when he's not playing. The team unconsciously relies on Cole in my opinion. We noticed that Bertrand does too, but a left back providing a run forward allows more space to wingers to cut inside. These runs have to be made like if they are going to get the ball whereas they won't always reveive it. And Cole can do that during all 90mn week after weeks, look at the Wolves game, the run and the accuracy of the pass to Lampard is quite exceptional after 90mn. Left back is a position where the players looks older the quickest, of course Cole shows signs of lowerings but what he can provides stays far above the large majority of other left backs. Because it's also the subject here, I would like to evoke Bosingwa. I'm not a fan of the mentality, but I keep thinking the stick he's being given is sometimes harsh. Since his injury (and even before I think) he has strugled to play a whole game on the same intensity, because he has a high depense of energy, and because he's not an as good athlete as many other players in the team. Plus he's become even more irregular than in the past, on a run of games and in a whole game. But we should not forget that he keeps being very exposed due to the presence of Sturridge in front of him, Sturridge is not Valencia or the past Kuyt, he has not the same volume of play and the willing to really help to defend in transition phasis. Like after his come back from injury, Bosingwa lacks support in defense because he often faces 2 players. With Ramires in front of him like the second part of last season, we often saw that defensively he was more solid and longer in the game Some fresh blood would be pleasant there, but Bosingwa keeps providing a kind of security that a youngster won't especially. As often it's the half empty or full glass debate. Anyway I don't think that Bosingwa is absolute shit and by far the worst player this season
