They'll play a fairly narrow diamond, I guess. Along the lines of Cambiasso; Zanetti, Muntari; Sneijder. Only real winger as such they have is Quaresma. So defensively, we should be okay in the full back positions. And, Nani skinned Ivanovic all day (well, first half) long at the Community Shield, so I wouldn't say that Jim.
I was gutted, of course. I love this club, as you know Alex. But theres far more important things in life. Some people need to remember that. The whole 'I haven't watched highlights' or 'I can't watch the penalty again' lines are just tosh in my opinion, along with the likes of 'Chelsea means everything to me'.
I don't buy the whole 'I still can't watch JTs penalty' tripe. It's football for christ sake. Grow up. The thing that annoys me more about that season, is the way we through our chance of the title. The draw at home to Wigan, in particular. We'd have been in pole position had we won that.
I don't think there is much middle ground with adidas at the moment. They're either great, or absolute horse shit. Unfortunately, we've only had two that are great, and the templates doing the rounds for 10/11 arn't much kop in my opinion.
They want host cities all over the country, not just in London, and there are far bigger grounds in London than ours. Surprised there is more than two in London to be honest.
Name: Yuri Zhirkov Position: Midfielder Number: 18 Joined From: CSKA Moskva Fee: £18 million Signed by: Carlo Ancelotti Age: 25 Though Chelsea Football Club did not spend £80 million on a winger like Real Madrid did earlier in July 2009, there is still much excitement surrounding the signing of Russian winger Yuri Zhirkov. Zhirkov, at the age of just 25, is a natural-born winner. Along with winning the 2005 UEFA Cup, the Russian has won the 2005 and 2006 Russian Premier League titles, the Russian Cup in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009, along with four Russian Super Cups; most recently in March 2009 with a 2-1 win over champions Rubin Kazan - Zhirkov was the man of the match. Perhaps not a household name in the same style as Ronaldo or Kaka, Zhirkov is a talented young player with a bright future ahead of him. Nevertheless, the Russian was named his country's player of the year, ahead of Andrei Arshavin of Arsenal, which is testament to the ability he has already demonstrated at both CSKA and under Guus Hiddink at international level. It was in fact former Blues boss Hiddink who recommended the player join the club, and the transfer was agreed between both clubs on July 7, before making the switch a done deal a couple of days later. Impressive during training, Zhirkov has been said to be "working his socks off" to impress new manager Carlo Ancelotti according to Chelsea TV's Ben Andrews, following the transfer that makes him the most expensive Russian player of all time. Yuri Zhirkov is also a player for the big occassion, having netted the winner in the 2005 Rusian Cup final against FC Khimki and also in the UEFA Cup final during the same season. An experience Russian international, he impressed during Russia's UEFA Euro 2008 run to the semi finals as his country's left-back. Zhirkov will offer cover to Ashley Cole in that particular role, whilst also competing with Florent Malouda for a starting position out wide.
The only difference with the Robben/Duff combination is that they were both capable of playing on the right and left. Can't remember ever seeing Malouda there and don't think Zhirkov will play there either.
Inevitably one or both of them will be tried and tested on the right though.
Blues News said last night that it was still undecided if he'll go to the States with the rest of the team.
So don't expect to see him start the season. Maybe end of Aug/beginning of Sept for Joe.
Do they show much of the Man City reserve and youth team games out in Holland then?
15 goals? You've got to be joking. Will be lucky to get 5 starts.
Cant say i'm too pleased with the new away kit. Could be worse though. Shant be buying. Think it would have looked better in the template of the home kit.
New training range is also available, here: http://www.chelseamegastore.com/stores/che...px?selector=225
Few nice bits there.
In the very little time he has got on, he's hardly got a kick, let alone a chance. If your considering 'facts', lets also remember that he wasn't selected for the Under 19 World Cup a couple of years ago. If he had the potential to be the 'next Crespo', I'm pretty sure he would have been.
I'm not saying he's going to be a flop, I just think your comment is way OTT, as you have a tendency to do so.
You do talk some rubbish BL. He's shown NOTHING to be even mentioned in the same breathe as these two. What makes you think he'll be as good as two of the leading strikers in world football over the last 10 years? 'Cos he's tall and can run fast?
