  11. Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero has played down speculation linking him with a January transfer window switch to Chelsea. The 21-year-old is reportedly wanted by Carlo Ancelotti and the Blues were said to be eyeing up a move for the Argentina international. But Aguero - who came off the bench to bag a brace against Chelsea in a UEFA Champions League Group D clash earlier this season - has rubbished reports of a move and reaffirmed his commitment to the Spanish club. He told Atletico's official website: "I have always made my commitment to Atletico clear and the whole world knows it.
  12. ’ Chelsea say the matter is a ‘non-issue’ because they have written permission from Ghana’s FA to use Essien. There are doubts, however, about the value of that letter: Muntari’s club, Inter, also received a communication from Ghana’s FA, but were told by the Italian federation that it made no difference and Muntari was left out of the Inter squad to face Bologna. Fred Pappoe, the Ghana association’s vice-president, told The Sunday Times he was unaware any permission had been granted.
  13. From the Mirror 30-11-09 Joe Cole has baulked at opening new contract talks with Chelsea. The Mirror says Chelsea and England star Cole, 28, is out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer when his current £80,000-a-week terms expire. And new Blues chief executive Ron Gourlay has made keeping Cole one of his top priorities. But Cole's representatives have no plans to open formal negotiationsuntil the midfielder starts producing imperious displays again. He is desperate to prove his worth to new manager Carlo Ancelotti. Cole then hopes to join John Terry, Didier Drogba, Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole by penning a four-year deal worth over six-figures a week.
