Are those the guys on shrooms that were discussed here before? There's clearly a circlejerk around Potter that sees only what it wants to see
-
Had we got relegated, I can totally see some people claiming we were destined for Championship even before TT sack, so Potter is fine. And then the same people will bash our players for lacking mentality 🤫 I don't think the hot chair was great concept, but GP is not the man to build upon. His appointment was a mistake from the very beginning that should be fixed ASAP. People bash our squad, but if we lose two years and end up with 25 Brighton level players, empty pocket and blocked FFP and THEN start to think maybe we need a manager after all it's all cool?
-
So, we were cynically used by another's player agent?
-
The celebrity physio firm stuff stinks and is not scrutinized enough. Also, just after takeover it was announced the "best American staff experienced in sports will join". Is it those guys? Anyway, yesterday we couldn't place a precise pass, it's not something PL players will forget how to do after not dribbling with cones for 3 months. They are just unable to anticipate what their collegues will do, despite fielding same players all the time. So we lack precise tactical Instructions or knowledge of them.

If you think this is a reason to brag about, up to You mate. I understand you like Potter and will deny him being incompetent deer in headlights for dear life, that your right. The audacity to call any honoured manager's football "shitty" while we have Potter and probably we wouldn't do worse against Fulham and Forrest if players were just told to freestyle does it for me.
-
If we are about to ignore all the arguments and play with convenient absurd, fine - Given our current situation, I'm fine with this guy, he won't do worse:
-
I do not care for results as much as I do care for Potter's credibility and personality or rather lack of them. Rebuild done by serial winner or at least elite-tier guy is fine, we know what we can expect and we know what manager is capable (or what potential he has). And what kind of success do we expect from Potter? To even maintain mediocre level of success that Chelsea regularly achieves in last 20 years, Potter would have to already go way beyond everything he already "achieved". Is he even capable of winning silverware in elite football at all? I'm not sure, to put it mildly. He could do well as part of coaching staff or assistant with his supposed talents no doubt, but he is way out of his depth here. Not even want to go about the main arguments for his appointment seem to be a) his nationality, what is ridiculous for me in XXI century and b) ability to make Brighton to play Brighton level (apparently some people like to think he achieved Leicester's winning season level of success, well, nope). Among all the excuses for him there's that "his players" and transfer window stuff - well, it's fine when a manager has his favorite FIFA squad in team and everything works in his favor, but that rarely happens in real life. Manager also has to do good with what he has available. If a manager always has some excuse in his way to perform on at least a decent level then he's just no manager at all. Remember Sarri? He didn't even care much about who comes, who leaves and who is injured. It's not the matter we are losing, because in football you lose. Fact is we are playing horribly and the manger has no clue what to do with this and looks like a spectator, with occasional ridiculous or pathetic thought to share during the press conference. All players are in decline, new players are in decline, our tactics is bland and doesn't seem to utilize our strengths in any innovative way, morale is terrible. For Fans to tolerate this for next 6 months because poor Potter doesn't have the players he like (and people seem to be in denial to understand he may actually never get them) is just beyond absurd for me. Players not performing? Kick them in arse, motivate them, send them to U21, coax or criticize, find tactic that works for them or develop like TT did with Rudi. That's managers main job for god's sake! Yet I feel all this was said here for millions of times already.
-
I do understand discussions can get heated late at night, but let's say it this way: I often see, esp. on this board, people tend to place equal sign between acceptance of team rebuild (and noticing the urgent need for this) and acceptance of Potter in particular and/or ridiculous Owner's moves in terms of transfers, staffing and organization. While this looks like convenient argument to make, I think it's big mistake or misunderstanding. Those things doesn't necessarily come in packet.
-
Most sane people could see sacking TT at the time was huge mistake as there is no quality replacement in sight. Potter is as fit for this job as any other guy on the street, so in this case I have no problem with merry go around of managers who are at least competent and can deliver results adequate to the level of the team they are managing. We need sporting director to build vision, philosophy and squad, not desperately holding to sub par manager for this.
-
Unlucky, as he was late af. I've seen some brutal tackles, however this one was one of the slowest, uninspired and pointless I've seen in a long time and it's unlucky to get red in such a dumb situation.
-
Did he also pushed them to relegation zone? Surely he had a ton of injuries, bad transfers, ownership issues and Mercury retrograde on the way. Hardly any spectacular manager is available, if any, but GP is a lost cause. Poch, who I don't fancy, not winning the league is still miles ahead in terms of quality.
-
U say our today's squad is worse than Fulham? And Forest? I wouldn't. I had enough of "rebuilding" "changing direction" (towards the wrong end of the table I guess) and injuries excuses. At the moment, I'd not complain about Poch. I wouldn't even complain about our U21 staff or like whoever who had actually proven his ability to manage TOP team.
-
Positive surprise. Putting on good game, actually looking like a breath of fresh air, topping off with straight red… Introduced himself kool-aid style. In a stale and depressed team, entering and taking the door with you seems like a good thing. And was it really a straight red? He got late and unlucky.
-
I'd agree with anything except the Potter part - his arrival didn't cause even the usual bounce while and his presence is only making the things worse. The problems are real and persistent, but having zero confidence in man at the wheel is emphasizing them even more. If we are striving for leaders, the manager should be the first of them while Potter doesn't seem to have a personality for this. Also, we are constantly talking about stale group of players, but we actually did replace a large part of squad sice Conte… Azpi and Kante are actually most senior players we have, rest is sub 4 or 5 years here of what I recall. We need Mourinho-calibre of character to make this bunch a team or send them out into space. Also, we need very smart transfer business and it's not something that seems to be going on right now.
-
I'd have no problem with our terrible spell and "trusting the process", if only we had a manager that could be trusted in the first place. Why the hell Potter should be the man in charge of our crucial transfers for years? Why should we allow him to waste this season? And why are people so okay with that?
-
Enjoying this from time to time in recent times. Hilarious, but not super surprising. Looking at this folk, U sure, mate?
-
I think the problem is those, who are actually on proper level of professionalism are, bar Silva, just not good enough (anymore). This team is extremely easy to get their morale down super quick and I guess Potter didn't quite impress first few games, so there is that. However there is still something like play for the badge, and if not for the badge, just for the contract you are obligated by, but this dressing room had showed multiple times it's not their thing.
-
Perhaps, but certainly not for any of top 50 teams in the world. Out of his depth all the way. Also, I still have no idea what Potter is trying to impose here. Other managers I had zero doubts since their first game.
-
Absolutely true. But the last player I can reacall who really had fans in mind was like… Hazard? Not title contenders, but I still don't see us as Forest of Fulham level team.
-
I mean… Can't blame them. Our players should be rightfully bashed for not cooperating with elite managers, but you just cannot hire joke of rookie manager to manage elite team. It may work the other way, but this situation, wtf did TB expect to happen? I would down my tools myself.
-
Oh come on, this folk went beyond himself keeping us afloat. Can't believe anyone thought he is top-tier GK, I guess he may be going back towards his actual level, but can't shit on him for doing wonders when time came.
-
People still having audacity to look for excuses for Potter 😂
-
Yeah, it's thrice as difficult to manage, if you have no idea how to manage at all.
-
We seriously look like League Two side, no speed, no vision, no basic passing accuracy
-
Try watching this with Spanish commentary - folks sound so dramatic I'm ready to believe we are actually doing anything on the pitch.
