I know other clubs can control the leakage of information bit better, but do we have any views of anyone actually leaving? It's getting crowded AF and it may be a tactic to let the unwanted players know they won't play as there is 5 new players on their position, but if we are gonna wait until summer, it means garage sale prices as the clubs will be aware we are even more desperate, than when buying. Meanwhile Jorgi is being offered a new contract, Dave has no replacement, Puli is hardly going anywhere in his condition I guess, Bayern trolling us about CHO had shut up, Zyiech has last chance to capitalize on WC games (doubt Tottenham direction is very serious) and Auba is hardly going anywhere. So what's the plan?

It depends - City and PSG get the finger waved at them, Chelsea is getting relegated

Aren't you mixing some separate issues? I can actually imagine a lot of western people not knowing who and where from Abramovitch is, but still, it's bit different timeframe than Russian regime starting a war with borderline European country. But the ethical side of things it's not what I'm about - each to their own - I just find it hilariously delusional for people to think it's possible to conduct normal, multi-million dollar business with Russian entities right now because "footy is footy" and Russian players have nothing to do with it. For shit it's not. It's even funnier, given our owner is American. Even if they'd find some loophole, it would cause a massive backlash and shit storm all over the world. And I don't even mean media or normal people. Remember the UK gov crackdown on us due to Skripal thing? Since then they were looking to topple this club over. And we could have this x5, including the same crackdown on TB from American side.

Pretty much yes, it's a prime example of diplomatic pressure. I guess they may move to Indian, Belarusian or maybe Chinese league without much issue. Given how Russia works, that's not guaranteed. Plus football team is also part of economy that most of civilised world is trying to supress, not support. But it's all more of politics than football really.

Aren't this club transfers always a topic in media all over the world ever since Roman took over? Numbers click, even for non-sport people, so content farms have it easy. Plus a lot of UK pundits seem to be supporting/ex-players of United or Arsenal, so there you go. Don't see much difference with or without TB.
-
Yeah, I'll say it once again - people seem to not notice what is going on in the world around them. Not even going into ethics and sanctions, imagine the prominent US Citizen sending 15 millions of dollars to Russia now, just like that. Good luck. The player is of course victim here, but oh well. This is not happening and is utter shitshow if it somehow does.
-
I wouldn't too, but the problem with him is that even if you ignore his output, he seems to have lost a lot of his vision and technique on ball since Bayer/starting here and that's worrying
-
Made like 30 posts about Rudi being good only under TT when he was leaving, glad someone noticed it finally. If he stayed, people would be raging and crying he is common type Rudi under GP, just like they are raging with KK. Anyway, that would be very strange if Rice had gone to Arsenal. Would they really want to toss 100+ million for him, given there is obvious premium on him from WHU and Arsenal seem rather reasonable with cash?

I think we need two CMs, one more of Kante characteristic and one to replace Fabregas (oh wait). With efficient midfield, I think Felix, Sterling and Havertz (and Mudryk?) can produce and if we won't go strikerless, there's still DDA and Broja on Books (and Rom)(and Nkuku?). Our GK should also do decent enough with solid defense - I feel they lack consistency more than skill. Kepa actually improved a lot of aspects of his play, just not quite decision-making and what is up with Mendy we will see.

Does it wipe the plan of buying satellite club and investing in football group or he just have unlimited money or ability to source it via Clearlake?
-
Off course this guy is victim of his country rulers, no doubt and he himself is not a problem here - it would even be good to pull him away from there, transferring millions to Russia and Russian club is. But it's whole world's issue and it's not matter of sport - sanctions on one hand and still doing *some* business on other. Again, I guess it depends on particular countries and where they are on map and in history, but I'm quite sure in eastern Europe and USA (so probably more important to TB) this will be seen as a scandal. And given what USA does I have no problem imagining TB getting into hot water for this and he surely doesn't need it. I'm actually quite surprised no one here considers this perspective.
-
Yeeees, I mean, pr wise, no doubt he's a good player, but the outcry of doing business with Russian club will be massive, especially it's us and no other club. We will be bashed eternally. The players "running away" from their league got free pass, but I doubt this transfer will.
-
Still, it will go down terribly, especially given now we are getting headlines that our dough for Mudryk will partially go to support Ukraine military. I guess it much depends on your country's political stance, but I doubt any player is worth transferring money to Russia right now, especially after all that "morality" talk after we negotiated for Enzo, it just seems improper thing to do imho.
-
Pulisic? No player will take it lightly, even if they are injured and only have theoretical chance to return for final lol. Just imagine the press such player gets after being crossed out of CL. I guess this is the fast way to push someone out of the club
-
There's also probability that Tuchel had some idea what to do with him - he was known for making obscure/shitty players vital in his system. Now apparently everyone just expects players to play on their own, no questions asked
-
I know Twitter journos have to eat too, but I'd still let the new signings play few games here before they are displacing anyone from CL roster. Plus, we don't know if anyone is leaving this window or not, so…
-
😂 It was deffo worth it, so let's throw more cash there. This is worrying as hell. Wasn't the promised change of style of operation was, like, having Sporting Director in place, build a vision, buy the players for the vision and choose the manager for it, that can be replaced if needed, just like most serious clubs do? It's not the same thing as "Potter picking who he likes" as this is exactly the same thing we did under Roman, except with different calibre of manager. GP having say in transfers is totally different than building a team to Potter's liking and according to media, the latter is happening.
-
Law aside, I'm pretty sure that given the situation, American Chelsea owner, sending 100 mil euro to Russia goes down great with media and even normal people. It's not happening and it's not something that upsets me personally. Super credible, with Enzo and us selling Sterling of all the wingers. But hey, it clicks well!
-
Sure there is, the question remains how many of those players exist. Given the situation I think we can't afford another transfer flopping and although it's only media buzz, the shift from overpaying for doubtful wonderkids to apparently trying to scavenge middle of the table is not reassuring. I don't even care that much for new incomings to be exceptional on their own, just be clinical business and solid buys that can improve as a team and it still looks like search for immediate lifeline, just somewhere else.
-
Geez, just stop buying Brigthon (and similar) players, especially non-HG, buy Brighton if you want to have Brighton manager and Brighton players. This is mode of operation good for mid table, but not for top teams. How often City or Pool do this? Buying talents like Chuka is great, but those clubs will demand (rightly so) super overinflated money for their key players and it will go down as Zaha and Wan-Bissaka saga. Like buying 60 mil Alonso replacement, so far subpar to Alonso himself taught this club nothing.
-
Who You thinking about? We have nine in registered first squad currently, including Castillo. Don't we need 8 for CL? Don't know if Chuka is HG after 21, but still
-
Unfortunately Homegrown players, especially decent ones, have quite strong starting position and they know it. If we'd offload him and RLC, we're in pickle unless Bellingham and Rice are coming. Plus, he was good under Lampard and not Terrible under TT, so question is, what's the problem and how to fix it, if possible.
-
Incredible how often this word is used in Chelsea context, including GP himself. Soon it will be first Google suggestion for Chelsea instead of "transfers" and "money". Fun times. Absolutely zero harsh feelings for him personally, just deeply unflattered with what he is (not) doing as manager of club that I support and his appointment as such. Nothing wrong with that. Probably, yet given our recent years history with 1 goal leads even with decent morale and more first-choice squad and recent Kepa's form and defense spottiness and Palace pushing, this seems like turbo risky strategy paradoxically. Yeah, we could rely on counter, but all we did were some individual pushes all over the place, it didn't look like thought-out and trained tactical movement. Hope so, still I'd give a lot of credit for this to players feeling endangered by recent transfer policy and it's not a bad thing after all.
-
The "ending player power" statement that leaked few days ago. Law (?) also reported some names who were supposedly given last chance to prove themselves.
-
Nothing boosts morale as well as the owner, who doesn't care much for financial loss and is openly talking about selling key players apparently
