  1. Super cup, we did not go behind early - equal possession. At bridge even the first half and before the pool goal, we were playing great. I remember mount had scored just before the pool goal only to be cancelled out by VAR for offside. So it definitely was not a case of we just woke up after they scored. We shifted from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 within the game. When we were defending, we definitely made it a point to have 2 banks of 4. Its not inferiority complex, its basic common sense. We had alonso on one wing against salah, he needed cover from the wing. RJ was quite good defensively, but its not his best characteristic. And thats how you stop the opposition. By nullifying their threats. There is only so much pure defending, even the best of defenders can do. Its the setup which defines the pattern of play. And ours seemed to be quite spot on by FL.
  2. Well Liverpool had the possession just a shade above 50 too, so they were also on the counter? Infact if you average the possesion of the 3 games (55,48,50), we average more than them. We did have attacking intent. If not possession, then lets look at attempts, UEFA cup: Chelsea 21 Liverpool 20 Bridge: Chelsea 13 Pool 6 Anfield: Chelsea 10 pool 10 Thats a combined 44 shots vs 36 of Pool. With more possession. What are you basing your opinion on exactly? Because swapping CHO for mount would have meant that our FBs would have been left exposed. Mount made it a 4-4-2 with him covering RJ, something that CHO would not have been able to give us. Plus even I dont think CHO would have got more out of robertson to give him a start and expose the flanks. We nullified there biggest weapons (FBs) who had a record number of combined assists from FBs last year. We did far more on the other end that Liverpool did at our end, is not that the point in a big game. 1. Werner 1v1 2. Werner Shot. 3. Mount playing Kante in. I am sure someone can find a link to that. Mount probably should have taken the shot himself. 3 great positions vs 0 from Liverpool (one of the best attacking sides in the world right now). I would take it. Specially since all the hoopla that FL cant teach his team to "Defend". Now that he has done, we are still ridiculing him. This was not the 1st time Kai has played a false 9 or a RW. He played those positions around 20 games just last season. Again, the point was go 4-4-2 in defence, and counter with Kai and werner linking up. We did that a couple of times. Hoof ball was because of the pool press. Its not as easy as people would have you believe to beat the pool press. City have failed multiple time, barca got annhilated 4-0.
  3. You and I remember the UEFA super cup and both the league games against Liverpool very differently if you think that we played them on the counter. https://www.skysports.com/football/chelsea-vs-liverpool/408033 I dont think a team on the counter can possibly have more possession than the aggressor But we did against pool at bridge https://www.uefa.com/uefasupercup/match/2025638--liverpool-vs-chelsea/statistics/?iv=true 52% to 48% possession in super cup https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53412782 50 to 50 possession at anfield So exactly on what basis are you saying that we played on the counter? The difference between mount and willian is the ball carrying and the burst of pace. Mount is a brilliant player, but expecting him to do what willian has done is just wrong. Hell, Mount is not even a winger. WIllian's dribbling and burst of pace really set us apart on the counters. Mount was basically played as a 4th CM to give Werner the freedom. Also, werner played a good/great game, but Puli on the wing was different class on the wings. So the gulf in options is massive to what we had last season. AS for the last part, agree to disagree. What was Liverpool's threat? What exactly did they do or create in the first half other than the long ball which resulted in the red. It was a cagey half. Where we had the most of oppurtunities - werner 1v1 against fabinho (puli is scoring that btw), werner left footed shot just wide, mount plays Kante in, but he pulled it back (for whatever reason). It was a game plan which was working and working well, until another individual blunder(s) screwed us up.
  4. Does FL do it every game? What were our options up front on the wings if we wanted to go toe to toe with Pool. CHO? Tammy? Mount? Kai? Last year we played liverpool 4 games, and went toe to toe with them EVERY time. Played an attacking game. DId we have the attacking personnel to give the same output as salah, mane and firmino? You would have been the first one condoning FL had we gone all out attack and lost 2-5.
  5. If PSG take both Rudi and Baka off our hands, the club should throw in emerson as a thank you gesture.
  6. He was so good at the start of last season and then it was like snapped out of existence. Surprising how no journalist has asked FL about what exactly happened to Fik I hope he stays and get a chance to prove himself.
  7. If his team selections and tactics were poor last season, and he still got top 4, then Chelsea were one of the luckiest teams alive. I mean we struggled to get top4 with Eden, he got it without him and re-inforcements. Also, when people say things like "he can not be defended", that is pretty definitive in terms of where they and what they want to do with the manager. How lampard stubborn? Did not willy start our 2 most important games of the last season - wolves with top 4 on the line and fa cup final. How can we possibly say FL is stubborn with his selection for kepa when he has dropped him like a sack of potatoes when it actually mattered, are you kidding me? Or have we conviniently forgotten that. Kepa had to be started at the start of this one, to give him one last shot. Can he show something to be kept. You are talking about reality yet can't understand why we are persisting and hoping against hope for a record signing to come through, for a 72m signing to show something positive. This is not fifa where you can simply discard such an asset/liability, this is real life. 2 games will not decide our fate this season, but these 2 games have definitely decided kepa's fate. Everton got a new mid and he is actually PLAYING. Currently we are worse off from the last season, cause we have no playmaker. We are minus willian and pulisic. How is that an "excuse"? If with ziyech and puli we are still this poor in attack, then anyone and everyone will have a right to ask questions off him. But after 2 games and with pulisic, ziyech, Silva, chilwell and Mendy, and against the BEST team in the world. Lol. Just because it personally rubbed you the wrong way (lol), does not mean you have to discredit his achievements with things like he got his selection and tactics wrong or I cant see what he has done special. He got us top 4 with no Eden, he got us our best window in living memory with players like Werner and Kai. That is the REALITY.
  8. Oh my God, is not that what it means to be missing players. Is not that the point that FL did not have HALf his first team. Ziyech, puli, chilwell, Silva each of them will be the mainstay. As will Mendy, whether he has signed yet or not. Wow, so just because someone calls you out for your asenine opinion, you are seriously gonna pull this? Show me my last debate. Have not even posted here in a couple of weeks. The last time I had anything was with vesper which contained nothing of foul language or racist behaviours. You know what, go pull rank on somebody that Cares. Pathetic. Unfortunately for you, talkchelsea is not the be-all and end-all of 99% of everyone's life.
  9. I totally disagree. Dangerous attacks don't just mean a shot on goal or making a keeper work. For me is creating the chance to get that shot and trouble the goalie, the end objective is what you say, but for me, an attack can be termed dangerous without them We were 2 goals down, a man down, got a penalty and Tammy had a good chance which was a good stop by Allison. Don't think just being a goal down would have meant us changing the whole game plan. If anything, those 2 chances showed the plan was working and would have worked if we did not have a numerical disadvantage for a whole half
  10. The chances created were not dangerous? The Werner left footed shot just past Alison, the one where he was 1v1 against fabinho, but wanted to go inside rather than go out and shoot from the left, the one where mount played kante in only for kante to not shoot but pull back. You have got to be kidding if you say our counters were not dangerous. Even with the 1-0, and 11 men, based on the balance of play, we would have had a fair chance. Definitely not one that you could term as "nonsense"
  11. The point (like I stated in the previous post) was regarding chances created. Also like I asked, if hoof ball chances are as important and pivotal, then what made it "nonsensical"?
  12. So which one of pulisic, ziyech, Silva , chilwell, Mendy do you think won't be a part of our starting 11 this season. Please do enlighten me. I mean seriously, are you THAT stupid? What case? You think the manager is indefensible but can't even agree that he did not have HALF his starting 11 when I am bloody well naming those players. But please, continue cribbing childishly, do need a laugh. Don't get enough "Lols" in life, what with all the pandemic shit.
  13. Knowing our luck, we might get a muscle injury. I would go with the following - Mendy/willy Azpi tomori Silva Castillo Rlc jorginho Barkley Cho Giroud tammy
  14. Great. Then it proves my point. We created more chances than them. Simple as that. So what makes you think we could not have won the game in a 11v11, and what is so nonsensical about that?
  15. Did not I say the exact same thing? "gave Werner the freedom to create havoc"
  16. Ok. And what team did Liverpool play in that fa cup? I was anyways talking about the super Cup and PL games
  17. So that "hoof ball" to mane was a chance? But our chances were shit? Great for Klopp. Would love to see another 5-0 drubbing off him by city then.
  18. Did not we go the Giroud route thrice last season and lose each time? He wanted to attack on the counter and with speed. Given the way the first half minus Andreas' red panned out, do you think the plan was not working? CHO could have been played, but the way I saw it, with mount, we were in a 4-4-2 with mount-jorginho-kante-kova defending and created a very disciplined bank of 4. Which also gave Werner the freedom to create havoc. Kai did link up the play decently well. The only thing missing was the finish. Let's be honest, we SHOULD have been 1-0 up by 44th minute. FL tried something different from his learnings in the 4 meetings with pool last season. I think given that + the sheer quality of missing personnel, his game plan was working quite well.
  19. You don't need to be in control of the game to win. Tell me a Liverpool chance in the first half? Go ahead, I will wait. There were fucking none. 0. Understand? We were far more of a threat on the counter than they were. So there is nothing remote to "nonsense" here. Let Klopp play without salah (pulisic), mane (ziyech), vvd (Silva), alisson (Mendy), Robertson (chilwell), and see what happens to that team. Do they rally around their one remaining world class threat or do they trust the ox or shaqiri to play that way specially when playing city. So us being dependent on Werner in attack has a lot to do with the missing personnel in the current 11 at the moment.
  20. The manager can surely be defended if you have half a brain. Specially when he has almost half his starting 11 missing in pulisic, ziyech, Silva, chilwell and GK. Not rocket science. He can also be defended by citing man City last season as an example of a similar performance we put but got a win due to pulisic's quality. The manager would infact have been vindicated if Werner had scored those 2 goals in the 1st half. So well, the manager sure CAN be defended. It's your knee jerk and obsession with "lol" that can't. But don't let all of this get in the way of your usual cribbing and moaning.
  21. Exactly Some concerns are valid specially regarding the attacking ideas, but we have to take things into consideration. Half the starting 11 against pool will be replaced, HALF!!! Do people really expect us to be playing hoof ball with puli and ziyech? Also, we have gone toe to toe against liverpool 4 times last season. We gave them a fight in uefa cup, the game at bridge and anfield. But they came out on top. If we had played it that ways again, and such shorthanded, we were not going to be coming out of it with anything. Also, let's be honest here. Did not we win against city at bridge after restart in a similar defensive fashion. Difference was pulisic's speed and quality. Did not see people cribbing about the attack then. Why now? If Andreas and kepa did not have their moment of horror, we would have got a win, specially how threatening Werner had looked in the 1st half. Saying the manager is indefensible is such a stupid thing, I mean wtf.
  22. Awww. But you can't defend the manager right? Surprising you are able to defend yourself and your pathetic and knee jerky opinion.
  23. A typical 2020 knee jerk reaction would be to say that they can't defend the manager when he does not have both his main wingers, his 1st choice lB, 1st choice CB, and a half decent gk. Ask Klopp to play without Allison, Salah, mane, Robertson, vvd and see how good or bad they are "Lol" was an appropriate response to an asenine post . Pathetic.
  24. Are we really cribbing about today? What did people expect FL to do? Go gung ho without our 2 best wingers, no LB, a GK who can't stop a shot, catch a cross or pass the ball. FL got the tactics spot on. And it showed. Werner could have had a brace in the first half. We were solid defensively against one of the best attacking teams in the world. Anyone moaning today about FL needs to get his head checked and tested.
