I've closely followed Sturridge since he was around 16/17 and believe me, he definitely has the capabilities to be constantly dropping deep. Watch the game against Villa actually, even his goal you'll see he isn't the furthest forward player when he receives the ball. I actually think he's best as a second striker, behind a main striker because his link up play is and always has been good, but he has the potential to be a more complete striker as he matures. Sturridge is in the mould of those players and that will be more evident as he develops and matures. I personally think that after Rooney Wilshere and maybe Carrick he's probably the biggest English talent out there atm.
