20 year old forgotten Chelsea talent pops up in training – plan desperately needed for January https://Chelsea.news/2024/10/20-year-old-forgotten-Chelsea-talent-pops-up-in-training-plan-desperately-needed-for-january/ The way that the transfer window closes with leagues across Europe already begun means that there are plenty of players and stories who fall through the cracks. We’re all so busy thinking about the players who have come in and out at the death, and then the games and results that follow, that some of the lesser threads of the summer fall by the wayside. Moments like this, with a couple of weeks without Premier League action, are a good moment to take stock. A lot of the “bomb squad” and players who needed a loan found one late in the window, while others (like Cesare Casadei) have had an unexpected renaissance in the first team; but there were others who weren’t so lucky. Forgotten talents pop up in international break training One of those forgotten players is Alex Matos, who did well on loan last season at Huddersfield. Somehow we weren’t able to secure him either a permanent or loan move this summer, meaning 6 months of stagnation for the 20 year old. He’s been forced to return to U21 level, a massive step back after being a regular in the Championship last season. Without question he’s one of the biggest victims of a chaotic summer where so many resources were spent finding solutions to long term problems like Romelu Lukaku and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Matos is at least getting a chance to impress Enzo Maresca during this fortnight – photos from Chelsea’s 5th Stand App show him in training making up the numbers this week. Poor Alex is so far from the first team though, despite being the perfect profile as a midfielder to strengthen our squad. He’s just going to have to pray the sporting directors are working on something special for him in midweek. Chelsea star Moises Caicedo sets record straight on Enzo Fernandez partnership fears Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez remain Chelsea's first-choice midfield pairing but the duo's partnership has been subjected to continued scrutiny from both pundits and supporters https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/Chelsea-news-moises-caicedo-enzo-33877431 Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo insists his partnership with Enzo Fernandez is blossoming, despite suggestions they cannot play together. The £222million duo remain Enzo Maresca's first-choice midfield pairing but pundits and supporters have continually raised concerns that the two big-money signings do not complement one another's game due to their similar styles. Last December, former boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke openly about those claims and warned their on-pitch understanding will take some time. But Caicedo remains adamant they are working together, stating: “Enzo and I get along very well, we talk, you can see it on the pitch, we are getting along better, we are playing more games together.” “I am happy with how the season has started, working hard to continue doing well. Every game is better. I am adapting more and more to the club, with the new coach." Earlier this week, Alan Shearer claimed the arrivals of both Caicedo and Fernandez effectively forced Conor Gallagher out of the club following his transfer to Atletico Madrid. Shearer said: "The issue Gallagher had was when Chelsea started paying the vast amounts of money for people like Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez. Then it was always going to be difficult for a local lad to stay and play because, essentially, those players have to play to justify the transfer fee. "That leaves people like Gallagher with a decision to make because you’re not going to play regularly, they’re always going to be ahead of you. And they’ll always be on more money than you, so you have to say good luck to the guys that do choose to go abroad." Meanwhile, Caicedo - speaking while away on international duty with Ecuador - also claimed Cole Palmer can rival Erling Haaland for the Premier League golden boot this season. The prolific Manchester City phenomenon already has 10 goals to his name in just seven matches but Palmer is his closest competitor, alongside Bryan Mbeumo, with six. Caicedo said: "He smells goals. He helps a lot when he scores, when he opens games, he is very important for us. He helps us open games very early. He will be there fighting with Haaland.” Palmer, who has also registered five assists, recently bolstered his numbers with a stunning four-goal haul against Brighton. He has since been named the Premier League's Player of the Month after also winning England's Men's Player of the Year award.

In terms of the next England manager, these are the most prolific European Cup/Champions League-winning managers Pep would be the only multiple winner who is still active, still in his prime, and who would possibly take the job (as Mou is rinsed, Ancelotti is retiring after Real Madrid, and Zidane only would take the French NT job I wager, OR perhaps go back to Real Madrid after King Carlo retires) The only other managers still active who have even won the CL once are Thomas Tuchel (The only manager to reach the final in consecutive seasons with two clubs (Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and Chelsea in 2021). He is a good England candidate. Louis van Gaal pass Rafael Benítez pass Roberto Di Matteo pass (and has not managed in years) Luis Enrique pass Jürgen Klopp (likely would not take the job) Hansi Flick (but likely would not take the job) the only other ones still alive who have won the CL are all retired Giovanni Trapattoni Emerich Jenei Guus Hiddink Arrigo Sacchi Ljupko Petrović Fabio Capello Marcello Lippi Ottmar Hitzfeld Jupp Heynckes Alex Ferguson Vicente del Bosque Frank Rijkaard (only 62, but in December 2016, he announced he would no longer pursue a position as manager)

Milan Skriniar has confirmed that he's not happy with his current game time at PSG and there are concrete chances for his exit in January. Juventus are interested should PSG be open to a loan move. More clubs are also keen. Fabrizio Romano provides all the details on the Milan Skriniar story in his latest column. https://thedailybriefing.io/i/150081452/psg-star-not-happy-with-his-current-situation PSG star not happy with his current situation It’s still early stages in this story but Milan Skriniar is not happy with his current situation at PSG regarding game time as the defender has played in just two matches this season for the French champions. If nothing changes at PSG, he would be open to leaving the club in January, but it will depend on PSG. If the Ligue 1 champions open the doors to a loan deal, Juventus could be interested in the former Inter centre-back and as of right now, I’m not aware of bids from Premier League clubs. In my opinion, I don’t expect Skriniar to play much more at PSG as Luis Enrique has made his decision. This is one to watch in January.
