  1. That's on Matic. They were both yellow cards. He hurt his team. That linesman is a bastard for calling the Fabregas goal offside. That was so close. Advantage to attackers and all. Winning was already incredibly hard after trailing. Now I just don't see it happening. A draw would be miraculous. Season is a shambles.
  2. Guardiola is the most fascinating manager at top level for me. I watch the football his teams play, on and off the ball, and I get lost in all the details. A mad genius for me as he can definitely go overboard. But that's inevitable when you like to experiment and invent. Some people think his football is boring and that's fine. No one can please everyone.
  3. Either he's a dead man walking or he's the new Mikel and we'll still see him in the squad in 2022.
  4. It's stupid. No one is supposed to win the CL. It's the CL.
  5. True but he wasn't a starter until he was 18/19 I think. Correct me if I'm wrong. And others played very, very early as well. I doubt everyone that started off early dropped off significantly (physically) at the age of 28. Some players played 15 to 20 years of first team football. EDIT: I had to check. Wiki is admittedly a weak source but still. According to them, he's played 514 games at club level and 139 games for Spain at senior and youth level. I have to say, that's a lot.
  6. Every year there's a team (or even two) that does better than they're supposed to do so fair enough. But these are different circumstances. A win is so incredibly crucial today. And they seem to do better away, when they're the clear underdog and they have more space to exploit. I expect Chelsea to be quite cautious today. That should help.
  7. Wasn't Amelia rejected or let go by a third division team? Blackman must be horrible haha.
  8. Bar Payet, that's not even a good team. They're decent. Need to win this. Not winning matches has become too normal.
  9. Yeah, that does happen. But then again, the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic, Lahm and many others started off young as well. I guess it depends on the player.
  10. No one can tell me Mourinho wouldn't salivate at the thought of Santon, 6ft2, at RB, Juan Jesus, a 6ft1 CB, shifted to fullback and a midfield consisting of the likes of Medel, Guarin, Melo, Kondogbia and Perisic.
  11. I wonder what he means by heavy. He definitely isn't out of shape. That's not the problem. But maybe he means slow, especially in his footwork. That I would agree with. He aged quickly. He looks like an old man on the pitch.
  12. You watch this guy and you can immediately tell he's the real deal. I was sold the first time I saw him. I'd throw the money for the clause at Porto, make him a an offer he can't refuse (I hope the likes of Carvalho, Ferreira and Deco would put in a good word) and play him. Forget his age, forget his lack of experience (he'd be surrounded by experience anyway). He's that good, he's worth the risk. Willian/Fabregas - Neves - Matic I'd jump for joy if that happened. Hazard signing level of excitement. Centre midfielders like him are too rare to pass up. Chelsea's own Busquets. Excuse me while I whipe the drool of my chin. But I have to admit, I'm worried Bayern could offer him the world with Neves taking over the Xabi Alonso position. Thiago, Neves and Vidal in one midfield, wow. And even Real could come in, Modric is becoming more and more fragile. I'd complain about them hogging all the talent but my Chelsea does the same at a lower level. Big fish eats small fish...
  13. You know, that never gets old. Football at it's best for me. Gianfranco Zola. The Little Giant. A shrine should be built in his honour. How is this man not working for Chelsea btw? Instead he's managing some team in Qatar...
  14. That's silly. People enjoy Mourinho failing because he has a big mouth, gets into a lot of fights and has a high opinion of himself. It's not exclusive to Mourinho, it goes for any person in any environment. It's only natural. His fans love it of course.
  15. The same was said about Neymar, Suarez, Bale and James. I also remember a lot of doubts when Modric joined. Squad player under Mourinho, best player behind Ronaldo under Ancelotti. Same goes for Kroos, questions were asked about what he would add to Real. No more. You really don't know until the player makes the move. Henry joined Barca but was forced in a wide role. Talk about an upside down world, moving from a striker role to the wing in your thirties. Zlatan, with his clear superior technical ability compared to Eto'o, was supposed to fit Barca like a glove and do a much better job than Eto'o. Isco was the Spanish golden child. It had been too long since Real had a Spanish star up front. (Eto'o is incredibly underrated btw. He owned that striker role.) Messi and Ronaldo are the only untouchables in football. Every player has plenty of doubters. Messi and Ronaldo have ruined football in a way. Their previously unheard of consistency has raised the bar to an unrealistic level. When they eventually drop off, everyone else will look better.
  16. For me, Hulk is a good player but the hype back in 2011 was crazy. He was made out to be the new Cristiano Ronaldo. Extreme price tag as well, eventually joining Zenith for €64 mil (that was a far more impressive figure back then compared to now). His performances for Brazil were bad. He was so easily nullified. I read an article not too long ago about he how he changed his style this year (no more constant shooting from all angles for example), reaching a new level. And how his first few seasons were poor and the fans didn't love him but now they're changing their tune because he's finally started to carry Zenith. Maybe he can carry that form to Brazil.
  17. You thought that game was boring? Good and interesting game if you ask me. And another high intensity game. Matuidi is Essien. Aurier is awesome. My favourite RB.
  18. PSG - Real. It's sad PSG can't put in a convincing performance at home against a Real side without Carvajal, Modric, James, Bale and Benzema. Sad because you expect more from PSG but more sad because it's worrying and embarassing how far ahead the big three are of the rest of us. Real aren't even close to struggling. It's impressive though. They have a real system so players like Vasquez, Jese and Casemiro (Kovacic, Nacho in other games) come in and don't look the slightest bit out of their dept.
  19. L'Equipe? That's a serious source.
  20. I can't get used to this. This is a game that should be won but yeah, points could easily be dropped. My problem would be dropping points again against Liverpool in the next game. Winning has to start feeling normal again. That's a good thing.
  21. Best performance under Mourinho by far. Sadly it turned out to be a one off.
  22. Costa was a menace. But he can only do it in the Bundesliga, he couldn't do that in the PL. Home of real defending and all... I love Bellerin. Granted, Costa got the better of him quite a few times but Bellerin is so talented. Arsenal have struck gold.
