  1. Essien doesn't cut it as a DM for me (anymore). And I guess we disagree on what we need. Mikel fits the description of Moutinho as well and we still ask for a new midfielder(s).. And I don't like the idea of two slowpokes in midfield with no on-the-ball skills. On Lampard, we all know most of Lampard's assists didn't come from great through balls, and that's we need (Fernando especially) if we are going to play attacking, possession football, but from corners, indirect freekicks and quick one-two's.
  2. Moutinho is a good player but he's not the right type. He is someone who keeps the ball ticking in midfield, always available for the pass, hardly loses possession. He's also very energetic though slow and weak. But you need a final ball player next to someone like Moutinho as he is not that type. He can do it every once in a while but it's not his area (like Lampard in this). So that means we would have to put Ramires/Essien on the bench for him and get that final ball player as well (if possession play is going to be our game).. so buying Mouthinho would be a waste of money. Anyway, AVB's appointment is just a matter of time. So now that's out of the way, the main interest goes to which players are coming in and which are going out..
  3. Was hoping you were joking. But yeah, us being linked to so many Porto players is driving me crazy. The only Porto players who are Chelsea material are Falcao and Hulk and we absolutely don't need Falcao. Was hoping for it to be confirmed today but tomorrow is good too.
  4. Wow was very surprised when I read the news.. and I couldn't stop smiling for some reason . Let's hope this ends up in a successtory (he'll need a better squad though).
  5. The reporter said: Anyway, this is indeed very interesting.
  6. What a useless buy this would be..
  7. Haha you still think Henderson is a great player ? And you can add Smalling to that list, he was great.
  8. Great cross by Sturridge. At least England can look forward to having two world-class CBs (most likely) in the future, who are even better with the ball than their current CB duo. And I personally still believe in Sturridge's ability to become a true quality player. This midfield would have made a big difference to the team btw: Rodwell - Muamba - Wilshere McEachran
  9. The (British) Pound was worth more back then. When you put his price in Euros (75 mil), you get something impressive.
  10. Are Valdes, Alves, Pique, Puyol, Abidal, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, Villa and Messi moving to Bilbao ? (you're joking right?)
  11. Haha him being incosistent in the past is absolutely normal. He just turned 23, 2 June, not every player can be like R9 or Messi (as in, consistently world-class at a very young age). Cristiano didn't become world-class until he was 23 and look at him now. Or what about Dinho and Zidane? And no I'm not saying Aguero will reach that level with all certainty, though he has all the talent to do so. And his goal-scoring record, see Terry07's post, is highly impressive for someone was 18-22 during that time, mostly playing as a second striker and not even playing for a world-class side. He was absolutely class last season, and that in a poor Atletico side.
  12. They were class when they played there weren't they .
  13. Nope, never plays/played there for Atletico. Kun is as much of a winger as Sturridge, Anelka and Kalou are.
  14. Christian Eriksen And that was indeed a fantastic goal LDN.
  15. If I'm right, this is the last summer clubs can spend money that comes from outside the club right? If so, they better refresh the squad now as the club is nowhere near making their own money.
  16. Yeah Rodwell is a good player but we don't need him unless we buy him for the DM position but he's a CM so no. Money better spent elsewhere.
  17. Hmm let's hope Petr doesn't get injured then.
  18. Haha fair enough. 4-3-3 isn't really England's formation though.
  19. True. England's next generation doesn't look very impressive. Then again, Rodwell - Wilshere would make a huge difference in midfield for England
  20. What do you exactly mean when you say overrated? After joining Wolfsburg as a young player from the Czech league, so ignoring his first season, he went on and scored 76 goals in 105 games for Wolfsburg (and Wolfsburg were poor in his third and fourth season at the club). Because of that people called him a quality striker.. seems right to me. A poor start to his Man City career doesn't change that. Or is Torres overrated as well?
