  1. Vidic was a wall at the back to be fair.
  2. If we bought Koulibaly for 60 million, we would have him and Kante for just over 90 million. I would say those positions are more important to us than a celebrity footballer like Pogba.
  3. It would be hilarious if Di Marzio comes and says "no updates on Koulibaly for days"
  4. De Silvestri is a full back, but can play in the centre of defence too.
  5. They sold Higuain (a striker) so how does that affect them in regards to buying a defender or two? They would have made well over 100 million euros from the sale of both Higuain and Koulibaly (if the fee we've offered Napoli is true) which is plenty enough to buy replacements. Maksimovic would cost around 25+ million, Caceras on a free transfer, and then they go after a striker with what's left. I know things don't work that way, but I'm just going by what extra fee they would make on the sale of Koulibaly and how much other teams want for the players Napoli are interested in. Inter are strengthening, Milan have a new owner with lots of ambition, so I can sympathise with Napoli somewhat because they don't want to lose their key players and bring in inferior replacements, but still, this will inevitably happen because Napoli (whether they like it or not) will struggle to compete with the other big boys (especially Juve) in the future. If Koulibaly has a below par season from here on (which could happen if the player is unhappy), De Laurentis will regret not taking the fee from us and we will have dodged a bullet.
  6. This was yesterday: Napoli News 24/7 ‏@napolinews247 Aug 16 #Abramovic is ready to move for Nikola #Maksimovic, but the player's intentions are clear: he wants to go to #Napoli. (@dailymail) #CFC
  7. You know the one thing that always bugs me a little is when people say he did poorly with that Juventus team he had. Okay, so I didn't follow them in the CL during his tenure, however, how good was that Juve side and should he have done better? At the end of the day, the CL is a tough competition to win and it's all about fortune in the draws too. Can someone enlighten me on this? Obviously winning the CL (once we get back into it, of course) would be a big aim for us while Conte is in charge at the club, so I just want to be assured that we will be able to challenge on all fronts under him.
  8. That was written by David Amoyal (Di Marzio colleague) a few months ago when Utd were interested in Maksimovic, that's why there's references to Darmian in defence and being a familiar face.
  9. While Maksimovic may not be very well known outside of Italy, he’s rightfully considered one of the best center backs in Serie A. But don’t take that from me, in fact Napoli (one of the shrewdest clubs in Italy) has been after him since last summer, but it now appears they will not be able to land him because of Torino’s high demands. Maksimovic does not get much attention since he plays for a mid table club and because Torino’s other main center back, Kamil Glik, is not only the team’s captain, but also had a propensity to score goals (last season he scored 7)- in addition Maksimovic missed a good chunk of the season because of a foot injury, since returning he has appeared in 14 Serie A matches. But make no mistake about it, Maksimovic brings a lot to the table. The Serbian defender is fast for a player who is as tall as he is (190 centimeters), he is a good man marker who uses his height well in aerial duels. But in addition to his defensive ability, Maksimovic is also an excellent passer- in a way his style of play is reminiscent of Juventus’ backline “regista” Leo Bonucci. In fact Maksimovic has such a varied skill set that he can also play in the midfield. Torino will look to get a big return for arguably their most valuable asset, they had asked Napoli for a transfer fee comparable to what Roma received for Romagnoli last summer (25 million euro plus add ons). In previous transfer windows Torino moved Cerci and Immobile, followed by Darmian who joined United last summer for the highest incoming transfer fee of Cairo’s presidency at the club. While many have been critical of Darmian (and bring that up as a concern with Maksimovic) it’s important to remember last October many United fans were calling him the best right back in Premier League, and since then the entire club has been in a funk. Makismovic would be able to get used to the Premier League while having a defender he already knows on the backline should the deal go through, a move that would also benefit Darmian. Maksimovic has all the tools to be successful in the Premier League, he has shown that he’s ready to take the next step in his career as he enters his prime (he will turn 25 next November) , while there is no guarantee he will live up to Vidic’s legacy, he could be an intriguing addition for
  10. We are also interested according to Di Marzio. Torino wouldn't accept what Napoli offered, which was about 25+ million euros, so we can outbid West Ham is we want. However, our no.1 target is obviously Koulibaly. I don't understand why Napoli and Koulibaly are holding out on this if he's going nowhere. Just say you're staying put, sign the contract and be done with it. Holding this out for longer and longer makes no sense.
