Amazing. That's why I didn't even want to come to this thread after the Netherlands game. Some think Lukaku is a better player than Costa? I'm absolutely certain these people simply didn't watch Lukaku play for Everton and Costa play for Atletico Madrid last season. I don't think we can draw too much conclusions from Costa's performances for Spain. And personally, I'll take Costa over Cavani anytime. Apart from the Costa's qualities suit us much more than Cavani's, Costa is the better player right now.

There's a difference between an average player playing at his maximum average potential and a top class player playing way below his potential. Many of our fans are quick to jump on Oscar's back, but perhaps the wrong questions are being asked. Perhaps the system we played this season was too rigid or he was simply fatigued. Not true at all. Was very isolated by Spain's sterile play in the 1st half and he still won a penalty. Also came extremely close to scoring with a header that was stopped by a magnificent save from the keeper in the 2nd half. His runs were also generally decent. Far from "awful".

Pretty much. And there are reasons why he might not want him if Costa is coming, but I don't want to think cynical thoughts.

Judging by his comments, it's either: (1) Lukaku is not rated or wanted by the club and as a result is angling for a move elsewhere. or (2) Lukaku is afraid of competition and wants to go to a club where he will be the undisputed starter. He will rather be a big fish in a small pond. Something gives me a feeling it's the former.
