I just hope we don't play awful football. Everyone will be watching our game.
-
He isn't like Hazard at all. Also, I'm not convinced he's ready to be a regular first team player at Chelsea. We should do everything we can to sign a world class right/left winger, either Reus or Bale, if we can't, sign Sterling, he's English and helps the quota. Depay will probably go to United anyway.
-
Schrijvers should be promoted to the U21's, methinks.
-
Wow, some of his teammates are shocking. How many beautiful chances did he create and none of them could score.
-
my only slight concern about him is his very slender physique. Needs to bulk up a bit.
-
Not quite. You shouldn't listen to trolls like Man United fanboy, Ian Ladyman and the ultimate troll Neil Ashton, who both hate our club and are envious of our manager and players. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/9774394/harry-kane-eden-hazard-david-de-gea-sky-sports-pundits-make-player-of-year-tips

A guy like Alexander Meier for instance has scored 19 goals in 23 games for Frankfurt, yet he'll never win the player of the year award in Germany though he is German as long as players like Robben and De Bruyne exist. They are used to success and greatness. Meanwhile in England, a young player shows a bit of promise this season and all of a sudden he's the best in the country. Like Wilshere was years ago, and many before him. You'll think they'll at least wait for Kane to have another good season before crowning him. We accept and even delight in mediocrity in this country. That's the difference. Anyway, to keep it on topic, most of the stuff I've seen on twitter from journalists and players seem to be in support of Hazard winning the main award and Kane winning the young player one.

Spurs are not a shit team, they are a top 6 team. They put 5 past us and made it to the cup final. There are far worse teams in the division. Points are, Kane also takes penalties for his team, Costa doesn't. Teams also play much more defensively against us than they do against Spurs. Even at WHL, the opposition leave gaps in behind because they believe they can win, this rarely happens at The Bridge. Another is this is Costa's first season in English football while Kane has played here all his life. These are all important points. I really can make the argument both ways. The point is I fail to see anything that significantly distinguishes Costa's good season from Kane's good season other than the fact he's English of course.
-
I don't know why people think this. From the little Kane has been no better than Costa this season, even taking the England international factor into consideration and his race (which is the sad reality). I don't see too many fellow professionals voting for Costa either. Matic, maybe the FWA award, but he won't get too many votes either. Also "stealing votes" will also affect Kane. Anything short of Hazard winning that award will be a complete disgrace. No wonder the PL has gone to shit in the last 5 years or so.

I used to think this was how it worked, but even signing Ronaldo, we will struggle to recoup that fee. We are probably making 35-45 million max on shirt sales for all our players combined in a season. Also, you seem to be assuming he'll have the same impact he had in his last season at Spurs here at Chelsea. He'll have a positive impact, 15-20 goals and a different type of goal threat, but I don't believe he'll be scoring 25 + goals, which was something he managed in one season only. He won't be able to do what he likes like at Spurs, shoot as much as he likes and play a free role behind the striker, he won't be the main man and we won't be mostly reliant on him for goals. He'll have to chime in with his fair share of defensive work, which is something he's failed to do at Madrid. That's why 75 mil pounds is a little to steep for him. 75 mil euros yes, but 75 million pounds. The only way I see that happening for us is if Man United are willing to pay that amount for him.
-
75 million pounds is too much for him.

by his standards

For those who missed Hazard's goal vs Cyprus, it was decent : https://gfycat.com/PositiveRadiantAnemoneshrimp

Hazard needs better teammates in the attacking 3 positions behind the striker (looking at Willian and Oscar), world class or close to that. Same story as last season. One guy putting in super-human efforts, his teammates not on the same wavelength. We must do everything within our power to sign Reus or Bale if we have any serious hopes of winning the CL in the near future.
-
If Liverpool don't want to pay the wages for the new contract, I'll certainly take him!
-
Bizarre comment. What does liking him have to do with anything? If we sign him, it will mean we're willing to pay what he wants.

"We had enough quality to play a different game (in London)" - Costa on the PSG match.

It's well worth noting that Bale took 156 shots in the league that season and 225 shots in total and for a total of 26 goals. These are unbelievable amount of shots that most strikers won't even dream of taken. Hazard has taken 58 shots this season and 68 in total. He took 91 shots in total last season. It's simple common sense that if a player takes more shots, he'll generaly speaking, score more goals. For instance, in Hazard's last season in Lille, he took 121 shots and scored 22 goals in total. Maybe he needs to average more than 2.1 shots per game, but it's also worth noting that he's more of a playmaker first and foremost. Hazard can't be expected to be the ball carrier and then be averaging 200 + shots a season like Bale, Messi and Ronaldo do. If Hazard starts averaging that many shots, he won't be as effective in the other things he does. That's why I suggested he's moved to the centre, closer to goal, where he can have more shots and less tracking back. He'll score 5 to maybe 10 more goals a season, but will that make him a better player, us a better team and is it really worth it? At the end of the day, you can't eat your cake and have it to. If some of you can't see that Hazard has become a top 5 player in world football this season, then that's too bad.
-
And just to add my two cents. The only players Hazard is "some way off" are Messi and Ronaldo, that's it. And that's mostly in terms of goals scored anyway, not quality of performances.
-
And the bullshit returns to this thread again. No surprise it was started by a Belgian. You guys don't deserve some of the players you have in your national team, with all due respect.

Belgium have two must win (or at least, must pick up points) Euro qualifier games, so it seems Hazard won't be rested by Wilmots, which is bad news .

PFA Player of the Year 2015 & Performance of the Season?

Lampard at 23 was a better player than whatever Oscar has shown now. Besides, they are nothing alike; different players, different qualities, different positions, so the point its moot. Apart from a few wonder goals here and there, Oscar has shown nothing special. The whole Brazilian NT team is average by their standards and so is the talent, like I've not seen before. Definitely not in the 90's and Brazil had great teams and great players in the 80's, arguably even more so than the 90's, and the list of greats in the 70's, is endless. So I don't know what time period you're talking about there when you say you've seen "way worse". Saying their defenders are good is ridiculous especially after they got annihilated 7-1 at the World Cup. Miranda, Danilo and Luis are all good defenders for their clubs, but it remains to be seen how they play in the NT. BESIDES, that wasn't my main point. I was pointing out the lack of decent talent Brazil have been struggling to produce for a while now, something you didn't bother responding to in any meaningful fashion. I cited examples from their youth teams, you did not. I don't even know why I respond to stuff like this, but whatever.
