I was just going off a picture of him in a City shirt when he was younger, but that's clearly in the past going by what you've said. I'd be very surprised if that played any part & more so to do with him/Dortmund having their hearts set on something else.

Haaland would at least have some resell value if he didn't deliver. The same can't be said about this potential signing. In relation to your point about Haaland/Werner comparison, just look at the former's record in the CL.

At the point where I'm starting to think there's more to the Haaland "saga" and, he's set on moving elsewhere. That's the only conceivable reasoning for us going full steam ahead for Lukaku all of a sudden.
