  1. Yes I checked. I didn't like the idea that some members could get the impression that I may have lied. So I asked AI the question again and then this follow up question: - in a response to a similarly worded question yesterday, copilot said that "A discussion on a Chelsea fan forum even questioned whether the 2029 winners would qualify automatically, with one user stating they heard on a podcast that they do not." Which fan forum was that AI replied: - The Chelsea fan forum where that discussion took place is Talk Chelsea, specifically in the thread titled“Fluminense vs Chelsea” on page 10. A user named OhForAGreavsie posted: “This is verified? I listened to a podcast in which it was claimed that the Champions do NOT qualify automatically for 2029.” This sparked a broader conversation among forum members about the Club World Cup qualification rules and whether FIFA would follow the precedent set by the national team World Cup. Let me know if you’d like a summary of the full thread or quotes from other users in that discussion. Then: - Here’s a summary of the discussion on the Talk Chelsea forum (page 10 of the “Fluminense vs Chelsea” thread) regarding Club World Cup qualification: 🧵 Forum:Talk Chelsea – “Fluminense vs Chelsea” (Page 10) 🔹 Key Participants: OhForAGreavsie: Raised the question of whether the 2029 Club World Cup winners would qualify automatically. He mentioned hearing on a podcast that they would not. Vesper: Expressed frustration at the idea that Club World Cup winners might not qualify automatically, comparing it unfavourably to the national World Cup format. LAM09 and others: Joined the discussion, reflecting on Chelsea’s performance and the broader implications of the tournament format. 🔍 Main Points of Discussion: Uncertainty: Users were unsure whether FIFA would allow automatic qualification for the next Club World Cup. Frustration: Several fans expressed disbelief or annoyance that winning the tournament might not guarantee a spot in 2029. AI Mention: OhForAGreavsie noted that Copilot had quoted his forum post in a response, which sparked some amusement and commentary about AI. The thread blends tactical analysis of Chelsea’s performance with broader reflections on the tournament’s structure and FIFA’s evolving rules. The bots are watching us lads and lasses!!
  2. It's great no matter what because those costs were baked in already and must be paid. If the money for runners up covers that, and I doubt it would unless we actually win it, that still means we don't have take the money away from some other part of our budget. The cash helps. I don't believe £80m would cover the costs above because it's a fair guess that the squad, coaches, and even the sporting directors, are on bonuses for this competition.
  3. Unless AI have a way to bypass then it must be a coincidence that someone else had the same experience I did and wrote about it in exactly the same words.
  4. Before the group stage started I was desperate for us to win the group so we would avoid Bayern and have a chance to progress to the quarter final where i expected us to loose to PSG. Who knew that Bayern wouldn't win their group either. 🙂
  5. As I said the other day, it's the most fortunate, and most profitable, defeat in the history of football.
  6. I don't think that is right anymore. I think the champions of the Nations world cup have had to qualify for a few tournaments now. If I'm remembering correctly it was down to money. The holders wanted competitive games to cash in on.
  7. Wow! I just asked Copilot if the champions qualify for 2029 and in its response it quoted the post I just made. 😞 So much for AI taking over the world. Copilot output: No, the winners of the FIFA Club World Cup do not automatically qualify for the next edition of the tournament, including the 2029 edition. 🔍 Here’s what we know: The 2029 FIFA Club World Cup will feature 32 teams and follow the expanded format introduced in 2025. Qualification is based primarily on continental championships and historical performance, not on winning the previous Club World Cup. For example, PSG or Inter were said to qualify for the 2029 edition based on their UEFA Champions League success, not Club World Cup results. A discussion on a Chelsea fan forum even questioned whether the 2029 winners would qualify automatically, with one user stating they heard on a podcast that they do not. So while winning the Club World Cup is prestigious, it doesn’t grant an automatic ticket to the next one. Qualification depends on contin
  8. This is verified? I listened to a podcast in which it was claimed that the Champions do NOT qualify automatically for 2029.
  9. Two weeks ago I was thinking we'd make the last sixteen, and crossing my fingers we might make the quarters. 🙂
  10. Lavia better be fit for the weekend. If he'd been fit today Caicedo might not even have been on the pitch at this stage. DO NOT PUT HIM BACK ON.
  11. Neto off. Happy with that but Cucu should have been next not Gusto.
  12. A lot of people having their eyes opened about JP.
  13. Agreed. Just watched again (rewinding DAZN is such a hassle) and he's clearly on.
  14. Did anyone else worry that the goal might have been called back for offside against Neto?
  15. Agree about Santos but didn't see anything particularly good from Nkunku either. That said, there is about a quarter of the match that I haven't watched yet. I slept through my alarm for kick-off but woke up around 3am. I then tried to watch the game 'as live' but fast forwarded too far at half time (DAZN don't make it easy) and caught a glimpse of the score. After I knew they had equalised I didn't see any point of going back. Reading the forum it seems I missed most of Pedro's bright spell.
  16. Saka's backup. Clearly he'd prefer to be seen as a starter but it's CL, it's a big club, it's a pay rise, it's an easy move geographically, and he's a backup here anyway.
  17. Strange, strange decision. It was always assumed that a part of the justification for the deal came through its link with Gallagher's move. Well I hope it was a massive piece of financial wizardry because, just as predicted by many here, there has turned out to be zero footballing purpose to signing Felix. Either time.
  18. The most helpful, and most valuable, loss in the history of football. 🙂
  19. Presumably Fluminense have their suspensions too.
