Ah yes, and it was a squeaky one at that.

I'm with MB on this. This feels like great agent work to me. Doesn't want to diminish the chance of a late career 'pension fund' move to Chelsea so, instead of letting it be known that his client doesn't fancy Chelsea, he produces a cover story.

I'm not surprised Barca might be willing to negotiate downward. I've only seen YouTube highlights but I don't like what I see from this bloke at all. His M.O. features way too much in the way of flicks and tricks. Exactly the type of football played by people who think they are better than they really are. I've said before that the best performance I've ever seen was Bayern's demolition of our team at The Bridge. Zero flicks, zero tricks. Proper football played to an exceptionally high standard. Get the ball, protect the ball, move the ball, pass the ball with good weight, move to support the ball again and repeat. Beautiful football played by brilliant footballers. Dest is exactly the type of player I had in mind when I accused our decision makers of being too attracted to the shiny things over the solid, genuinely good things. @Vespercan send me a bill for use of her material if she likes but, for me, Dest is a hard pass.

I think the likelihood is that he will come back the same player. This is why, if we do attempt to sign a left sided defender this window, I want it to be someone slated to be the starter, not a backup.

This question has been in the back of mind since the draw was made but I've not looked it up. The first FA Cup game I can actually remember is the 1967 FA Cup Final. That's a long, long time ago so it could be that my memory is failing me but I honestly don't remember us being drawn against non-league opposition in all those years. Can anyone correct me on this?

Wow! I've just read the most optimistic comment I've ever seen from a football fan. I'm just going to copy and paste: Fan of a fifth tier team is only secretly worried his side might get turned over away to the European Champions but only if the champions of Europe turn up! Not to worry though he doesn't really think it will happen. it's just something in the back of his mind as a kind of vague possibility when he looks at the difference between the two sides! I expect he had to look quite hard to spot the differences. We football fans are a strange, but entertaining, set of people. 🙂

There are many ways in which CFC fans would very much like to be more like them.

Based on this report it is clear cut. Obviously there is no automatic recall clause. As you say, Lyon would not have a veto if there was. It's probably not so surprising that we were unable to negotiate the inclusion of a recall clause. Our position in those negotiations can't have been very strong

Good news, bad news in TT's post game with CTV. Good news that Thiago and N'Golo were due to start. For me this shows the proper attitude towards this game. Bad news of course that illness kept them out.

Could have finished it. 😒

Let's hope Harvey gets a touch or two.
-
Now for something decisive.
-
Good build up, presentable chance for Hakim.
-
Another great ball from Hakim
-
Thought Timo was scoring there.
-
Looks like we could do with another two minutes in the dressing room so TT can have another go at his halftime team talk.
-
Are we Tottenham in disguise at the moment?
-
Hope we're not going to regret that it's only 2-0.

Great by Saul
-
Rom needed that

Oh the perfect goal to score against Tottenham. 😀😀

We've just played Liverpool, we have Spurs three times in two-and-a-half weeks, City in there somewhere, the only game I can bring to mind against non-league opposition and now you've put the Night Train into my mind. Covid stuff itself. What a good day this is. 😀

Thanks FB. Unbelievably mild. My daughters kept going at me to get tested but I was sure I just had a cold.

Thank you Vesper.

Me too. Covid positive. Gutted. Hope the recovery goes well. Laser helps I guess.
