  1. So you mean to imply that unless someone reports it, it doesn't happen? I'll be honest, I don't think you can really believe that.
  2. Give me some evidence which supports your feeling. If we want a player, why would you doubt that we will try to convince him to join? It's just a basic tactic to have the manager speak to transfer targets. Imagining that our managers don't do it, is akin to me thinking you can't count up to ten. I may have some crazy agenda which is suited by casting you as an inumerate idiot but that wouldn't make it true. In fact thinking that would say more about me than it would say about you.
  3. Belotti here, Rom elsewhere. Sorted. 😊
  4. Hello Skip, Never doubt your powers of persuasion my friend. Not that you'll ever persuade me that Rom is the right choice. A workable choice perhaps, but never the best one.
  5. I love TheWiz's posts. They are just brilliant. His one about Nemanja being better than Glen Hoddle in every aspect of the game bar heading, because, he argues, Glen was a master in the air, is an all time classic. I challenge any fan forum, anywhere, to come up with anything better. People who think you can just throw this stuff together don't know what they're talking about. Producing output like that takes skill and diligence. People should stop picking holes and just admire the genius we have in our ranks.
  6. Yep, they could sign him, then send him on loan till January.
  7. Liverpool broke the rules, got caught, so came up with a formula for attempting to extricate themselves. It's a good formula. Far better than the stupid way we handled the situation with Ash, for example. Does that mean they should get away with it however? Not in my book it doesn't. I await the FA's reaction.
  8. I would not be keen to sell him to Atleti. Over the course of the season, a number of people, myself included, have worried that Diego's poor form seemed almost deliberate. At times, the chronic indecision and the appalling passing seemed just too bad to be true. The suspicion that he might have been manipulating his exit on terms favourable to Atletico won't go away. This suspicion must surely be complete nonsense but it's there all the same.
  9. They say Bayern are interested in him. For the second time today, I find myself saying I'll believe that when I see it. If he is a £100m player, we should expect the elite clubs to be clamouring for him. I don't believe any of them have any interest in him whatsoever because they know the answer to your question. He has made the most of what he has and so will always make a contribution but his technical shortcomings will forever trap him below the highest level.
  10. This would be a fun negotiation. Mariana of course will tell Everton that's she's only interested in negotiating 'gross' and then discounting our sell on clause thereafter. Everton will claim that other clubs are prepared to pay their fee in full and pay Chelsea's share on top. That's how selling clubs always want to deal with sell on clauses if their negotiating position is strong enough. Thing is, I'm not sure Everton's position is all that strong because few, if any of the clubs who can both satisfy Rom's ambition, and meet Everton's demands, are interested in him. It seems to me that those clubs pretty much all want to do better, and they certainly aim to do better. I'd say the best plan for us is to let him go elsewhere, collect our share, and put it toward one of those 'better' options.
  11. If he goes elsewhere, I don't care. If he comes here, I hope you mean he's not going to go for as much as £80m. If we pay more than Belotti's buy out clause for Lukaku I will be seriously unhappy.
  12. Definitely over hyped. No interest in Chelsea signing him.
  13. I don't believe we were interested in Rodriguez. At least I hope not.
  14. This is at least the second such comment I've read in one of your posts recently. Do you know for sure that we didn't, and if so, may I ask if your information comes from an official source?
  15. I don't understand what people see in this very ordinary player. I remember when we were linked back in January that a story was circulated claiming that a move to Bayren had been agreed. My reaction was that I'd believe it when I see it. Well, I don't know if the move to Arsenal is confirmed but if they have signed him then I'm shocked. Edit: Just checked the Beeb and it's true. Amazed.
  16. Delighted for them. I'm sure he's worth every penny they've paid for him.
  17. It's a different case. City, along with The FA and FIFA, have been taken to The Court of Arbitration for Sport over the transfer of a 16 year old Argentinian. The case is due to be heard on July 3rd. If any punishment follows from the proceedings then I doubt it will come into effect for many months. Even then, I suppose it is far more likely to be financial, rather than sporting. Anyway, I suspect the Manchester club, The FA, and FIFA, will be found to have applied the regulations correctly. http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-soccer-england-mci-cas-idUKKBN18T0FI Manchester City will face a hearing at the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) on July 3 over the English club's signing of teenager Benjamin Garre from Argentine side Velez Sarsfield. Velez filed a complaint with FIFA in September alleging that City broke transfer rules and approached Garre in Argentina while he was 15 years old and signed him soon after his 16th birthday. The complaint was dismissed as Garre has an Italian passport and FIFA allows the transfer of minors between clubs in European Union countries but Velez officials claim that the rule was invalid as Garre played for an Argentine club. "We're angry because City came after our player, we said no and they took him anyway. That's not good behaviour between two clubs," Bernardo Bertelloni, club secretary of Velez told The Times. "He (Garre) left here a couple of days before his 16th birthday, he spent a few days in Germany and he entered England one day after his 16th birthday. "Man City argued that there is an exception in the FIFA rules... But the FIFA rule does not say that, it says he can move only within the EU, between EU clubs." The English Football Association (FA) and FIFA are also listed in the dispute Velez are taking to the Swiss authority. Should City be found guilty, they are likely to face a standard transfer ban that prohibits them from registering new players for a certain number of transfer windows. Spanish side Atletico Madrid had their two-window transfer ban for signing minors upheld by CAS on Thursday, while their Spanish rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid also served bans for transfer violations.
  18. Don't forget that the oppo also tends to play Babas rugby against a Barbarians side. The serious stuff will be a whole different thing. Sadly. As for the tests, I just don't think anyone has a prayer against the All Blacks at the moment.
  19. Additional matchday income isn't going to close the gap. In any case, United are planning to increase the capacity of their stadium.
  20. I don't subscribe to this idea. Footballers are not slaves. If, I say if, the man and his family have decided to build their lives here in England then why have we the right to decide that he must disrupt those plans? I know it's not a widely held point of view, but I'm proud of the way the club put the wishes of Petr & Juan ahead of narrow self interest. In any case predictions of doom following from those deals have proved to be groundless. I accept that there are limits to the amount of self sacrifice players can demand of Chelsea. Eden Hazard to Man City, for example, would be footballing suicide but, Nemanja is Not Eden Hazard. If he wants to go to Manu, then let him. For the right price of course.
  21. Potentially good news for Tammy and for Chelsea. Pleased for him in the main, but there must be a question about how much he might play behind Gayle & Mitrovic. Still, this must have been considered by all parties and, since Tammy clearly had options, we must assume that player and club have chosen the best one. Good luck lad.
  22. And perhaps Juan knew that United wanted him, knew that there was somewhere more attractive than Chelsea's bench he could go. Perhaps the situation is different now.
