  1. I follow that up to a certain point. A striker can make himself useful in a lot of other ways than just scoring goals. Assisting, creating room for his team mates, holding the ball etc. But at the end of the day SOMEONE needs to score goals for you. And if Lukaku is the one who can get that done, if that is his role, than you can't really call him pathetic when he makes two on the day.
  2. Yes just copy what someone else said to me, that'll be smarter than anything you come up with yourself.
  3. your reasoning is not correct imo: a striker is mainly judged on the number of goals he scores. so 2 in one match will mean that his performance cannot be pathetic. bad field play may drop his performance from excellent to good or even average, but it cannot set it back to pathetic. agree? a goalkeeper is judged on the number of saves he makes, not on the number of goals he conceided without his doing. so Mignolet stopping 5 goal bound occasions makes his performances excellent. goals conceided that he could have stopped could cause the performance to drop to average, never pathetic. goals conceided without his doing will not drop the performance judgement ...
  4. Trying to rationalize Messi's & Cristiano's stats & records ... Most pathetic post I ever read on this forum. Congratulations.
  5. Left out first time because goals were most impressive, but added the assists in my last post.
  6. Now to answer on the content, rather than on the namecalling: Messi was born 24/6/1987. So I assume you agree that his age is 21 in season 2008-2009 & 22 in season 2009-2010. Season 2008-2009 (age 21): 38 goals & 18 assists in 51 matches Season 2009-2010 (age 22): 47 goals & 11 assists in 53 matches Ronaldo: Season 2006-2007 (age 21-22): 23 goals & 19 assists in 53 matches Season 2007-2008 (age 22-23): 42 goals & 8 assists in 49 matches So please give up on trying to compare Hazard in terms of stats to Messi & Ronaldo, at no matter what age. There's no point. Hazard is an exceptional player who we all love but if you believe that he will one day score and assist as much as these two superhumans, you will only end up frustrated. Just enjoy Hazard's style and stop counting
  7. I'm arrogant? Let me requote you and see who's arrogant: But i can't be fucked to do it again so one of the mongrels on here just decides not to read it and thinks his opinion is far superior. Booyah.
  8. Haha WTF? stats are easy to consult man, 42 goals in 49 matches for Ronaldo and 47 in 53 for Messi is not superstar enough for you? Ouch
  9. Ronaldo at the age of 22: 42 goals in 49 matches for Manchester United Messi at the age of 22: 47 goals in 53 matches for FC Barcelona It's unrealistic to think that Hazard will ever (or anyone for that matter) atteign that level, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy watching him try
  10. Yes, of course, Messi and Ronaldo are only stars since this season :-) With all due respect, but that was kind of a dumb remark.
  11. Exactly, every big team needs a magic man. Barça has Messi, Madrid have Ronaldo, Chelsea have Hazard. Only difference, our magic man has a few rough edges around him, and some will probably never be smoothened out, but he's all the more fun to watch for it!
  12. Guess Lukaku will always have his admirers & haters. But there's no denying his goal scoring ability. Two seasons in a row scoring one after the other in the BPL, cannot be called luck. I'm not much of a fan either, but I'd rather have him with me than against
  13. Very good decision this. Hazard was a lot more active and came into the box a lot more. Team stood perfectly, everybody seemed to be in their best position. My hopes for the title are rising again :-)
  14. Oh boy, please don't make this into a Belgian thing again. It's getting a bit old. All I said was I don't think Lukaku will get a chance under Mourinho, I didn't make a judgement about it. I agree with everything you said about Lukaku. And I think it's totally understandable that Mourinho won't give him a chance because he doesn't suit his passing style of play. And I'm happy for it. But still it's difficult to say if Lukaku could make it at Chelsea or not if he's not given the opportunity.
  15. But can you still call Lukaku inexperienced youth? I know he's only 20 but he's already played 4 seasons of first team football. Last year he was nearly BPL top scorer. For how much longer can people call him inexperienced? If Chelsea think that Big Rom doesn't suit our game, they need to be honest with him and just let him go. He deserves that much, having supported Chelsea all his life.
  16. Kevin is actually a very technical player with a fantastic touch. That's how little we've seen him play at Chelsea ... So I'd much rather see him in la liga, but indeed as a sale, not on loan, no value in that for Chelsea except perhaps increasing his market value again ... but that has nothing to do with football
  17. We'll never know until he gets a chance ... but will he ever? Don't think so ... not under Mourinho anyway
  18. nope, that's what I said from the beginning. just check my posts (read them for once)
  19. Not to forget that he provided a lovely assist (corner) for Belgium's second goal. Stats appear to be important these days
  20. I just reacted to the great football connaisseur bushman who stated that I probably hadn't seen Lukaku play a lot. I actually think that him assuming, prejudging if you will, that I haven't seen Lukaku play because he doesn't agree with my view on Lukaku, is far worse than me speaking truth about my own situation. Wouldn't you agree? Funny thing is bushman and I actually agree on Lukaku but he doesn't want to see it: Lukaku is a great striker in spite of his somewhat lacking technique.
  21. Do we not speak the same English? In every post about Lukaku so far I have explicitly stated that I think he's a massive player, due to his uncomparable work ethic, strength and pace. Just not his technique. Do you actually read my posts before you react to them or just assume I will say what you expect me to say and comment on your own expectations?
  22. Hazard had a good first half against Japan, although a little bit out of position at times, but can't blame him for that as he's not used to the central role. But all in all he did well, set up some nice moves again. For some strange reason though, Wilmots decided to play Fellaini as a sub for Hazard at the start of the second half, and that was the end for Belgium against Japan really. I feel we could've won with Hazard in our ranks, but we'll never know. One thing's for sure, Japan is going to be one tough competitor in the WC!
  23. maybe he should just skip to second touch right away, problem solved
  24. I actually think this is true. In Belgium I support Anderlecht, and I think I've seen pretty much every first team game Lukaku played there (not in highlights but full matches), and then when he moved to Chelsea, the club I support in England, I think I followed him even closer if that was still possible. I also have a fan pass for the Belgian NT, so I've also seen the matches he played there. So based on the above, I think I'm allowed to say that I've seen him play quite a bit. Sorry if I was cocky, but I don't think very highly of bushman's unfounded comments on Lukaku and reactions towards me.
  25. Alright, I apologize. I don't think we'll agree on the definition of racism (nationality is not a race, and saying that canada is more an ice hockey country than a football country is a statistic fact, not a prejudgement), but no point in argueing about that. I'll rephrase my words and just state that bushman, as an individual, not as a Canadian citizen or member of any sort of race (I don't know his race to be honest), knows absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, about football if he considers Lukaku, who I valuate to be a great player due to work ethic, pace and strength, also as an individual, not as a Belgian citizen nor as a member of the african race, to be a technical player. He is perhaps the least technical player in the world. Fact.
