Well comparing their careers, Lukaku is at least more efficient. Although he lacks some more CL experience of course. At Lukaku's age, Costa had barely played in a first division.

If you compare Costa with Cavani, the latter is obviously the more consistent player. He's been scoring at least 15 goals per season since 2008. In his three seasons for Napoli he scored more than 30 every year. Costa only had two seasons over 15 goals in his whole career. He just had a super season with a super side. He'll of course be better than the two current ones, but that doesn't make him a consistent world class striker.

Torres would be a more likely third striker than Lukaku in any case. He doesn't give two shits if he spends an entire season benched. In fact he'd be happier. No work!

Wednesday was at the end of his career, he had a monumental career in Belgium back when the teams actually still mattered in Europe, and he played for Belgium on several World Cups. That said, I too get tired of these ex-internationals whining about current players. Times have changed. All of these boys are better professionals than you guys ever were back in the day. Eden played what, 70 matches this year and he just doesn't want to get injured during a friendly against a shitty team.

The Belgian national team is not a "small pond". He'll make a real name for himself on the world cup, you'll see.
