  1. Kompany was player of the year two years ago, was he not? He's quite black, as a matter of fact.
  2. Everyone in the world can say whatever the hell they want. They also have to face the consequences of what they say. If Chelsea really really can't handle this monstrous comments, they are free to kick his ass out. I'm sure he'll be ok.
  3. Waw, you must be a football genius. Of course these 46 goals were all De Gea's fault and not caused by having a shit manager and the worst team they had since the early nineties...?
  4. That still baffles me, since he was always known as a very responsible, hard working player in Belgium as far as I know. My guess is that he got too mouthy, and there's only one guy at Chelsea allowed to do that. ;-) That said, the competition was of course brutal too. We'll see in the long run if he could have made it to that level. He'll be a starter on the World Cup for sure btw.
  5. It's not about ego or being the bigger man. It's perfectly understandable for Cech to still want to play every game and compete for the prizes. He's not 45. Point is, if he wants to play, it'll be somewhere without Courtois around.
  6. Seriously, it's obvious he's not coming back if it means being benched to Cech. You can whine all day about this and you may have a right to, but the thing is: this is a guy who may have already won all the major prizes in football except for the World Cup a week from now. At age 21. He could start anywhere else except for maybe Bayern and everyone would be glad to have him. He has never played a single match in the Chelsea shirt. He has no emotional connection to Chelsea whatsoever. Chelsea was just the team that threw the most money at Genk when he was still playing in Belgium. He doesn't owe the club anything. Atletico would probably have bought him for slightly less anyway if Chelsea hadn't been interested. Yes, you can force him to come back and bench him for two years until his contract runs out, but then you will destroy 30-40 million of transfer value and your reputation as a club. And he'll still only be 23 when he's finally "free". If Cech's still ambitious (and I'm sure he is), one of them will leave, it's as simple as that. Every other option is a delusional one.
  7. I think Schurrle will become one of the most important players in the squad next year.
  8. If he wouldn't have been injured, my guess would be a trade Cech - Courtois next year. But now it's doubtful...
  9. Explain to me why he desperately needs Chelsea at this moment? It's not that he'd have to go play in the second division if they burn his contract tomorrow. ;-)
  10. Well, the whole Barca team didn't decide to split after a few doubles, so I doubt that will be the reason. The reason any big player comes or goes is money. ;-)
  11. Yeahyeahyeah whatever. If Torres, Ba and even Schurrle get starting spots before you and Eto'o is coming, you pretty much know the manager doesn't rate you. I'm starting to doubt he'll ever come back, especially after a good World Cup. The only European club that doesn't seem to appreciate him at this time seems to be Chelsea. He's such a big fan. If he'd just been given a decent run of games, I don't think he'd ever want to leave. He should have started the first three matches, as a reward for last season and his productive pre-season. There would have never been a loan, nor a problem. Lukaku is a very proud guy. I'm curious about what will happen, but I wouldn't put any money on the outcome right now.
  12. If you really needed him he would have started in at least one of four games. Guess you needed Torres more.
  13. Btw, you had players like both Ferdinands, both Coles, Campbell, etc in your national teams... The first African player in the Belgian Squad was Emile Mpenza if I'm correct. That was in '98 or so.
  14. Hehe, that was kinda my point. On the other hand, there are still racist assholes in Belgium complaining about how there are no "real Belgians" in the team anymore. The ironic thing is that completely bilingual, smart young people from Brussels like for example Vincent Kompany, might be the last true Belgians left... ;-)
  15. There's a lot of immigrants in the UK as well. And it's not until relatively recently that the've really been showing up in our top teams...
  16. Unless someone gets injured, he's definitely not going. There were 24 squad players selected (including an extra keeper, if the normal third keeper doesn't get fit in time) and 6 reserves. Thorgan is one of the reserves.
  17. English teams seem to try and get every talented youngster abroad, but in the process forget to form their own... How many good, English 17-20 year olds are playing in the PL right now? Anderlecht alone is playing with three Belgians of no more than 20 in the first team. 15 years ago, they'd have to be Kompany-level or they'd be in the stands for three years until they finally got a chance. We used to ignore our own youth, making them play defensively as kids, going for the win in stead of learning. We were getting cheap foreigners from Africa and Eastern Europe, while Holland and France were creating talent after talent in their respective academies. Suddenly we weren't able to compete with the richer teams anymore and changed the whole system to survive on the talent and worth of our young players. This is a very good article explaining it all (by an Englishman I think: http://grantland.com/features/world-cup-2014-belgian-national-team-vincent-kompany-eden-hazard-marouane-fellaini/ ).
  18. I've never actually seen him play myself, but according to wikipedia, he played like 17 matches this year and 14 last year... And that's with Lazio finishing 10th in an already inferior Serie A compared to 10 years ago. I can understand why he's not a regular, but yes, maybe he should have gotten a chance.
  19. It's crazy how many fantastic players multicultural cities like Antwerp, Brussels and Liege have given us in the past 10 years. We used to have a national team with 3 or 4 good technical players and a bunch of lumberjacks to fill the ranks...
  20. Please cherish this one and don't fuck him up, Chelsea. I've been waiting for him to shine for 6 years or so now.
  21. Oh man, forgot about that one. That's as good as literally telling him to fuck off already, if you think about it.
  22. Oh come on... He's by far the superior player right now. Thorgan was one of the best players in the Belgian league, Januzaj (who is also younger) managed to shine for Man Utd, in their shittiest year ever. He was practically the only positive thing they had this season. We're not gonna miss out on giving one of the hotter prospects in world football some official playing time so he can't pick another national team in the future...
