I wonder if people are still keeping up this BS story about him being a coward for not fighting for his place. Diego Costa was awful on Saturday and majority of games this season, bar WBA, has not been in form. Yet, he is still picked and Falcao who was awful last season is constantly called on to come on as a sub while Remy has not featured in any of our league games, who done a lot for us in his limited chances last season. Shocking the way Remy is treated. If there is any player who has fought for his place, decided to knuckle down and wait for his opportunity, it is Remy but he is totally ignored and it shows Lukaku was right to leave. Merit does not get you minutes, it is your reputation. That is why Falcao is favoured over Remy.
So can people put to bed this utterly ridiculous story that he could have stayed and fought for his place instead of leaving. Costa can perform as bad as he has done in the next few games and still will keep his place. But, yeah, Lukaku should be prepared to be content with this

Lukaku is a very good player, and a very good striker, and only 22 years old. Over the last 10 matches in the PL, he has undoubtably been better than Costa. Some of you are straight up lying to yourselves, and refusing to give credit where it is due.
Saying that though, 10 games is nothing. Costa is still serviceable up front every time he steps on the pitch, and is simply in a bad stretch. This guy was a 1 man wrecking crew both at Atleti and here for us in the first 3/4 of last season. Costa is world class, but watching Lukaku's progression and ability to work on flaws in his game, he will become a great striker. He has a tremendous blend of pace, size and strength, which is coming together with skill now as he matures.
Costa is the better player, and that won't change for probably another 2 seasons, but saying that though, Mourinho needs to change up the system to actually reward our strikers. We're far too slow going forward, which was the opposite of the first half of last season.

Who's been saying that? I think you'll find that the vast majority of people on here have wanted him back as our no.1 for quite a while now.
The man is a beast. Who is better in the world atm? Hart makes too many mistakes, Buffon is too old and also error prone, Lloris and De Gea are good shot stoppers but always have a mistake in them, Cech is on the decline (though still very good) and so the only one that leaves is Neuer, and he was hardly convincing against Real and hasn't been his usual self this season. I truly believe that Courtios is the best goalkeeper in the world and as such, he should be between the sticks for us next season.

I've changed sides on this. I would love to see him be our ST. Why not? All our players are young; Salah-21, Hazard-23, Oscar-22, Schurrle-23 hell Willian is our oldest attacking player and he's only 25. Lukaku will be 21 by the start of next season, have 2 seasons of starting in the BPL and succeeding in it under his belt, not to mention he'll most likely play and start in the biggest games there are during the world cup since Bentenke is out. If we keep Eto and bring back Drogba we'll have guys who can mentor him and help mold him.

I have to say that so far he has far exceeded my expectations until now. When he first joined I thought the main reason was because he was "the brother of" and if you read through the early posts on the forum when he joined in 2012 I wasn't the only one.
Even though the Belgian League isn't the strongest in Europe winning the best player of the year award at 20 years old is not something that should be underestimated. Two names of come to mind of players that won the award when they were 20 years or younger: Vincent Kompany and Axel Witsel.
Regardless of the fact if he will ever make the first team we have done a great piece of business signing Thorgan Hazard.

Oh, so he lacks experience now.
I guess winning the Belgian league as an 18 year old with a semi-crappy team, winning a Spanish cup, winning a European cup and supercup, practically freewheeling through the CL groupstage and winning the Spanish keeper of the year award means nothing, because English balls make different curves.

If you want to loan him to a team like let's say Stoke or Newcastle, he will not do it. If you loan him to a team like Everton, they will become serious contenders for a CL spot, if you loan him to one of the top teams there's a big chance you'll be giving them a title.

The future will tell whether they were robbed or did a bargain.

I thought Canadians are supposed to be super friendly people?

to be honest, i have watched him only against the 2 big teams (barca and RM), and he has been phenomenol. i remember a couple of seasons ago when barca scored 5 against ATM, he was still fabulous in that match. another mind-blowing performance that he put in was last season's copa del ray final where i have to say that he should have been MOTM.
i dont know how his whole time in ATM has been, but i can say this, it was not as easy as it has been for him this season. ATM have been brilliant defensively this season. i watched the 2 super-copa, the match against RM and today's match, in all he has conceded 1 goal in those 4 matches and he has had to barely do anything.
on the other hand, i was watching the highlights of malaga vs ATM, and valencia vs ATM, and i have to say that some of the saves from thibaut were amazing.

Great player, the Jose factor is showing in his game. Jose gets the best out of players, even said he has gone from lazy to hardworking.
I stand by what I said a while ago, Jose will turn him into one of the very best in the world.

Do United fans still think he's overrated? Do they still think Kagawa is better than him?

Save ratios don't take into account things like the types of shot keepers actually had to save. It's a fairly useless statistic as things go.
The fact that there's even an argument about which keeper is better when Courtois is still only 21 shows just what a phenomenal talent this guy is.
