I thought we could turn this into a weekly thing where everyone could post his goal of the week or just share amazing goals. What do you guys think?

I'll start: This is from the Belgian league:

Ibra's goal was one of the best I've seen but it was after all a friendly match so the goal loses it's importance. I would vote Rooney's goal vs shitty before Ibra's, tbh.

Tbf, Roberto Carlos' famous swerving freekick against France was also in a friendly but that doesn't stop people from hailing him as a great freekick taker (not too impressive a record otherwise) or that goal as one of the best of all time.

That's because that FK came at a time where everything about Brazilian football was hyped and France vs Brasil was a well anticipated fixture due to their matches together even if it was a friendly. If now, Messi or Ronaldo score a goal like that even in training it would be the talk of the people for weeks.

That's what social media does, gives everyone a mic.

Imo, the competitiveness of the fixture is but a small part of the appreciation of a goal. I concede that there's nothing better than a brilliantly aesthetic goal that also wins a game (hence Zidane v Leverkusen at the top of the pile) but for competitve games, as the saying goes - doesn't matter how they come as long as they do. a tap-in or a 30 yard volley get you the same result.

Although I agree, I also think it is much harder to score or even attempt these goals the more competitive the match is.
