About time too. He will be an asset to us. He may well be a stroppy git, but he hasn't failed at any club he has been at and is a proven Premiership scorer. Chuck him straight in tomorrow and let him smash a hatrick past the Yids.

Well done chels... taken the piss out of yet again... by a club like bolton... £15mil.. no way!! ¬.¬

This is the only reason clubs piss us about with transfers.

How have they taken the piss? Anelka's been in good form for them, he was on a fairly lengthy contract I think and without a doubt they'll be buggered without him, so of course they wanted a good price for him. We snapped him up quick, leaving them with the unenviable task of finding a replacement, plus they knew we were pretty keen to sign him, so that's also reflected in the price tag.

All things considered I think we got him for a fairly reasonable price in the end and Im optimistic this could very well turn into the best bit of transfer business we've done in a while.

I really hope i'm proved wrong. But given all the hype.. the £15m we forked out for him... I just think he's gona be shit for us.

Hope i'm proved wrong and think "i'm a prat, 15mil was a BARGAIN!" but I just cant see it.

Who knows, my mind might change saturday or not...

Of course he's not going to be a bargain. He was never going to be a bargain. Bolton signed him for a club record £8million. They have got a £7m profit within a year and a half which is pretty good, they have gotten more than he was worth because he still had a long contract to fulfill and he was an important player.

The real point is, we have signed a capable player who is hopefully going to score plenty of goals for us and who is available for all competitions too.

Might take a bit longer than just Saturday to earn £15m but I think its a really good deal for us, certainly a better deal than most clubs could hope for in the January window - he's not even cup tied - it just sounds better and better.

Get over it, we spent god knows on Veron. This is a fucking bargain in comparison.

its good for Bolton, its good for Chelsea, its good for Anelka. That's what the deal was all about so there's no worries. Maybe Bolton will just go and get defoe or something. They need someone because they pretty much rellied on Anelka.

In todays market, paying 15million for a proven striker who is technically in his prime (28) is a peach of a deal. Considering we paid 30+million for Sheva who was a year older when he signed at 29.....I doubt for one second that Anelka will be having the problems Sheva had in settling in.

I love Sheva as much as the next person and felt that just before his injury he was showing the form that made him the most feared striker in the world, but consider this.....the run in to the end of the season and having Drogba, Shevchenko and Anelka as options up front is simply mouth watering.

Completely spot on, Tri-Blue. Armed with two proven Premier League strikers and another with such quality is a mouth watering prospect. Manchester United may have their Ronaldos, their Tevez and their Rooneys, but Chelsea have Anelka, Malouda, Drogba, Joey, Shevchenko, Shaun, Lampard, Ballack... that just oozes quality
