Stingray 9,441
our intelligence decreases over time that's why many people say that einstein hasn't made any groundbreaking discoveries after theory of relativity.I mean that we are not as sharp as we were in our childhood.what is your view about that? Not true. Read "50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology: Shattering Widespread Misconceptions about Human Behavior by Scott Lillienfield" for that one. You will love it! Amazing debunking. Stingray 9,441
If we follow Darwins theory, intelligence would only improve.Actually we dont know that. Evolution has no direction. The idea of intellectual progress is likely considering our current niche, but does not follow automatically from the neo-darwinian synthesis. Stingray 9,441
Yeh but it would be logical tbh, if you consider our whole history + Darwins idea'sValid point, but from hindsight I think. Defining evolution as generating intellectual progress would mean that it is moving towards a goal. Based on Darwin's theory, evolution only moves to adapt and does not move towards creating a more intelligent species. So it can be known as an improvment in a certain environment and sometimes a specialization in a niche, it is just an adaptation to survive in the enviornment. But as species change so does the enviornment. So evolution is always happening and not towards a goal. Even if we see it that way now lookng back .... Mundaka 243
We have long unchained from natural selection...At the moment you could say that but really thats kinda in short-term, what if in lets say 500 years our inter glacial period is over and we have a worthy ice age again? (we are in an ice age atm) Stingray

Backstreet09 499
Here's an innocent question from me , After like so many billions upon billions of years, why are we the only species that shows evidence of intelligence in the unique and unparalled way that we do? Why haven’t other species been able to create stuff outside of their immediate instinct?

Why haven’t other species been able to create stuff outside of their immediate instinct?Well you have parots that can talk, bats that use sonar, animals that can fly (which we can't do), we were (very) lucky our intelligence got devoloped that well, and main reason is to be found when we switched from walking on 4leggs, to 2 leggs & 2 hands, that way we could start using weapons/make fire... and we were more and more buzy doing "intellectual" things Backstreet09
