Bertrand Joins Norwich

Norwich have signed Newcastle midfielder Matthew Pattison permanently for an undisclosed fee and brought in Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand on loan. Pattison, 21, has signed for three and a half years after a successful loan.

Bertrand, 18, was recently on loan at League One Oldham and will stay with Norwich until the end of the season.

Boss Glenn Roeder told his club's website: "We have been following Ryan and been very impressed. We believe he can step up to the Championship."

Bertrand was very impressive on his previous loan and the club wanted him to make the step up and this is a good step up for him. Now he has to get himself a regular spot in their team. Bertrand is an excellant prospect thats for sure.
