changingman2000 35
For me its "Happy Christmas (War is over)" by Lennon. Top man and a Top Tune. However I would urge anyway who hasnt seen the video to this to watch it, and try to keep the lump from the throat and try to keep a dry eye. Fulham Broadway 17,319
Yeah top song , moving video. Like the lyrics in Greg Lakes one as well. ''They said there'd be snow at Christmas, but instead it just kept on raining, a veil of tears for the virgin birth''But the best for me Fairy Tale of New York. MikeCFC 45
Happy xmas(war is over) was my favourite until Fairtytale of NY came along,as Layla said it's also a brilliant drinking song. allso like 2000 miles by The Pretenders.Greg Lake's one is also good and how can we leave out 'The most wonderful time' by Andy Williams?I can't get that song out of my head atm
BlueLion. 21,491
It's Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) is my favourite Christmas song. U2 did a brilliant cover.
MikeCFC 45
Most xmas songs though are cringeworthy, especially Wham(sorry Cara) ,Mariah Carey,Wizard,Slade and that annoying Chris De Burgh one.Virgin radio played one by Badly Drawn Boy that was quite good. Can't remember for the life of me the name of the song. Fulham Broadway 17,319
Just realised tonight how totally depressing that song is.Lennon was an atheist, and I guess he was trying to draw to peoples attention the plastic 'Peace on Earth' Christmas message with the reality of rampant consumerism, and relentless death through war and indiscriminate killing. Hence he conveys this hypocrisy with a mournful song. Then again he might have been just off his tits as he also wrote ''you are the egg man, we are the egg men, I am the walrus, coo coo cachoo''
