Bates: Taiwo got it wrong with Chelsea move

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates says Tom Taiwo's family was wrong to take their son to Chelsea.

He told the Telegraph: "So many players are poached bybig clubs and disappear. The parents have a heavy responsibility tothink about their son's long-term career ahead of short-term gains. TomTaiwo [taken from Leeds by Chelsea] is on loan at Carlisle. No disrespect to Carlisle but it is not quite what he thought he would get when he signed for Chelsea.

"Frank Arnesen [Chelsea's sporting director] is supposed to have spent over £30 million and not one has come through. The problem is that in Chelsea's position they need the instant finished article, so they go out and buy.''

No player has come through as a starter for Chelsea. And if Borini and Bruma count as players who have "come through" - then Arsenal have had 20+ players coming through in the past few seasons.

What Ken Bates fails to see is that Sam Hutchinson, Michael Mancienne, Jacob Mellis, Fabio Borini and company have all broken into the first team to some extent. The old bastard needs some new teeth ffs.
