UNCONFIRMED: Chelsea to hand Mancienne long-term deal

Michael Mancienne is set to be offered a new contract at Chelsea.

The Guardian says Mancienne, the England Under-21 defender, will be offered a four-year contract but he could be loaned out if Chelsea were to end the summer with sufficient cover at the back.

Wolverhampton, for whom Mancienne played last season, would be interested in taking him on another loan.

Yes to both. Riccy looks set to stay, in which case we have 3 right backs and 4 centre-backs. Don't need him just yet, let him go and develop at a top flight club where he is guaranteed a starting position.

Great news, I think he is exactly the sort of player the club needs to hang on to. A loan out to a Premiership club is a good idea as Alex said he will more or less get a place in the starting line.

Yeah I agree there, if Ricardo or Alex leaves, we need to keep him here, as we all know how injury-prone Terry is these days!

Excellant news that we are giving him a new contract. Ryan Bertrand has also signed a new deal, so we are still looking to bring these lads in. If Carvalho is staying then we maybe should consider a loan for Mancienne, but it HAS to be to a premiership club. If we can get these lads playing on a regular basis in the premier league then that IS a good move for them.
