Realise though I've made a couple of posts I have never done the introduction bit.

I live permenantly here in Urgup, Turkey with my wife who is also a Chelsea fan, am also into football in a big way out here supporting Besiktas (Fortis cup winners & Turkcell Superleague Champions this season), as well as teams in other leagues than the Premiership - see my profile for full details.

Why does a balloon pilot operate so early?

We need the very calm conditions (typically found here at dawn ofr just after) in order to be able to get deep down into the valleys amongst the "fairy chimney" rock structures. Later in the day it is usually too gusty to do this safely.
