Aesthetic Relic 301
Avram Grant: Anelka hits back Nicolas Anelka has answered claims by his former Chelsea manager that he was not wanted. Avram Grant told journalists last week that he did not want to sign the French striker for his Stamford Bridge side and that despite Anelka joining Chelsea at during last season's January transfer window, the Israeli was under the impression that the player did not have the required desire. Responding to the claims in French journal Les Dessous du Sport, Anelka said: "You must have heard Avram Grant's words. He declared he didn't really need me. He added that I was very talented but didn't have the desire to play." He continued: "This makes me laugh a bit. When you arrive at Chelsea and the coach tells you he doesn't need you, how can you want to play? Especially for him." Anelka, the Premier league's current leading scorer, added: "I was delighted to sign with Chelsea. I'm happy within this magnificent club. I don't think he has the eye of a great coach. Today he is without a job."
EskWeston 696
Good for him. He is proving how good he can be. Leading scorer in the premier league at Christmas is an excellant achievment.
Fulham Broadway 17,311
Good for him. He is proving how good he can be. Leading scorer in the premier league at Christmas is an excellant achievment. It is an achivement, and it would be good to have Drogba as a strike partner. I heard the ramblings of Grant on R5, making out how he improved the club, and that he'd been offered several managers jobs since ...but wouldnt say where any of them were His criticsm of Anelka is unwaranted , is masking jewish/Muslim antagonism, and Anelka has responded in the right way... Aesthetic Relic 301
Anelka looks to have settled well into the Chelsea family and his "Le Sulk" tag seems to be fading. His attitude over the last lot of weeks has impressed me alot. Its nice to see him with a smile on his face. As for Grant.......
EskWeston 696
It definately time for us to have a massive strike partnership at Chelsea again, and i think Anelka partnered with Drogba can be just that. He has been impressive this season, and the comments from Grant go some way to explaining Anelka struggling a little last season. This season right from the word go under Scolari in Pre Season right through to now he has worked hard and been scoring plenty of goals along the way. Kez 2,727
Anelka doesn't really need to say anything, he's doing his talking on the pitch. And just shows how clueless Avram was, playing him on the wings when he is clearly a striker
