FC Twente defender Slobodan Rajković has successfully appealed his one-year ban.

The 19-year-old Rajković was snapped up by Chelsea as a 16-year old, and Blues shipped the defender out on loan to Eredivisie side Twente this season in order to gain first team experience.

However, following an incident at the Olympic Games where the defender reportedly spat at a match official during Serbia’s defeat to Argentina, the youngster was handed a one-year ban on September 1 this year.

Rajkovic opted to appeal the decision and has done so with success after a lengthy procedure.

The talented youngster will be available again for club football with immediate effect. Nevertheless, his suspension remains valid for international appearances with Serbia.

"I'm very happy with this decision and I'm looking forward to playing matches for Twente. I'm glad that I've kept training very hard, so I'm fully match fit," said Rajkovic on the official Twente website.

"However, I'm a bit disappointed though that I still won't be able to represent my country in the near future."

He shouldnt have spat in the first place. Spitting on someone is disgusting. He should count himself lucky it wasnt another player he spat at or he'd have got nailed.

Lesson learnt.

I don't think anyone would disagree with the point that the spitting was a horrible and stupid thing to do. But the ban was massively excessive, and it is good that the ban has been overturned.

The initial ban was a bit OTT. As I said, I hope he's learnt from this. It will jepordise his chances of making it at Chelsea if he gets another rush of blood to the head.
