Benzema signed a new contract earlier this month so I highly doubt he'll leave. Suppose he were to come here (for a hefty price, most likely) would you want him to start over Costa?

no, I think we need a second striker.

It's not like he'd agree to leave RM to be a 2nd striker here even if he became a second striker there.

I didn't mean it for real as I can't see it happening. Neither he's leaving RM and if he was, he'd go to a place where he'd be #1.

His finishing is very inconsistent I'll admit but it's just his all round, technical game that I really like. Statistically though his conversion rate isn't too bad, I think it's close to 20% which is above average for a CF if I remember correctly.

His all-round play is probably what keeps him in the team, but in my opinion his regular poor finishing means he's not world class. With the statistics I guess most of his goals are relatively easy ones. The more difficult ones that you'd expect a 'top, top player' to score he tends to miss from what I've seen.

I don't know, I think it's the other way around actually. Benzema can score some amazing goals with some amazing finishing, but then sometimes he'll miss the easiest of chances. It's bizarre.

Feel like you don't watch Benzema enough (or don't appreciate his game). He's a selfless CF (he has to be when playing with Ronaldo) and one of the most technical centre forwards in the game. I'll agree that his finishing is inconsistent but (sometimes very excellent, other times it's very off) but he's brilliant and very underrated. His link up play, dribbling ability, general technique and touch is great.

He has to sacrifice his game for the betterment of the team. I feel if he moved to another club where he'd be the main man he'd shine even more.

It's not often you find a striker that scores 20+ every season without fail and usually provides 10-15 assists to go alongside with that. He's one of my favourite strikers.

Nope, I watched a handful of Real Madrid matches last season (bout 17 or so) and Benzema was nothing special in most of them. He has one amazing game then 9 bad ones.

He has a decent overall game (not even close to that of Ibra, Cavani, Costa, or even Higuain) but his finishing is what really lets him down

I think he's technically superior to Cavani and Costa (even though both are technically good and have good technique, Benzema is better), and when Higuain was at Madrid Benzema was clearly the better striker and more favoured, even though Gonzalo was very good there, so that speaks for itself.

But then again, I've been watching Benzema quite closely for like 4/5 years, and I really like his playing style so I guess it just depends on the type of striker you like to watch.

I guess we have to agree to disagree here. This is something you can't back up with stats (better dribbler, things like that) so at the end no one can win this debate.

Saying benzema is not average cos he plays for RMA, is like saying torres is not average cos he plays for chelsea. The fact that RMA were linked with lewa, suarez and nowfalcao should be proof enough.

As for buying him, he will cost 30-40, just like higuain did for RMA. I would rather that we buy a natural goal scorer who can do that on a consistent basis coning off the bench rather than benzema.

Benzema is a good striker, technically brilliant and would offer something different to Costa. The main complaint from the Real fans is that 9 times out of 10 he goes missing in the big games, look at the 2nd leg of the supercopa for example, he was dreadful. He's not one of the elite strikers but he's in a tier below, would be ideal.

Benzema is one of those players who I think is very fortunate to be at Madrid in my eyes. I think he's in that bracket just below Real Madrid quality. He'd be excellent as the main focal point in a very good side but when he's in a team full of superstars he looks a bit average and goes missing quite a bit.

If he was at Arsenal for instance I think he'd have massive statistics.

Overrated? He's underrated. He's not rated by that many tbh.

At one stage Torres was THE BEST STRIKER IN THE WORLD, yes WORLD FOOTBALL.

I know, a few years ago the only striker I would take over him was Ibrahimovic. Depressing.

also, nani was never good. just a bit of flair and good dribbling and everyone will think you're the reincarnation of jesus
