Ruddy for me. Solid, good (but not so good that he won't be happy not starting - like Begovic), HG, lots of PL experience, English and a nice bloke.

Butland, Bond or Steele might be decent alternatives, albeit all lack PL experience which is crucial.

Craig Gordon has rarely made a mistake since he came back after 2-3 years out of the game suffering from a major injury except for one against Inter Milan. I would take him as our number 2 if he can maintain his fitness for the rest of this season, no doubt about it he's more than reliable to be a number 2 at a club like Chelsea.

If we are looking for reliable GKs to be number 2 him or Hull's Alan McGregor or even someone like Ben Foster would be a great number 2 and wouldn't cost a lot. John Ruddy is vastly overrated, Green is also overrated. Begovic? Ffs we're dreaming surely if we think he'll come here to play once every 2 months.

I haven't seen Gordon play for Celtic yet, my opinion is based on his appearances for Sunderland. His rival was a Hungarian goallie(Fülöp Márton) so I followed them and I recall a few mistakes from Gordon and I also remember that he got injured every season for a month or two. That 2-and-a-half-years long break seems to be pretty long too..

He is only 31 but already suffered arm, anlke, knee and tigh injuries, which is a little worrying. I don't want Dr. Biesca to have a new best friend.

McGregor and Foster are fine, I wouldn't mind one of them.

Green is overrated? :D Who overrates him? I have only heard bad about him and I don't think he is that good either.

One more thing: are McGregor and Gordon homegrown players? I don't know if players are required to play in England or the UK.

Butland and Bond are younger than Courtois, I think we should sign a player around 30 with plenty of experience.

mark was not a failure. his performance against liverpool itself was more than enough to make him a success

I didn't say he was a failure, however I thought he wasn't anywhere near as good as made out (maybe our standard's went down after suffering with Turnbull for so long).

In his prime a brilliant keeper but last season im not sure he offered anything more than Hilario circa 06-11 did (who was a lot better than given credit for) in terms of decent to fill in but struggle with a run of games, and let's be honest, if Hilario performed like Mark did against Sunderland and Leti at home (the two games that derailed our season) he would have got no end of abuse.

swarcher wasnt that bad imo... much better than turnbull+hilario

Turnbull yes, but like I said to Didier, im not atall convinced the Schwarzer off last season was better than what Hilario gave us circa 2006-2011.
