Hair tips?

To get my hair to look like this:

I use this:

It's a paste. Apply to damp, not wet, hair, massage in and style for the desired look. Dry using either a towel (dab away, and then restyle the stretched but dry follicle, which will set it in the desired direction) or using a hairdryer, combing at the same time. You may need to apply hairspray to the root of the fringe to hold everything in place.

Though mine actually looks like this now (fed up with having to style it every day):

Where do you get that paste? How much is it? I use beyond the zone, it smells really good. But it's a wax.

I'm getting dreadlocks as soon as my hair gets long enough

I had a Willian-style Afro (much smaller) a few weeks ago before I got it cut. It was starting to lock up then by itself. In hindsight, I shouldn't have gotten a haircut.
